Avatar f tn I'm scheduled to have a VNG on Tuesday at 3:15pm. I'm a migraine sufferer and I haven't gotten a clear answer from the audiologist about whether Effexor and Topamax will interfere with the results of the VNG. My neurologist has told me that I'm not allowed to stop those. I also have a question about muscle relaxers like Amrix and Zanaflex. I'm trying to go off of my meclazine and this morning has shown me that the next four days are going to be really rough.

Avatar f tn Keep track of all the medications that seem to cause the hives, and maybe even experiment with whether different generics of the same medication have the same side effects (for example one generic atarax is green and another white, which might make a difference if you are allergic to that particular coloring agent). You may even have to have an allergist help you figure out what exactly it is that you are allergic to.

Avatar f tn Hi, Before any injectable antibiotic is given, a sensitivity testing is done by giving a small dose of the medication subcutaneously and watching for any redness or itching. In case of oral antibiotics, no such testing is available. Do not worry about any future infections happening. Whenever any antibiotics are prescribed, you need to tell your doctor about the allergies your son has.

Avatar f tn Since you developed the outbreak after you started the medication, the most likely cause would be the medication. So, therapy lies in avoiding the allergen and anti-histamines. So, wean yourself of the steroids and if the present antihistamines are not very effective you can consult your doctor for long acting ones. Regards.
Avatar f tn There are many other name brands for that class of medicine. Astepro is a nasal spray antihistamine. It stops the sinus cells from reacting to allergens. There are only two meds in this category. Astepro and Patanase. There is an older version of Astepro called Astelin which may stil be available to you, but the company is working to phase it out. Also a prescription strength antihistamine like Allegra might be a good idea. Feel better and hang in there.

I have looked all over the internet and I cannot find anything. Surely some studies have been done.

Avatar m tn An allergy can be to anything that you come into contact with, smoke, animals, dust, perfumes, pollen, the list is endless. The person you need to see is your own doctor. He will be able to examine your throat to see if you do have an infection. For a sore throat, buy some medicated lozenges and use these as directed on the packet. A hot drink with freshly squeezed lemon and honey is good to soothe a sore throat. Salt gargles and spit can also help.
