antihistamine

Avatar f tn Hello, The most common way to get rid of a stuffy nose is to use an over-the-counter (OTC) decongestant combined with an anti-inflammatory analgesic (pain reliever) like Ibuprofen. However, you should not use decongestants for more than 5-7 days at a time. This is because they can only provide short-term relief for catarrh, and using them for any longer can make your symptoms worse.. Avoid indigestible, spicy, foods and meats. Eat simply of wholesome food.
Avatar n tn So you need to spray it up the nose and breath in to get it up there. I only spray 1 nostril since I need it to drip down my throat where my mucus is produced. My nose is always mucus free. The the nasal spray finds its way from my nose to drip down my throat. Works FANTASTIC for that. More options. I would do all this before going for Xrays and CT scans.
Avatar n tn Obtain needed out-of-door exercise, sunbaths, and swimming. It can also be treated using an antihistamine nasal spray. Antihistamine like benadryl works by blocking your immune system's response to the allergen. Symptoms can also be relieved by using a nasal spray that contains corticosteroids. Corticosteroids work by helping to reduce inflammation and congestion.
Avatar f tn Dear community, I've been trying to find a help for a really long time, I would immensely appreciate any help. My problems started more than 2 years ago, while I was in the US for a year (work related) There I had problems with my nose, i couldn't breathe and it was stuffy all the time. I survived with some kind of special nose spray, which helpes me to just stimulate the pain, I was also taking antibiotics, which helped me to get mucus out but the pain always came back.
Avatar n tn One ENT doctor used Endoscope and diagnosed me as paroxysmal rhynitis and gave me 7days antibiotics, 14 days antihistamine and steroid nose spray. I also flashed with salt water twice a day for more than a months now. The strong smell went away for a few hours but when I sniff with my nose I can still smell it. I went to another ENT doctor and had CT Scan done. It showed everything normal and this doctor told me I never had any sinusitis at all.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
715068 tn?1392933532 Yesterday we noticed that Copper, our 23 month old Jack Russell mix had some minor swelling on the right side of his nose. He hasn't been messing with it or acting as though it was bothering him but doesn't really want me to touch it either. Today I have noticed that it appears to be more swollen & bruised looking, and feels kind of crusty. (for lack of a better word) I realize he will need to see a vet but I was wondering if anyone had any opinions.

Avatar m tn The majority of instances of swollen turbinates are the result of allergic rhinitis, which is inflammation of the nose. Treatment generally consists of avoidance of the causative allergens, once identified, routine daily nasal washes, the use of a prescription nasal steroid spray and/or the use of an antihistamine. The chronic use of inhaled or oral vasoconstrictive medicines, such as epinephrine or Sudafed ® (pseudoephedrine) is not recommended.
Avatar n tn Obtain needed out-of-door exercise, sunbaths, and swimming. It can also be treated using an antihistamine nasal spray. Antihistamine works by blocking your immune system's response to the allergen. Severe and chronic cases may require sinus drainage. These remedies should work for you. If the symptoms still persist then pls consult an ENT specialist. Take care and do keep us posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn It can also be treated using an antihistamine nasal spray or saline nasal sprays. Symptoms can also be relieved by using a nasal spray that contains corticosteroids. But due to their side effects,it is better to use saline nasal sprays. The golden rule for chronic stuffy nose is steam inhalation. Inhaling steam from a bowl of hot (but not boiling water) may help to soften, and loosen, the build up of mucus in your nose.
Avatar n tn t get results from taking an antihistamine, but as I do have congestion I have used the 12 hour Afrin spray (should not be used every night) with very good results. So that could be another test to try.
Avatar m tn You may benefit from seeing a doctor and getting a nasal steroid spray and nasal antihistamine spray. Those really help my nasal allergy symptoms. Also, there is an OTC nasal spray here called NasalCrom. It contains cromolyn which is a mast cell stabilizer. Basically it stops the allergic reaction at the source, the nose. It has to be used every four hours though. My personal experience is that I would feel better on the island - fewer pollens to contend with.
Avatar f tn For starts, have you tried an OTC nasal spray or an oral antihistamine?
Avatar f tn When I go running by wooded areas I get a horrible runny nose. My runny nose goes away about 10-15 minutes after I get inside from my run. I'm wondering if it could be from allergies or if it could be from something else. Thanks.
Avatar n tn i have a very very persistent sinus allergy. nose blocks all the time over a year now and getting worse! i have been prescribed all this **** and none of it seems to work. all i have is my nose that gets blocked so often that i have to breathe with mouth and also have a permanent sore throat. currently in indiana. If someone can give me professional advice or recommend a specialist it would be appreciated!!! As i think my condition keeps getting worse.
Avatar f tn Do not mix antihistamines though such as an oral antihistamine and spray. Ocean Spray does not have an antihistamine and will simply dry you out and is safe to use with an antihistamine.
Avatar f tn I've been sick for a week I been coughing and always blowing my nose thos Morining I woke up and coughed and my left ear pop what time of medicine can I take and do I have the flu
Avatar f tn I've had a stuffy and runny nose since January of this year. It changes from stuffy to runny to back again very frequently and randomly. It keeps me up at night and frustrated during the day. I'm 16 and have never been tested for allergies as this is the first time these symptoms have bothered me. I've also never had the flu. I've been under a lot of stress this year due to switching to three different schools and relationship/emotional problems.
Avatar n tn A quick trip to the doctor and I was told that I had some kind of nasty allergic reaction which clogged my sinuses, gave me a post nasal drip which in turn caused the sore throat and asthma to act up. She prescribed Astelin, a nasal spray antihistamine and described the allergic reaction as a sort of systemic thing and that the astelin should clear it all up. That was Wednesday. I've been using it as told since then and I've only really noticed a very very slight improvement.
Avatar f tn I would recommend you see your primary care physician for prescription allergy medication like a nasal steroid spray or an antihistamine by mouth. If medical treatment does not work, you might want to see an allergist or an ENT who does allergy testing for further treatment.
Avatar n tn for how long can i still use this medicine? do not want to abuse it. how expensive are the allergie stop shots? what are the easiest and cheapest way out of it? thank you!
20315163 tn?1494892428 I went to see a primary doctor and he prescribed a nasal spray that would stop the nose from running and an antibiotic. None of which helped at all. I also tried different eye drops for allergies, redness, crusting and they did not help either. The only benefit to the eye drops was the improvement in my red eye going away. During that time, the pressure in the eye got worse. My runny nose has remained the same, it has not gotten better or worse.
Avatar n tn Hi All, For the past 3 weeks now, I've never been so sick, or felt so helpless. It first started off as a regular mild flu, I had a sore throat, cough, fever, but no vomitting. This lasted for a few days. After that, I started experiencing pain when breathing in deeply on my left side just under my breast. Coughing seemed to make it worse. After the first week because this pain was not getting better I went to the Doctor whom prescribed Amoxicillin.
14287919 tn?1434470794 Sleeping by breathing through the mouth is a rough road in my experience... dry mouth is horrible. I use a lot of saline nasal spray and a steroid spray, the help but I still wake up frequently. Afrin works great but can't use constantly... only allow the luxuary about once a week ; ( I suffer from mild OSA, lost aboput 10% of body weight and that doesn't trouble me any more, or it is masked by nasal congestion...but, I think not as Afrin will keep nose open all night.
