Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine for swelling

antihistamine

Avatar f tn The optipranolol has nothing to do with the floaters so let's put that aside. The "swelling" could be due to allergies in which case the optipranolol might help possibly and you can take that drop as long as you need to under the supervision of your doctor since it approved for allergic conjunctivitis. The "swelling" could also be related to other things like fluid retention in the body or natural weight gain and puffiness due to age and genetics.
Avatar f tn Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
Avatar m tn thanks for the reply, yes i googled that before messaging and the only one it shows is Seldane, because of the problem with this antihistamine and that it had been taking off the market (not a newer antihistamine), i wanted to know of any other antihistamines? are there no others for enlarged prostate sufferers? 2nd question is after stopping the intake of antihistamine that effect the prostate, woiuld these be a short term effect and the prostate goes back to how it was?
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it

Avatar f tn Should also mention that he did not prescribe an antibiotic and antihistamine, but an antihistamine, something to calm my stomach which is also a mild antihistamine, and a corticosteroid for the inflammation.
Avatar f tn ve been having false eyelashes for about a year , but the last time I had them I reacted to them almost immediately- swollen bottom eyelids and red , I saw gp who said i needed them off and gave me an antihistamine, any way since then I have been suffering intermittent swollen bottom eyelids ( mainly my right eye) , it will be ok for maybe a week and then just randomly swell again , if I take an antihistamine quickly the swelling goes down again for maybe a week ?? Any ideas ?
Avatar f tn Okay, here is my story,I am 28 and I have just been diagnosed with chronic hives and swelling, I am allergic to myself.....FUN! After 8 months of constant hives, lip swelling, eye swelling and finger swelling, i went to an allergist and got prescribed Xyzal. It worked great for the first 2 weeks and i was over joyed to have my life back! But the past few days, some hives have started to come back. I have been taking benadryl along with the xyzal as needed.
Avatar f tn One is for bacteria and the other is an antihistamine, but neither is indicated for swelling per se. It could even be something about using them in combination that is helping. Talk to your doctor.
Avatar f tn t itchy, but I could feel my sinuses swell a bit along with my tear ducts swelling. I took an antihistamine, which I haven't taken in a long while. The antihistamine alone was okay, but combine it with using my contacts, and my eyes swell. I don't know if it's the saline or contact solution. So, I stopped the meds, and it went away. My contacts alone are fine. No issues. Last week, I took an antihistamine before getting my allergy injection, and I was fine.

Avatar n tn I have been taking 250 mg of Naxodil three times a day for tendonitis of my right leg concluding with my last dose on 1/26 at 7:30 AM. I never experienced an allergic reaction. On 1/26 at 10:30 PM I took a 10 mg dose of Levitra after a dinner during which I consumed two alcoholic drinks (whisky with water and a glass of white wine). In the course of the early morning I experienced some itching in my genital area.
Avatar n tn First you need to stay on antihistamine until it is gone. Benadryl is great stuff. You should see a GP or allergist doctor. You definitely had a reaction to that sting and are still having it. Sounds like the ER ruled out anaphylaxis but you did have Benadryl in you so that I'm not sure about the results. Just stay on antihistamine on schedule to prevent something worst.
Avatar f tn I went to the GP this morning and he gave me a prescription for prednisone which he said would help the swelling to go down. He said if it didn't work or got worse I was to go to the ER again. I took the prednisone about 3 1/2 hours ago. The swelling is still there, I can't tell if it's any better yet. Not worse fortunately. My question is, how long should the prednisone take to work, and when should I consider going to the hospital again?
Avatar f tn Now it has started happening when I have been out in my yard. Summer is just starting and I have already been to the doctor for swelling, and itching on my right ankle. Can anyone help????
Avatar f tn Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
Avatar f tn Here's one for the books. My daughter has had a allergic reaction to an oral antihistamine she took for what appeared to be hives just below the right side of her derriere. This little bout of hives were taking their time going away and so she thought by taking the antihistamine it would help the process.
Avatar n tn no I don't but some time back a person sent pictures of the same thing and it woudl quite dramatic. Perhaps you migraines release histamine which is the chemical that causes swelling and hives in allergic people.
Avatar n tn My son was just stung by a wasp on his eyebrow and it has caused his eye to swell shut. The ice didn't really help the swelling but he is not complaining of anything besides it being sore. When should the swelling subside and is there anything in a wasp venom that could affect his vision? What should we look for as the night/a.m. progresses? thank you!
501096 tn?1320874932 This morning I awoke when a sore and swollen tongue. It looked a little whitish, but not like thrush. The edges of my tongue felt bumpy (not tiny little spots, just an irregular surface). I had a difficult time eating breakfast due to the soreness. I took an antihistamine, but I don't know if it helped or not. I also have some mild tenderness & swelling just under the left side of my chin; however, it is more noticeable to the touch rather than by observation.
Avatar n tn Do the teeth need to be removed if it's an allergy? Or will it go down with time? What should she take for the swelling in the mean time? If the crowns need to be removed what happens then?
Avatar f tn 24 hours after the shots the swellings came back. Antihistamine pills did not help at all. Swelling on feet, and itchy red patches on my palms... struggling with that for 2-3 days i had to get shots so i can get some relief for at least 24 hours... then i went on strict food diet... who knows after how many shots and 70 days after, itching is bearable and swellings are rear... 9 days since the last shots. I’m getting better unless I eat something else then twice-baked bread and yogurt...
