Avatar f tn You may be able to control histamine release and allergy/anaphylaxis with a prophylactic antihistamine medication allowing you to use Tylenol when needed.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
3791484 tn?1348234566 The first step in controlling hives is to identify the cause, if possible. If the source of the problem can be identified and avoided , try to avoid exposure to it in the future. A mild case of hives often disappears on its own after a few hours. A longer-lasting case should respond to the manufacturer's recommended dosage of an over-the-counter oral antihistamine. If your hives don't disappear in a few days, you should see a doctor.
Avatar f tn Symptoms include mild to moderate swelling and itching at the site of the injection. Antihistamine medications may help. However, a large swelling may require an adjustment of the immunotherapy dosage or a change in the frequency and amount of the shots. It is also important that anaphylaxis, which can be life threatening, is prevented. It is best that you inform and see your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
1639028 tn?1300617084 Does anyone else suffer from unidentified anaphylaxis? if you do do you struggel emotionally as well? what is it like for you? what symptoms do you get? how many reactions have you suffered from?
1613602 tn?1306199123 Shortness of breath may be caused by a variety of issues like heart or lung conditions, environmental factors, allergies, anaphylaxis, anemia, tonsillitis, anxiety, obesity, lack of exercise and even neuromuscular disorders. Before taking any medication, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation and to ensure that there are no serious condition present. If it is due to allergies, you need to avoid the triggers and take antihistamine medications.
Avatar n tn First you need to stay on antihistamine until it is gone. Benadryl is great stuff. You should see a GP or allergist doctor. You definitely had a reaction to that sting and are still having it. Sounds like the ER ruled out anaphylaxis but you did have Benadryl in you so that I'm not sure about the results. Just stay on antihistamine on schedule to prevent something worst.
9552239 tn?1404989880 Hi Eve, Thanks for your message, sorry to hear about your allergies and it must be awful to have asthma. I had severe hay fever as a child and had an allergy test as a teenager - the result was allergies to pollen, grass, dust, mould and cats. I managed all that with anti-histamines and just tried to avoid triggers as much as possible - never thought too much about it.
Avatar f tn So if she is exposed to any of these meds again, the reaction my be quick onset, like anaphylaxis. What other anitbiotics are out there for children?
552173 tn?1282603290 Usually these are a combination of some kind of antihistamine along with decongestant or pain reliever. Seeing a doctor will usually result in a prescription for antibiotics and a recommendation for rest. Therapeutic measures range from the medicinal to the traditional and may include nasal irrigation or jala neti using a warm saline solution, hot drinks including tea and chicken soup, over-the-counter decongestants and nasal sprays, and getting plenty of rest.
Avatar f tn html If you had anaphylaxis reaction before, it is always good to carry a identification bracelet or epi pen with you. There are plenty of food that have nut component or ingredient that is not usually indicated and known. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn I'm hoping someone on this forum knows a lot more than I do about this subject! For question number one, I would talk to a qualified allergist. Your pharmacist may have some answers as well. Question number 2 is still out of the scope of my "practice," but if a person who suffers from anaphylaxis is on a benzo, IMHO, the use of that med will NOT decrease the likelyhood of an anyaphylatic response.
Avatar f tn Truthfully, I do not what drugs I can take since I can have either no reaction, hives or swelling. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Any suggestions on how to deal with my allergies? I have many allergies but things have been fairly bearable until pollen season. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have a long history of IGE food allergies. The top 8 plus more. I avoided them for a couple years and added them back in with minimal issues or so I thought but I was overlooking mild ana that was slowly progressing. I used to get hives and have had to go to ER twice to get a steroid after benedryl didn't stop them, along with GI symptoms. Now what I have is anaphylaxis symptoms. My tongue and lips swell and I can see my throat close up.
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
539780 tn?1213943976 Hi, The familiar symptoms of bee and wasp stings include pain, redness, swelling, and itchiness in the area of the sting. Multiple stings can have much more severe consequences, such as anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction that occurs in hypersensitive persons. Emergency medical kits containing self-administrable epinephrine to counter anaphylactic shock are available for allergic people and should be carried by them at all times.
Avatar f tn Hi; I also had problems beginning with hives and progressing to episodes of fainting/trouble breathing/swelling/redness/stomach symptoms. An allergist diagnosed me with "idiopathic anaphylaxis" - it's where your body makes too much histamine, for some unknown reason, and you end up with an anaphalactic (sp?) attack. It doesn't sound like you necessaryily have an anaphalaxis but hives are a symptom of too much histamine also. Have this checked out.
Avatar m tn I lived in a small basement apartment while in school for almost 2 years, the basement leaked everyday nand flooded muliple times. 6mths after living there I went into Anaphylaxis for the first time after eating salmon sushi, then continued to have massive reations to practically everything I ate for the next almost year.Almost 3 years later I live off just a hand full of things I know I can eat.
