Antihistamine nasal allergy

Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine nasal allergy

antihistamine

Avatar f tn take an OTC antihistamine and use a nasal spray like Ocean Saline Spray. Do not mix antihistamines though such as an oral antihistamine and spray. Ocean Spray does not have an antihistamine and will simply dry you out and is safe to use with an antihistamine.
Avatar m tn Try steam inhalation, saline nasal drops, breathing exercises, and oral antihistamine medications and see if they help. Let us know about what your doctor tells you and keep us posted on how you are doing. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Avatar n tn It can be even easier than that. You could alway ask your doc to try free samples of Nasal Sprays for rhinitis, sinusitis. If it works than you know what it is. Then you need to figure out why it happens like if it is allergy or sinusitis and treat it more specifically if you want to. Once way to rule in allergy is antihistamine like Benedryl. If you take an antihistamine and it stops it's more likely rhinitis.
Avatar f tn I would recommend you see your primary care physician for prescription allergy medication like a nasal steroid spray or an antihistamine by mouth. If medical treatment does not work, you might want to see an allergist or an ENT who does allergy testing for further treatment.
850029 tn?1238857820 I can control the fragrance part of it but had chronic sinus infections due to my other allergies after I took myself off it. I do nasal rinses, take nasal spray and try to minimize the allergens around me and it really feels like the Zyrtec doesn't little. And its not even spring allergy time in Minnesota!!!!!
Avatar m tn A couple of months ago my fiance and I got a cat, the first day I had an allergic reaction immediately, red eyes, sneezing and nasal congestion.
Avatar n tn You should try steam inhalation, saline nasal drops and oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine, loratadine for your complaints and see if it helps with your symptoms. You should still see your doctor and get a clinical examination for a diagnosis and to evaluate if any investigations are required including blood tests, chest xray and CT scan of the sinuses. Are you allergic to any specific substances or have you had allergic reactions in the past?
Avatar m tn Allergy headaches present with generalized headache, nasal congestion, and watery eyes. Seasonal allergens and antihistamine medications, as mentioned by dame may help provide relief. Avoidance of the trigger may also help. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn sinus rinse with a NielMed bottle (you could use a neti pot but the bottle is more effective - most effective part of my allergy routine), antihistamine like Zyrtec or Allegra (generics would be fine), then prescription meds like a nasal steroid or antihistamine. You could try OTC GERD meds as well like Zantec, Prilosec, or Zegrid. See a dr so that you know exactly what to treat and feel better.
Avatar f tn If it is bothersome you can try OTC NasalCrom about 10 minutes before you head out. Also, nasal antihistamine sprays like Patanase should help a lot. Lastly, atrovent in nasal spray form would definitely dry up the drip. Take care and run better.
Avatar n tn You should try steam inhalation just before you sleep and also saline nasal drops. Breathing exercises also are known to help in some cases. You could try oral antihistamine or antiallergic medications for a few days. If your symptoms still persist, you should consult your doctor and talk to him / her about your symptoms in detail and also whether you need to see an allergy specialist or ENT specialist. Let us know if you have any doubts and also keep us posted on how you are doing.

Avatar m tn From the age of 18, I have suffered from uncontrolled asthma and severe nasal allergies. I have had extensive testing that proved inconclusive. I also suffer from severe dryness, cracking of the skin (confined to the palms of my hands, soles of my feet one elbow... anywhere a callous has formed). Basically, it looks like an allergic reaction. I get periodic bouts of hive and itchiness, like it is in my veins. I have also broken out in hives like large polka-dots over my skin.
Avatar m tn You may benefit from seeing a doctor and getting a nasal steroid spray and nasal antihistamine spray. Those really help my nasal allergy symptoms. Also, there is an OTC nasal spray here called NasalCrom. It contains cromolyn which is a mast cell stabilizer. Basically it stops the allergic reaction at the source, the nose. It has to be used every four hours though. My personal experience is that I would feel better on the island - fewer pollens to contend with.
Avatar f tn The worst ones that bother me the most are the EXTREME fatigue, irritability, and the dizziness. I am suppose to take allergy shots but cannot tolerate them. Every time they increase the dose, I react and we have to stop. I have tried and tried to do them but after 4 failed attempts, I am done trying. I have tried medications and am currently on a prescription nasal spray which helps a little bit not enough.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, your symptoms are suggestive of rhinosinusitis (ARS) which is a symptomatic inflammation of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. Allergy is a strong possibility. There may be a bacterial or viral infection associated with the allergy. Sinusitis can be associated with pressure feeling or headache. Firstly you need to undergo thorough physical examination; the blind swab or Endoscopic or sinus aspirate can be cultured to rule out secondary bacterial infection.
