Avatar n tn As few drugs are known to cross the placenta and can have adverse effects in fetus. Pregnancy may be complicated by new-onset or preexistent allergic disease, including rhinitis, anaphylaxis, urticaria and angioedema, and atopic dermatitis. Pregnancy and asthma is extensively studied. Of the currently available preparations, chlorpheniramine has been recommended as the first generation antihistamine of choice for use during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn After going to an expert dermatoglist who again stated just take medicine to control the hives - I ended up on Allegra, Claritin and Doxepin. My hives seemed managable mostly at this point but in October 2009 I stopped all antihistmaines to have a food alllergy test just to see if anything turned up there. Nothing did but I noticed my hives really improved after stopping all the antihistamines. Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl.

17644146 tn?1458782868 Preservatives prevent bacterial grown or stabilize drugs. Some people are allergic to them. Without preservatives bacteria/virus can enter and grow. In eye drops when the bottle is squeeze then release it creates suction that pulls some drops from the outside back into the bottle. The new technology prevents bacteria or virus from entering the bottle. Samples of Pure drops are hard to get but many of our patients like them a lot.
Avatar f tn There are anecdotal reports in which there is an association of infants being born with a serious eye condition that could result in blindness, and cleft palate. Since these drugs are excreted in breast milk, I would discourage their use while breast feeding. Their somnolent effect would be exaggerated in an infant. By the way, when your wife is pregnant, her dermatitis may improve.
Avatar n tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema.

5464742 tn?1368519546 My sister is 24wks pregnant, i already have her 10yr old daughter i adopted due to drugs. Now at 24wks she smoked crack 1x. I'm worried that even though she won't do it again it will show up in something and she'll get a cps case where i'll adopt this child too. If she doesn't do any drugs from this point on and her system is clean should she be ok at delivery? It shouldn't b in babys system by delivery if she stays clean as she's only 24 wks now????
Avatar n tn Diphenhydramine hydrochloride (commonly sold as benedryl) is an antihistamine which makes patients drowsy, so is taken in higher doses at bedtime to make patients sleep. It is sold in 25 mg pills and as extra strength, 50 mg pills. I found a list of drug recommendations on the Janis & Friends site last year and it said that patients were allowed up to 200 mg per night while on IFN/ribivirin therapy and it's what I used for sleep throughout TX.

Avatar f tn Do not mix antihistamines though such as an oral antihistamine and spray. Ocean Spray does not have an antihistamine and will simply dry you out and is safe to use with an antihistamine.
