antihistamine

Avatar n tn My blood pressure has gone up to 180 over 100. The only change I have made in my life style is to take Patanol eye drops for allergy eyes. I have been using them once daily for 4 months. Could it be that this antihistamine can be causing this increase in my blood pressure? I am allergic to the drugs used for controling blood pressure and prior to this successfully lowered my pressure by exercise and diet.It is normal for me to have a reading of 130 over 80. I am 59 years old. I weigh 110 pounds.
Avatar n tn My mother is in her late 70's with very high blood pressure (systolic pressure was at 250). She's getting tests done, but they don't seem to be timely or thorough enough. My mother is horrible with advocating for herself. Her PCP told her that she may just have to live with high blood pressure. Could this be true????I don't think they are treating it aggressively enough.
Avatar f tn With postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome one can have both low and high blood pressure. Mine can spike at times with standing. I do think that was remiss on the part of the cardiologist not to order the tilt table test to try to better determine what kind of autonomic dysfunction your son may have, since that is what they decided to diagnose him with. With the echocardiogram, with that kind of ejection fraction, did they see any defects in any of his valves or anything?
Avatar m tn I am now on an appeal for a new treatment after being turned down by my insurance company.Has anybody with similar symptons experienced sudden high blood pressure and found out what might have caused it.The doc I saw in the emergency room couldn't answer why it happened.
Avatar n tn Often if you live with such high levels of pressure, it may suddenly swing to either very high or very low side with serious health damages. High blood pressure could be a symptom of some other health issues, like high cholesterol, blocking or thinning of some arteries, diabetes or kidney problem, so that a thorough evaluation will be required before treating it.
Avatar n tn For example, eighteen percent of people with high blood pressure can reduce the pressure by taking simple calcium supplements. That study was funded by a company manufacturing calcium-channel blockers, for whom I worked briefly two decades ago. A long, long time ago, when Obama was a gleam in his father's eye, I worked in college in a behavioral science lab and we experimented with use of conditioning to reduce blood pressure.
Avatar f tn 1. those with too much fluid in their system 2. those with contraction of the arterioles forcing the pressure to rise 3. those with a high heart rate forces pressure to increase. Someone can also have a combination of these problems as well. So without additional info I cannot say if diet, lifestyle changes, or medication is what she needs. I can tell you this: you must take care of it as high blood pressure slowly destroys all end organs (brain, liver, kidneys, heart, lungs).
Avatar f tn Hi, I am in limbo too with an MS dx but I was dx with transverse myelitis. I experience the same thing with my blood pressure. Also my heartrate is all over the place too.It seems to really like to happen when I' laying on my left side trying to go to sleep. I asked my neuro about this and he said that you can have damage to the autonomic nervous system too sometimes. And that will cause BP and HR abnormailities.
9070037 tn?1414632966 I have PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension) & also had it with my previous pregnancy. I'm taking Methyldopa & it works very well at keeping my bp under control. Did your doctor suggest another medicine or did s/he just tell you to stop your previous med? Keeping your bp at a normal level is essential during pregnancy because higher pressure can lead to preeclampsia or even scarier, eclampsia which can cause seizures, coma, or even death.
Avatar f tn But told me to tell them if I get top number of 140+ or bottom number of 90+. I am high risk for high blood pressure but so far my highest was 118/70 something. Good luck!
646105 tn?1223653476 I am tracking my own blood pressure three times a day and I watch my blood pressure spike about 2-3 hours after taking the Synthroid and go to normal/low by late in the day. I am going off it slowly because going off it too quickly can cause some serious issues with your heart.

Avatar n tn Hello girls, I'm a mother of one already and I had a smooth pregnancy my first time around. I'm currently 6 weeks pregnant now with high blood pressure omg I'm freaking. Anyone have suggestions on how to lower it???? Really worried....
Avatar m tn Hi, While I generally agree with the above comments, it is also important for you to bring down your high pressure with medication, never neglect it. If not treated, it can lead to irreversible strokes. While taking medications, you can do other techniques to regulate your pressure and bring down the dosage of the medicine slowly. Many times high pressure may be a symptom of some problems with kidney, brain, heart, arteries, or cholesterol levels.
Avatar f tn t get it and try not to stress it raises your blood pressure, did they put you on a blood pressure medicine to lower it?
Avatar m tn can drinking grape fruit juice effect a person taking high blood pressure medication
Avatar f tn m 16+1 weeks and at my doctors appointment a couple days ago my doctor said my blood pressure was a little high 140/? I forget what or wad exactly. Well this took me by surprise since my blood pressure is always low. Now I'm doing a 24 hour urine test and I'm worried. Anyone else experience this and what happened? Any advice?
Avatar f tn You can try drinking water with fresh lemon every morning...that is a natural way to deal with high blood pressure...worked for me!!
915119 tn?1341948989 High blood pressure can be dangerous if its not monitored, but if I were you I would start drinking lots of water and increase your protein intake- I'm talking so much protein you can't stand it. I was struggling with dizziness and actually low blood pressure, but protein shakes did the trick for me in combination with constant meat consumption. If that doesn't help after a few days and you haven't gone into labor, talk to your doctor again.
Avatar m tn I had my first experience with high blood pressure in 1980 - they found a pheochromacytoma tumor on my adrenal gland. The removed the tumor but have battled hypertension ever since. Not one doctor has gotten it under control.
Avatar f tn Your diastolic is particularly troubling to me here- that means your heart is not relaxing as it should in between beats, which can in the long run, lead to a stiffening. Did the doctor order an echocardiogram? Is the doctor agreeable with you trying natural methods first to try to reduce your blood pressure? You might check with a licensed Chinese acupuncturist/herbalist.
1833444 tn?1325557062 m just finished week 23 (still UND) riba/Interferon along with the Incivek treatment. I develop high blood pressure in Oct treatment started Sep 1st.The GI put me on high blood pills and for the past few month and everything has been stable so with treatment almost complete at week 24 around the corner I'm wondering if there is a possibility that my blood pressure will go back to normal after all the drugs have stopped?
Avatar f tn So yesterday I went in & had high blood pressure for the first time, they did a non stress test & everything was ok but they want me to come in every week instead of every two. I have issues with anxiety & with under 9 weeks to go I'm starting to definitely feel the pressure! Any suggestions on how to keep my blood pressure in check? Ftm & need to stop worrying!!
Avatar m tn I do think that continued high blood pressure can cause kidney problems. You've had this going on for quite awhile now so it's time to do something about it. Most Drs will do nothing if ***'s below 139/89, because it's pre hypertension and they want you to try and control with it with less stress, diet and exercise. But 160/100 is hypertension. Solace gives you great advice. Get more reading so they can take an average.
