Antihistamine in nyquil

Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine in nyquil

It is important to read the drug label on the NyQuil product you have. NyQuil by VICKS contains many different products under cold and flu. Please review all the active ingredients with your OBGYN and pharmacist to see if they are appropriate with your stage of pregnancy.
I'm not real sure about this problem. I know there is alcohol in nyquil, but I'm pretty sure you've just become dependant on a sleep aid. Have you even tried to sleep without it some nites? I'm sure it will be hard at first and may take a while to fall asleep but after a few days or so, you should be fine. Sorry, I just don't know what to say about this. Someone else will be on in the AM and maybe can help.
He drinks Nyquil because he doesn't consider that a relapse. If he doesn't pick up a bottle then he can say that he's still sober. DENIAL.
it also says in CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY section ((Whole body autoradiographic studies in rats and monkeys, radiolabeled tissue distribution studies in mice and rats, and in vivoradioligand studies in mice have shown that neither loratadine nor its metabolites readily cross the blood-brain barrier.
is there antihistamines in nyquil my son took it last night and I wanna know if i need to reschedule my appt
I would be careful taking Advil PM as it has an antihistamine in it and might make RLS worse. I mistakenly took Nyquil with an antihistamine in it and had the shakes real bad. So be cautious..
Dear Jesspa527: As long you followed the label direction, you are within normal dosing range, based on what you posted. Over the counter ibuprofen (Advil) is 200 mg of ibuprofen per tablet. So, your dose of 2 tablets is 400 mg per dose, which is within the normal dosing range. Ibuprofen is best taken with food or milk to help minimize stomach irritation and always take it as directed, whether if it is prescription or over the counter. NyQuil has several cold and flu products.
For wd pain I took ibuprofen 800mg every6 hrs max2400mg/day,and tylenol 1000mg every 4 hrs max 4000mg/24hrs. At night for a few nights I took Nyquil without the decongestant instead of the tylenol. It contains 1000mf tylenol, doxylamine(an antihistamine causing drowsiness) and dextrmethorphan a very mild opiate that I believe soothes the opiate receptors. The nyquil can be habitforming so you have to limit it to only a week or so.
Vistaril is an older antihistamine that acts as a sedative just like Benadryl or Doxylamine Succinate, which is the antihistamine found in Nyquil. since you're anxious only occasionally vistaril could help.
help i need sleep on day 8. i toss and turn worse now than in the first few days of w/ds.. could this be paws? does anyone have any ideas how to sleep. took melatonia and nyquil last night.
ingredient in Tylenol PM. I suspect it is also in NyQuil or any other OTC that advertises sleep help. It is an antihistamine. Quix pointed out recently that it can cause excitement and may make RLS worse.
Hi, any form of opiate-based meds raise the pressures in the common bile duct and for those with problems of the duct it will result in extreme pain. So, morphine can cause spasmodic pain. Antihistamines are not known to cause bile duct spasms. If the pain is severe, anti spasmodics will help with your symptoms. You can try nasal sprays, they are locally acting with minimal systemic absorption and effects and they will help with your symptoms. Regards.
Do you still experience nasal congestion or difficulty in breathing? Antihistamine medication or decongestants may help provide relief. It is important that you rest and drink plenty of fluids and ascorbic acid. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation.
Knowing that Flu like symptoms were a side effect, I did get a Flu shot in August, prior to tx. Today, right now, I really feel like I am fighting off a cold or Flu. Can I take something like Nyquil but without alcohol??? Thanks. Just took the day off sick yesterday, and don't want to be out tomorrow.
I was told back years ago i had asthma but no dr i've seen since that time has treated me for it or even mentioned it as a possibility. I'm currently on Zithromax antibiotic and taking Nyquil cough at night, to try to help with the coughing. Although with little help. I'm also suffering stress incontenence due to the cough. So any advice would be greatly appreciated.
