Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety attacks natural remedies

anxiety

Avatar f tn ve been having extreme amounts of anxiety that turns into rage or I have panic attacks so severe that I almost pass out or puke. I've had problems with anxiety before but not to the point of there not even being a trigger and it happing. It's got to stop!! I feel like its all but consuming my life and I refuse to let that happen. Do any of you know of a vitamin or something that helps? I refuse to go back on prescription because it messed me up so bad.
Avatar f tn Are there any over the counter meds that I can take daily at home for anxiety attacks. I have at least two attacks every day, but I have no insurance to go to a doctor for a prescription med.
Avatar f tn The anxiety is not doing either because it can't. You are over-analyzing your body because anxiety is making you fear something is wrong, so you keep track of every little pain you experience now whereas without anxiety you would just ignore an ouch here and there - we all get them and ignore them. You may actually have a physical issue like a sore throat from an infection or dryness, but you would have to see doc for that diagnosis, but anxiety is not causing it.
Avatar f tn It is marketed as a 'natural' supplement to treat anxiety. In my opinion, you really have to be careful with some 'natural remedies.' Just because it has this word, does not mean that it is safe or effective to use...furthermore, it has not been tested by the FDA. However, I cannot speak of experience because I have not taken this before. Why did you go off of Celexa? Were you having problems with it?

