antihistamine

666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn Yesterday, I asked: Can antihihistamine Eye Drops, enter your system through your eyes? While the question seems somewhat idiotic, I am highly allergic to antihistamines. They knock me out for extended periods of time, by making me lethargic, and extremely drowsy and sluggish. I used an antihistamine eye drop yesterday, and, shortly, had all the above symptoms. My question is simply, can one's system absorb antihistamines through the use of antihistamine eye drops?
Avatar n tn I had an itchy left eye (not much in the right eye) for several days. Oral antihistamine did not work, neither did some dated eye moistener (not sure if fresh would work better) and one other OTC eye drop. Got no relief. Next I tried Similasan Allergy Eye Relief. My eye improved immediately and after three or four days of using these drop 3 or 4 times a day and the itch is gone. I have used the drops only once a day, some days not at all. Not sure it was allergic or something else.
Avatar f tn s skin feel dry so I would not discount the importance of taking an antihistamine to stop the itch and redness. At this point I encourage you to keep an eye on it and do not let it escalate. I am not saying it will but some side effects are difficult to contain once they have snowballed.
535882 tn?1396576685 , taking an antihistamine, plus eye drops. allergy, eye drops, plus doing saline nose rinse. ice pack, eyes also itch a little. any suggestion?
Avatar m tn You may have heard there are now antihistamine eyedrops available over the counter to help with eye itch and redness due to certain allergies. There are also prescription eyedrops to help with allergy. If you haven't already done so, you might discuss your specific eye allergy problems with an eye doctor to see if there are any sterile preparations for the eye that could help and might be safer to use than the Eyebright. Good luck.
Avatar n tn About a month ago, I wore an undershirt that was new from the department store without washing it. The very next day, my upper body started to itch like crazy. I went to see the dermatologist and took prescribed medicine for about three weeks. Two weeks have passed since I last took medicine, the rash is subtle, but I think it's spreading down to my lower body. I don't know what to do. I can barely see the bumps. But it itches a lot.
6708370 tn?1471490210 What medication successfully controlled your itch? Especially for those who had tiny red bumps that actually hurt - always, when one is trying to sleep?
1936411 tn?1333831849 ve heard of that might help with the itch are trying the over the counter antihistamines or antihistamine hydroxyzine (Atarax), anticonvulsants (e.g. gabapentin, carbamazepine, phenytoin), antidepressants (e.g. amitriptyline, paroxetine, mirtazapine), and even Pregabelin (Lyrica)....
Avatar f tn If it comes to it I will get him the other things she suggested (an antihistamine sp? to dry the snot and something else for his eye) but it seems that she will just keep suggesting things and 3 new payments down the way I don't want her to be like "oh well its not even pink eye!" Help!
Avatar n tn For about 22years now, I have had this chronic unyielding, head to toe itch with no rash. The only thing that helps is a daily antihistamine. There is no rash or real explanation on what the true trigger is. Doctors think it's in my head. I take a daily allergy pill and have for 22 years.
Avatar f tn I have swollen eyelids that come and go, almost like hives, but rarely itch. Can be one or several. On omnicef for sinus infection, but doctor doesn't think this is causing it. Before omincef had a sulfer type med that caused swelling in joints, sick stomach, rash, fever. Have been on Omicef 5 days. Started having strange raised bumps for three days that come and go. Will say that two weeks ago had actual hives around eyes and think it was caused from eye cream.
Avatar m tn i have the same problem in my eyes……I've tried antihistamine eye drops but i don't know the itch keeps coming back. i also have some growth tissue around my caruncle. its pink and its extremely itchy. I've read about ocular lymphoma and its starting to freak me out. there has been some misdiagnosis about eye lymphoma…..doctors just think its allergy.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed antihistamine tablets for me for my itchy eyes and also an eye lubricant. I have also had non-alcohol based eye drops. The problem here is not knowing what is causing your itchiness. And unfortunately, sometimes a cause cannot be found. But it is a case of elimination. Hope you find some relief soon. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema.
