Avatar n tn My blood pressure has gone up to 180 over 100. The only change I have made in my life style is to take Patanol eye drops for allergy eyes. I have been using them once daily for 4 months. Could it be that this antihistamine can be causing this increase in my blood pressure? I am allergic to the drugs used for controling blood pressure and prior to this successfully lowered my pressure by exercise and diet.It is normal for me to have a reading of 130 over 80. I am 59 years old. I weigh 110 pounds.
Avatar n tn it lowers your blood pressure; and while most people in detox, your blood pressure gets high week one, Anyone with low blood pressure or ALREADY on another Blood pressure med this can be very dangerous. See about switching to Clonidine for a week or 2 if already on another Blood pressure lowerer. During Day 4 to 8 keep up with the 2X per day Epson salt baths and ease up on the Clonidine and Klonopin (talk with family Dr.
Avatar n tn The answer is it depends upon the etiology of the high blood pressure There are several different reasons for high blood pressure. For example, eighteen percent of people with high blood pressure can reduce the pressure by taking simple calcium supplements. That study was funded by a company manufacturing calcium-channel blockers, for whom I worked briefly two decades ago.

Avatar n tn Tea does not trigger a blood pressure spike, for most people. Tea has compounds in it that counteract what caffeine does to blood pressure, so the net effect is a wash. If you like tea, and you have high blood pressure, you're probably better off drinking tea than coffee.

Avatar m tn I am now on an appeal for a new treatment after being turned down by my insurance company.Has anybody with similar symptons experienced sudden high blood pressure and found out what might have caused it.The doc I saw in the emergency room couldn't answer why it happened.
Avatar n tn My mother is horrible with advocating for herself. Her PCP told her that she may just have to live with high blood pressure. Could this be true????I don't think they are treating it aggressively enough.
Avatar m tn Welcome and thanks for the question. 210/110 is VERY high. A prescription for Lisinorpil is a good start, but her doctor really needs to be working her up to find an underlying cause and resolving that issue. I could be idiopathic meaning there is no cause, but she should be checked. She should be on the DASH diet and exercising to bring her levels down, with her doctor's approval. Having said that, it could have been high due to anxiety as well.
Avatar n tn Pain will cause the BP to raise. I have a friend who is in severe pain constantly and her BP went up to 240/120 at one point. Needless to say, she went to the ER and is on BP medication. Under stress my BP will run around 160/100 when standing and dip to 139/89 when sitting. Since I'm always under stress, it's high. The doctors didn't seem too worried with these readings, although for me life style changes are in order.
Avatar m tn Beetroot is a source of dietary nitrate, previously found to reduce blood pressure in healthy individuals with normal blood pressure. Nitrates are broken down in the body and promote the production of nitric oxide (NO), a critical compound made in the inner surface of blood vessels (the endothelial lining). NO serves an important function in maintaining the proper dilation of blood vessels. A deficiency is associated with endothelial dysfunction and elevated blood pressure.
1398693 tn?1343684738 There is a differentiation with diastolic and age. For the younger people, the diastolic blood pressure is an important metric. The diastolic blood pressure has been and remains, especially for younger people, an important hypertension number. Your comment..."maintaining a high diastolic can cause artery disease and gives a much higher risk of heart attack, stroke..." refers to younger individuals (recheck your source)...
Avatar m tn Less pressure means less glucose and oxygen to brain so the brain will get your head a ground level so that it can get the needed glucose and oxygen which is why people faint...........High blood pressure will most likely cause a headache, but then again anything is possible. I keep my pressure low with 400 mg magnesium, 5 grams time release vitamin c, cayenne pepper capsules, walking about 30 minutes daily, and 10 mg Lisinopril.
Avatar f tn In many people it is a genetic predisposition, so they will continue to have high blood pressure even if they do everything correctly. These are the ones that will need to take blood pressure medication until further notice from their doctor. Most of those with high blood pressure fall into three categories of cause: 1. those with too much fluid in their system 2. those with contraction of the arterioles forcing the pressure to rise 3. those with a high heart rate forces pressure to increase.
212161 tn?1599427282 With meds mine hovers around 120/70 but without meds it goes to 140/99-104 which is a BIT high :) However, I recently read a paper written by a cardiologist who states too many people end up on meds for blood pressure who don't need them, and many people who do need them are not given meds. How is this possible? Apparently many patients with high blood pressure at home due to lots of stress seem to calm down a lot in the waiting room for a Doctor, or when admitted into hospital.
Avatar f tn m taking meds for my high blood pressure. Seems to be working really well every check since it has been 120/70 .
Avatar m tn If you look at old forum threads on Blood Pressure and TX, you will find that many people develop high BP, Metabolic Syndrome, Thyroid problems, and even autoimmunity after doing tx. The BP issue seems to appear in many right after getting off of tx. Search for old threads and you will find lots of info on this subject. Personally I think that the high BP that appears for a group of us after tx may come from the development of a degree of autoimmunity.
Avatar n tn I'm sure this is probably nothing, but I've recently been referred to the hospital for tests due to high blood pressure. I'm only 24 and not over weight but have had blood pressure readings at the doctors office as high as 180/120. I had an appointment with a general specialist who didn't come to any conclusion as to what could be causing it. I have had numerous blood tests and ecg's.
1057171 tn?1273139221 In about 10% of people, high blood pressure is caused by another disease (this is called secondary hypertension). In such cases, when the root cause is treated, blood pressure usually returns to normal.
Avatar m tn Hi, While I generally agree with the above comments, it is also important for you to bring down your high pressure with medication, never neglect it. If not treated, it can lead to irreversible strokes. While taking medications, you can do other techniques to regulate your pressure and bring down the dosage of the medicine slowly. Many times high pressure may be a symptom of some problems with kidney, brain, heart, arteries, or cholesterol levels.
646105 tn?1223653476 I am tracking my own blood pressure three times a day and I watch my blood pressure spike about 2-3 hours after taking the Synthroid and go to normal/low by late in the day. I am going off it slowly because going off it too quickly can cause some serious issues with your heart.
