Antihistamine for puffy eyes

Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine for puffy eyes

antihistamine

At first i just thought it was dust etc but over the last few weeks the condition has got worse. Every morning when i wake up my eyes are really puffy, eyelids appear swollen, they feel sore and slightly bloodshot. This carries on throughout the day but slightly improves throughout the day, but then worsens again towards the end of the day. They are itchy a lot too.
Also, the antihistamine diphenhydramine hydrochloride (Benadryl) may help to relieve itchy eyes. If treated properly, the prognosis for conjunctivitis is good. Conjunctivitis caused by an allergic reaction should clear up once the allergen is removed. However, allergic conjunctivitis will likely recur if the individual again comes into contact with the particular allergen. ref:http://www.myonlinewellness.com/topic/allconj http://en.wikipedia.
those are some SERIOUS side effects. Made me feel like a little wuss! I dont remember about the puffy eyes but Diane was posting recently about nasal problems - maybe it is all connected somehow. Did you try an antihistamine of any kind maybe that could help?
For the last 10 weeks I have woken up with terribly puffy eyes. It started with the right eye, from the corner of my eye it swells out above my lid so much so that you can't see the 'crease' of my eye - and directly underneath my eye. This spread to my other eye when I applied eye drops. My eyes are sometimes itchy and are a little red. The symptoms usually get better at lunch time, but still are notably puffy and red. I have been to countless pharmacists and doctors - but to no avail.
You told me of the alidel, that is topical, right? try the Atarax, it is an antihistamine, it is also used for tx of anxiety and tension and as a sedative. unbelievable. I would check interactions with the mental health meds, tho.
I have had this puffy, red, tender eye thing for about a week now. My right eye is swollen and red. Both eyes have this patchy dry spots on them. Everybody has mention dry eyelids but has anyone had dry patches? I have dry flaky patches under my eye and above my eyelid on the brow bone.
but it's not working they aren't the right kind have eye drops I'm guessing. after I get the crust around my eyes off my eyes are red and pink and puffy. my dad says I have Conjunctivitis. I don't know what that is or how to take of it or how I got. can someone please me?
Other considerations are errors of refraction since there is involvement of the eyes and that area. Try to have your eyes checked also for further evaluation. Ice packs and over-the-counter pain medications may help provide relief. But the best management is identification of the trigger. Take care and best regards.
When I wake up in the morning my eyes are puffy with deep circles under them. Im only 22, and have never had problems with eye circles or any puffiness, this started gradually two months ago. I get enough sleep at night but am generally tired throughout the day and my eyes feel heavy. I over wore a pair of contacts, but got new ones, thinking that might be the cause but it hasn't changed much at all. I did have a cold that lasted for two weeks about a month before this started.
I carried saline spray with me to work for my sinuses and regular use of that seemed to help a great deal. Because I had other allergy type issues from the meds (red puffy eyes, etc) I also used benadryl and/or zyrtec. I carried an extra purse with me to work each day that had tons of symptom relievers in it...
Recently I havent even be able to use my usual lip balm as my lips react to that as well and my eyes are puffing up and getting extremly itchy and stinging. I was heading overseas for 3 weeks and the doctor have me some tablets to take to clear up my lips as she said they looked like they had a staff infection. Whilst I was OS all my symptoms cleared up completely and within 2 days of returing home everything started up again!
What could this be a sign of? Is it normal for my eyes to get puffy from allergies? Please give me some ideas for narrowing down the cause.
Cal and I've been experiencing the same thing everyone else is saying. When I wake up, my eyes are blurry and feel gritty, and it takes a while for them to get clear. I'm going to go to the doc and see what's up.
During a second course of antibiotics to get rid of a chest infection a female relative of mine experienced vaginal itching a sore throat hard to swollow and sore red irratible eyes also with a blotchy puffy rash on her face and torso. She treated the vaginal itching for thrush and her doctor believed the rest of the symptoms to be an allergic reaction to antibiotics, yet she had been taking the antibiotic for more than five days before these symptoms occured.
she was fine when i got there, but when we were done she was stuffy and her eyes were a little puffy... so she's going ot get an allergy test done for that..... but my question is that if she keeps exposing herself to this could the allergy get worse?
Hi, Allergies can be of variable intensity and severity and wax and wane over time in many cases. But you could be having the headaches to some other cause too - related to your blood pressure, migraines, lack of sleep, vision problems, sinusitis etc. Have yoou noticed any other symptoms which could point to either of these? Have you tried taking antihistamine medications ? Have they helped? Does your headache respond to pain relief medications?
i had a severe allergic reaction. my scalp was burning and my eyes got puffy. i found out i was allergic to hair dyes. i have been on several corticsteroids. it was very frustrating. go to a dermatologist to get patch testing. if you need someone to talk to i am here.
Hello, I have a 24 month old, who, about 2 weeks ago, started getting very puffy eyes, and a red bumpy rash on her face, neck, arms and legs. The pediatrician believes it was the sunscreen that we were using - we started giving her Benaydrl. The rash seems to be clearing, flash forward another week, and now we have very puffy eyes, with a red splotchy rash ( not bumps) all over her face and belly, as well as a low (~100) fever, and a runny nose. Upon taking her back, the dr.

