Avatar m tn After taking amoxicillin (for dog bite to ear) only took them for 2 days as bad stomach upset and weak feeling/pain in arms & erythromycin about 3 to 4 weeks later for pimples on scalp about 4 to 5 days after the stopping the erythromycin due to bad stomach upset (going to toilet 5 to 6 times a day) my wrists went very red and sore (worse on right hand) dominant hand and also my hands constant flushing/hot/sore (could not even but hands in jean pockets so sore) Was given antihistamine shot
Avatar n tn And so it has for me. It makes sense. Bacteria breeds in patches on warm damp skin, and makes it itch. Scratching carries the infection - as do tights, socks, the contents of jars of unguents kept in warm bathrooms. Maintain scrupulous hygeine - boil your tights or replace! - and both the rash and the itch disappears. . Steroid creams have not touched the problem, or antibiotics - just old fashioned disinfectant did it in a week. One thousand sleepless nights are in the past.
Avatar f tn They had given me a steroid shot and steroid pills to continue taking for about 8-10 days. Along with a antihistamine. They worked and rash was cleared up. The same rash appeared about 2 weeks later again i went to the doctor and they did the same routine (steroid and antihistamine). Cleared up again. Now 2 weeks later the same rash is back but not as severe. This time there is redness in my face as well.
Avatar n tn The doctor gave me some hydrocortrosone cream but did not say what the rash was. It is now spreading to my neck & chin. It is very itchy & sore. Any ideas what it could be?
Avatar f tn I keep good hygiene, i shower everyday and use a lotion for sensistive skin everyday. my skin is not dry, and this rash thing is only in one spot and i never had this before. well i just e-mailed my mom and she says i dont have Eczema. she says its really ugly and you get scabs and normally is not in one spot. so i would beleive her because she has a friend that has Eczema and it doesn't look like what i have.
Avatar f tn i have had a strange rash inside the buttocks for about 3 weeks now. its dry and some what red but not very itchy unless touched. Its also on my pubic bone, at first i thought it was an allergic reaction because im living in a very hot tropical climate plus the shaving. Im getting a bit worried that it might be an STD. What is it, i started taking antibiotics, im in cambodia and the medical service is pretty much non existant. What kind of pills should i be taking or cream? Please help.
Avatar f tn ve called my dermatologist and she suggested the antihistamine, also. I have been taking benadryl for about four days and the rash has cleared up quite a bit but it still isn't completely gone. Your answer helped me alot, thank you again!!
Avatar m tn I have been Experiencing a pretty nasty skin rash on my chest, Lower back, under arms and stomach since I have stated a low-carb diet. When I noticed the rash about 6 months ago I was just trying the program for the first time and neither myself or my doctor connected the two together. After about 2 weeks of induction (less than 20 carbs per day) I began to slowly reintroduce foods back into my diet and the rash began to fade away.
Avatar f tn Contact dermatitis is a localized rash or irritation of the skin caused by contact with a foreign substance. Only the superficial regions of the skin are affected in contact dermatitis. You need to wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene .
Avatar n tn I already know what the issue is with the rash. I was looking for a true solution, not a generic one. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response. As to your questions: still no itching, no burning, no "hot to the touch". Live alone; only people I've been in close contact with in past 7 days (daughter-in-law, young granddaughters, & sister) don't have a rash. No to sexual contact, no to shaving/waxing/exfoliation. Have dealt with several bouts of yeast skin infections in the past; this is different.

Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin.

Avatar n tn For about 22years now, I have had this chronic unyielding, head to toe itch with no rash. The only thing that helps is a daily antihistamine. There is no rash or real explanation on what the true trigger is. Doctors think it's in my head. I take a daily allergy pill and have for 22 years.
Avatar f tn Here's one for the books. My daughter has had a allergic reaction to an oral antihistamine she took for what appeared to be hives just below the right side of her derriere. This little bout of hives were taking their time going away and so she thought by taking the antihistamine it would help the process.
Avatar n tn My son is 7yrs old. For the past one month his skin develops small patches of red skin which disappears after a while like within an hour or two. The patch is non-irritable. Can u pls. help me understand this and suggest a treatment.
Avatar n tn I have had a rash on and around my vaginal area. It burns and itches and I have had it for two weeks. I have tried over the counter creams and corn starch. The area is raw in some places. I have not had intercourse in over a year. The only thing that I found at home to work was and old perscription for triamcinolone acetonide cream.
Avatar f tn You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.Application of topical steroids like dermacort will also help. If the symptoms become severe, then oral steroids are needed for whih prescription of a dermatologist is required. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.