These allergens, when exposed to initiate immune mediated reactions which will result in the symptoms you experience. The allergic history usually runs in families. So, the problem can be tackled at three levels. At the allergen level, where you can consult an allergy specialist, who after doing some skin tests, will be able to specify some allergens. You can either avoid exposure to these allergens or desensitize yourself. The second level is prevention of the attacks.
I've always had super bad allergies and the only thing I've found that works is DayQuil/NyQuil and obviously can't take that being 10 weeks pregnant. I seriously miss being able to breathe! Anyone know of a SAFE and effective allergy/sinus OTC medicine I can take???
She told me it was a virus and didn't give me anything. She checked my chest and said it was clear and looked in my ears and said there was no redness swelling etc. Said try breathing in steam etc etc Over the next day or so I started to feel very weak and tired. On the Thurday I vomited what only can be described as stomach bile (bright orange with chunks of dark mucas inside) and have had diorrea since that day also.
I do also have a slight ear ache on both sides. I did have diabetes in the past but was able to get off medication because of diet and exercise but have gained a lot of the weight back.
The regular red sudafed without the antihistamine in it and robitussin I was told by my RE are safe. I had terrible head cold moving into my chest just a week before my IVF. Also drink plenty of fluids, orange juice also. Use a humidifier and take two showers a day , 10 min long, helps to loosen the congestion. Best of luck to you!
do i need to use the baby vicks i thought about putting it in toilet paper puttin it in a sock in in his pjay...we are going to my moms friday so..i will get some rest..
that ingredient is the antihistamine in Nyquil at a much larger strength. It made me sleep but severely dried out my mouth, eyes and sinuses. Last night I had a pretty good night with just a half an Ambien....maybe that's ok.
Melatonin causes has no hangover, and so far, it seems to be a benign sleep aid when used sparingly. By the way, the other ingredient in Nyquil that makes one sleepy is ethyl alcohol. I would think it preferable to enjoy a nice glass of wine before bed than a slug of Nyquil.
I need some help regarding nasal congestion. I live in Texas and, man, is the pollen bad here. I’d never even had allergies until I moved out to this place, but since I have, they are SEVERE. It’s not so much sinus pressure – I get the occasional headache, but nothing asprin can’t fix – but the congestion puts me down every time. Now here’s my dilemma… Does anything work?!
First i took an antibiotic generic of biaxin- then in a little bit I took my vitamins, calcium, vitamin c and vitamin e , then a little later i took that mucinex only one.
At the lower end, its a potent sleep med which works in a similar fashion as an antihistamine. The dosing range for seroquel is enormous, anywhere from 25mgs to 800mgs. For sleep 25-100mgs is all you'd need. Seroquel frankly saved my *** in early recovery, when I was desperate for sleep, and it also has a very pronounced anxiolytic effect as well, and as we know, sleep and anxiety tend to run in the same circles.
i know im probably not in the right forum...but you ladies have helped me about before here i had a real bad sinus infection back in january...and ever since i have had post nasal bad at times i cant even swallow (theres so much stuff in my throat) I cant cough it up...and when i do happen to get some out..its clear, but with small green chunks (sorry, gross but no other way to describe it) its driving me nuts..and i keep thinking maybe it will just go away.
Also, make sure you are taking a multi-vitamin everyday AND get yourself some GABA (in health food stores). Trust me, I was CRAWLING until I discovered the GABA. It doesn't get rid of it but it seemed to take the 'edge' off for me. The no-sleep is a killer...I suffered from it really bad. Can you talk to a doctor? there are things they can give you to knock you out for a few hours that aren't habit forming (i.e. trazadone). I vote you stay away from the benzos...
Nyquil cold medicine without the decongestant...must be without the decongestant helps sleep at night. The only problem it can become habit forming,so do not let yourself rely on it for a long time, only to help get through the first few days.It contains acetaminophen, doxylamine(antihistamine) and dextromethorphan a super mild opiate that suppresses the cough centre in the brain.I think the dm also helps soothe the opiate receptors during withdrawal. The liquid contains alcohol so again be careful.