Avatar f tn After suffering for over 1 year with anxiety attacks along with my blood pressure continuously at a low, I would like recommendations on any natural medicine available for aiding attacks and increasing blood pressure.
Avatar f tn Therapy should be the first choice, since meds are problematic, but if you do need meds you have to do your homework since not all psychiatrists are created equal, and most regular docs aren't very versed in these meds. Wellbutrin isn't generally used for anxiety, it's used for depression. The reason is it's a stimulating anti-depressant. Usually the ones used for anxiety are the tricyclics and the ssris, not wellbutrin. It can actually cause anxiety.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with major anxiety, panic attacks and depression for about 2 years. I have been taking lorazepam which helps a little but am resistant to starting and antidepressant. Has anyone had any luck with natural remedies?....Also for the past 2 weeks, every time I eat I end up with belching within minutes and also notice when I am having an anxiety attack that I have been belching a lot. Does this happen to anyone else?
Avatar n tn Does anyone know any good natural remedies that have helped anxiety?? I've been hoping that with eating well and some good exercise, I could beat it. I guess I'd probably be a lot worse without it, but I'm still tense. The strange thing is that I don't have anything in particular that I feel should cause me any stress but I feel anxious far too often. What works for you?
Avatar f tn It depends on the person, just as with allopathic medicine. But since any method you try will recommend you get into therapy with a psychologist who specializes in anxiety treatment and to learn relaxation techniques such as breathing exercises and meditation you can look into these as well. Using natural medicine isn't what you're going to see on the internet usually, which will recommend one product and say, use this and you'll be fine.
Avatar f tn For your initial question as to whether you're taking too many supplements or not, I can't answer. For the best advice on this subject, go to our Alternative Medicine Forum and speak with Paxiled. He will know. As for your second question, there are a number of "schools of thought" on that subject. But even after all the opinions are on the table, in the end it boils down to how YOU want to manage your health. Personally, I take medication.
Avatar m tn While it's true natural remedies aren't allowed to be banned, they are regulated. The FDA just chooses not to do so, because it serves the pharmaceutical industry (that's just historical and congressional fact). Congress passed legislation several years ago to prevent the FDA from regulating natural remedies out of existence, which is what it wants to do, but it and the Department of Agriculture and the FTC can and do regulate them when sufficient adverse reports come out.
Avatar m tn then the answer is to learn to stop expecting anxiety attacks. Not easy, but an anxiety therapist might help you, and if it gets so bad you can't function medication might be necessary. But first you need to decouple the anxiety from you other health concerns in your mind.
976321 tn?1248178243 St. John's wort is for depression, not anxiety. There are natural remedies for anxiety, but since natural remedies are used in combination, not singly, it's probably best to see a naturopath to set up a plan, just as it's best to see a psychiatrist if treating it with pharmaceutical remedies. Any way you do it, therapy is an essential, though frustrating, part. Try reading the book Natural Highs by Hyla Cass, a psychiatrist at UCLA.
1518437 tn?1291002635 There can be many dangerous reactions with various OTC, Natural remedies with pharmaceuticals. There are many different approaches that people take in trying to confront and deal with anxiety. Are you also in counseling for this? For me, the most important step I took was to learn about my panic. By learning about it, it made it much less confusing and I realized that it can be dealt with quite effeciently over time. As greenlydia says, go talk to your doctor and/or pharmacist....
Avatar n tn thankyou very much that would be greatly appreciated. Do you know how long i will feel terrible for? roughly.? i wish i didnt abuse xanax as it was given to me for when i have attacks but i feel so amazing when i have them. im so confident and strong and on top of things why cant you feel like this all the time. How are you going?
1255530 tn?1269867619 There are no natural remedies that treat true bipolar, that is, the disease that used to be called manic depressive disorder. This one, if you in fact have it, can only be treated by medication as far as we know. On the other hand, a diagnosis by a regular doc isn't reliable, so we'll see what the psychiatrist says, and it wouldn't hurt to see either a neurologist or a neuropsychiatrist ro make sure of this diagnosis. As to valerian, it does not act like a benzodiazapene.
8732981 tn?1400768789 I know what you mean!!! Finding out your pregnant could give u an attack for sure! Did for me. I didnt even know I was pregnant then informed me last week I am having twins!!! Not prepared for that, lol. It can be challenging if you have chronic anxiety. I know b4 I was pregnant I took benzo's to help me. I switched to natural remedies but I was told I couldn't take that either. I am cold turkey which hasn't been the easiest.
Avatar f tn Okay so because of my severe allergies I now have depression and anxiety and panic attacks. About three months ago it hit so hard that I couldn't quit crying and felt like giving up. I couldn't eat, get ready or anything. And my panic attacks were the worst i have ever had. I got in and got on meds, wellburin and Buspar. The first month and a half was better, then the panic attacks and anxiety slowly started back.
Avatar f tn The one thing about anxiety attacks is they go along with intense anxiety -- if you're not thinking anxious thoughts in a pretty obsessive or prolonged way, you're probably not having an anxiety problem. It's the thinking that comes first. If it lasts a while or gets very intense, you get an anxiety attack.
225237 tn?1333138999 About exercise -- yes, exercise can help, but anxiety comes in all flavors. Some is situational, some is chronic. I have suffered from panic attacks for years, and was already an exercise nut and a meditator when it started. For some, heavy exercise helps, for some, it mimics symptoms of anxiety. It helped me, but over the years I still had anxiety and now suffer from a nice array of chronic injuries as I've aged from all that heavy high impact exercise.
Avatar f tn Breathing methods, biofeedback work very well in my opinion, although it is not considered 'alternative therapy.' It is actually the most proven and mainstream way of confronting and dealing with anxiety, in my opinion. I am a big proponent of learning about the source of your anxiety and ways to deal with it, and in talk therapy, you will often learn these methods from your counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist, etc.
Avatar f tn m definitely much more versed in Rx meds, but I know from being a part of this site for a long time that many people have had success using herbal remedies to help with their anxiety. I'm sure someone will come along and offer some ideas for you. A question I would ask you is...is the Xanax working for you, and if so, why do you want to stop taking it in exchange for a non Rx med? Sometimes, the saying...
1348686 tn?1310654243 I am hoping that someone can help me. I have been suffering from anxiety and panic attacks for 9 years now. The last 8 days have been horrible. My anxiety is off the charts and everyday I have been having several really bad panic attacks. I am trying to find an alternative to medication to help deal with the anxiety and attacks. I just started taking a multi vitamin and I love chamomile tea but I am so afraid to drink the tea if i took the vitamin in fear of interactions. Crazy????
Avatar n tn I have been dealing with anxiety for a few years now. I am a 18 year old male. I have anxiety attacks at work and can't think or concentrate. I feel very awkard, uncomfortable, and just plain weird sometimes. I have a friend that is taking Celexa and he said the side effects were a nightmare for 3 weeks but then he got better. I took 5mg of a Celexa and felt horribly weird. I know it has the s enhibitors and the r. The lexapro I want to take has a lot of the r enhibitors.