I feel pressure on my head and behind my eyes. I am having memory loss. I get sharp pain headaches. I am always dizzy! I feel derealization. I see dark at times- I feel like I lose my vision for a few seconds. I hear swooshing noises along with my heartbeat especially when I lay down. Blurry vision. I'm starting to suspect pseudotumor celebri. I am a young woman who is overweight.
It's been four days since it was last used and my pain is getting worse and worse as time goes on! Yesterday I woke up with puffy eyes, all over redness, bumps, dryness, pain, and so much itchiness. Today, on top of these symptoms, I have a red bumpy rash on my cheeks and, oddly enough, under my chin where product was not even used. Is this normal for symptoms to progress so long after stopping? I'm traveling and away from home otherwise I'd try to get into a dermatologist.
Sometimes the itching affects my eyes and I tend to rub them, making them quite puffy but again it goes away as soon as I stop. What could this possibly be? I'm at my wits end with this as no one has any advice or answers for me.
I am 15 and have EXTREMELY dry skin allover my face, particularly around my mouth, chin and cheeks. It is red, puffy and irritated. No matter how much moisturiser I put on, it is permenantly dry. Each morning I apply Hydrocortisone Cream 1% which a dermatologist prescribed when I was younger. And also Avene Moisturiser for very dry skin (I also apply this throughout the day if needed). At night I apply DHC Virgin Olive Oil Moisturiser after cleansing with DHC Cleansing Oil.

I'm not a doctor, but I do have a tendency towards puffy eyes. I know that one cause is allergy, and if your eye swelling comes and goes with the seasons, allergy is a real possibility. I know that another cause is that I chose my parents badly: My mom had major eye bags, and she passed them on to me. Thanks, Mom.
I was told it was an allergic reaction and given a perscription for antihistamine. I did expect to wake today and the swelling be gone but it isn't. My face feels tender to touch and is tingly. I have been back to the doctor today and she as assured me it is an allergy and to give it time to ease, keep taking the tablets. I am interested in the reaction to inversions in yoga theory though. Could it be that or did that speed up the allergic reaction that was enevitable anyway.
He advised me to take Zyxol (sp?) antihistamine 2hrs before shots. Well, that seemed to work for a several weeks. But the last two shots I had produced a different problem. I do not have an immediate reaction anymore. I am fine when I leave the office. But within an hour or so, I feel soo tired and slightly nauseous and I have to go to sleep.
And I required a thorough flushing of my eyes and antihistamine eye drops for the reaction to stop. It felt like someone put acid in my eyes. My ophthalmologist no longer puts it in my eyes. She has to use lidocaine without preservatives.
