Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine cream itching skin

antihistamine

Avatar n tn I moved from a very humid climate to a dry, colder climate/higher altitude this winter. Since moving here, we both have developed rashes throughout our body. Dry skin, kind of scaly but not quite, just noticible, red patches some no bigger than a dime some larger. They itch too. I have to assume that this is due to the climate change, but wonder what would be good treatment. I have tried a combination of a good moisturizer mixed with hydrocortisone cream with no luck.
Avatar m tn i am using a oral antihistamine but my penis is still itchy.
Avatar f tn I seasonally get it then it goes away after i apply a certain tubed cream called sonaderm (its meant for candid, ezcema n stuff). the itching occurs on the genital parts that is on the outer part of my vagina, on all those soft areas/spots only. the other part of the skin remains ok but only the soft parts of my genitals is the one that itches alot. It doesnt even itch on the inside of the vulva no,only the outer part.
Avatar n tn I found that I was waking up itching the other night on my chest, I presumed it was just dry skin or heat, but the itching has got worse and worse and spread to my entire body. Scalp, neck, back chest etc - all over. Have tried Piriton & Eurax cream to no avail, doc prescribed cetrizine anti allgery tabs & calamine lotion. These have had no effect at all. This is my 2nd night up with no chance of sleep. The itching is driving me insane & I cannot sleep at all.
Avatar m tn Hi may name is Hamza and my problem is that i am having itchy anus.
Avatar n tn I use Benadryl tabs and hydrocortisone cream for the rash and itching on the body. Also a mild lotion to combat dry skin. The benadryl may help your anal itching. Also keeping sqeaky clean helps. Many of us use Huggies baby wipes every time we go. However, if you have hemorrhoids you can also use hemorrhoid cream and hemorrhoid suppositories and they do help. Keep the room temp. low. Resist scratching. Cold packs on a particularly itchy area may help. Hope that helps.
Avatar f tn s how I felt. You probably need some help like I did. Cortisone cream - over the counter and a antihistamine. That's how I felt. I was going crazy.......
368396 tn?1391945302 The most potent antihistamine, however, is probably the anti-depressant doxepin. You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. Your mother should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing. If the symptoms persist then get an evaluation done from a dermatologist as topical and oral steroids may be needed.
5045042 tn?1365890100 If you have a rash, you can use a strong prescription steroid cream. If you are itching, you can use a stronger prescription antihistamine. I had severe itching and bad rash issues. I itched all over and the rash was everywhere. Benadryl and over the counter hydrocortisone creams did absolutely nothing. My dermatologist prescribed Hydroxyzine 50 mg every 6 hours as needed. (I needed it every 6 hours for several months.
Avatar n tn I am very hygenic and I always wash myselft everyday. I have used Fucicort cream and Lamisil cream but the itching continues. I have checked myself in the mirror and dont see any warts or anything. Just the skin around is red and irritated.
Avatar m tn ve seen my General Practitioner and first time I went to him with an Eczema rash which was secondary to this itching to which he gave me bath emollients, aqueous cream and some steroid cream. Second time I went to my GP with spots on my penis and scrotum which he diagnosed as foliculitus and and gave me some antibiotics (Flucluxocillin 250g 4 a day) which i finished the course about a week ago. I've also tried Anti-histamine (Loratadine and Cetirizine).
Avatar n tn You can apply a mild steroid cream or calamine lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. You should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing. Covering the affected area with bandages and dressings can help protect the skin and prevent scratching. You should choose mild soaps without dyes or perfumes and use a mild, unscented laundry detergent when washing clothes, towels and bedding.
Avatar n tn what exactly can i use to help stop itching and rash pn my lower and upper legs? This discussion is related to Itchy legs, no sign of rash or irritation.
Avatar f tn You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. If the symptoms persist then get it evaluated from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar n tn When I start scratching it of course gets much worse. There are no signs on the skin when the itching starts. But I have been scratching so much (especially in the night) that the skin sometimes start bleeding. When scratiching a lot the skin gets red with tiny small round marks. Went to a couple of doctors who gave me different diagnoses. The last guess was chronic urtikaria. That doctor did take some tests to exclude liver/kdiney problems.I have been given antihistamines.
Avatar f tn In my experience with itching it would go away about 4 hours after taking a pill. Your itching is most likly from your skin being irritated from all the scratching before. If you have certain areas that itch more than others get some of the over the counter anti itch cream its the 1% with aloe. If you scratched very much you might has developed a mild dermetitus as your fingernails contain a lot of bacteria. Either way the cream helps me.
Avatar m tn t accompanied by other obvious skin changes, such as a rash, is most often caused by dry skin (xerosis). Dry skin usually results from environmental factors that you can wholly or partially control. These include hot or cold weather with low humidity levels, long-term use of air conditioning or central heating, and washing or bathing too much. Other conditions cause itchy skin as well.

I compared medication she was on before this itching started and what she's on currently.....not much difference, just more pain meds, asprin, and breast cancer medicine. She has a hormonial type cancer treatment,no breast/ lung removal,no chemo and no radiation treatment.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Itchiness of the whole body could be due to extreme dryness of the skin or due to jaundice. It could be due to iron deficiency anemia, liver and kidney disorders, thyroid disorders, polycythemia, diabetes and malignancies (cancer). It could also be due to certain medications and food. Others could be due to skin conditions like contact dermatitis and scabies.
Avatar n tn Did you ever figure out what it was? I've had similar symptoms for about 7 years. The doctors ran bood tests. They found nothing. They told me the same thing, change your clothes, detergent, soap, use antihistamine, cortisol cream. Nothing works. I'm frustrated. Now my girlfriend tells me she is itching vaginally.
