Avatar f tn Also, I figured out I cannot even take some pills like Pepcid for heartburn because they cause hives all over me and are very itchy hives. The hives today were not bad itchy thankfully. Truthfully, I do not what drugs I can take since I can have either no reaction, hives or swelling. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Any suggestions on how to deal with my allergies? I have many allergies but things have been fairly bearable until pollen season. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Here's one for the books. My daughter has had a allergic reaction to an oral antihistamine she took for what appeared to be hives just below the right side of her derriere. This little bout of hives were taking their time going away and so she thought by taking the antihistamine it would help the process.

Avatar n tn s website (they also have Vitex for $2.99 a bottle).Get the type of Progesterone Cream in a pump as the type in a jar deteriorates in the presence of oxygen. Use the cream (not oral tabs) that contains around 500mg per ounce. Good Luck to everyone. I have felt so sorry for so many of you because I also suffered so greatly. Don't let anyone tell you that there is not an answer or to wait it out. What I am doing may not help you, but there is an answer. God Bless.
Avatar n tn What you need to do is to stop using anything that causes an allergic reaction and to apply antihistamine cream or ointment to the affected parts. Ask your pharmacist for advice in choosing an over-the-counter preparation.
Avatar m tn I used to take antihistamine everyday for 5 years as living without them at the time was impossible. Untill one day, when i decided i will not take anymore, mainly to see how my body would react after days of being attacked by itself with no medication. Ironically, after a solid week of torture and no sleep, the itching started to slowly subside. It has since reduced to about 50% of what it was but it is still here and still making life very uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn Hello, Skin rash and itching is a common side effect of Thiamzole and this itchy skin rash that your mother is having can be due to hives as a result of the side effect of this drug. For such hives, first of all the medication needs to be changed to some other drug. Then the primary treatment is by oral antihistamines. The most potent antihistamine, however, is probably the anti-depressant doxepin. You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area.
Avatar f tn In certain patient’s there has been relation between use of certain medicines or allergies, environmental factors employed in the occurrence of hives. I think eye cream or omnicef could be the cause for developing hives in your case. I would recommend that you consult a allergist for further work up and confirmation of the cause for this. Best.

Avatar f tn One can get hives ANYWHERE. Sounds like hives to me. Have you tried any OTC medications for them? i.e. antihistamines I would recommend consulting your physician about this. You should probable be referred to an Allergist and/or Dermatologist.
Avatar f tn The mainstay of treatment of hives is antihistamine which may be necessary for prolonged periods (in excess of 6 weeks).Non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine(zyrtec) or Loratadine(Claritin) may be needed to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamines such as Chlorphenamine(benadryl) or Hydroxyzine are used at night to get urticaria control. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hello, If it is resembling welts, then it can be due to hives. Take antihistaminics like Benadryl or Zyrtec for the itching and apply some mild steroid cream on the rash. If the symptoms are worse then you may need oral steroids. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I just tried a cream two days ago called Dermarest for Eczema, it seems to help better than others I have tried. With me it will hit me on the sides of the ribs and shins, and also the scalp sometimes, for the scalp I found that the Selsun Blue shampo used twice a week helps with that area. I hope this info helps you, I know what you are going through.
Avatar n tn However her dermatologist says she has exema and the hives. Gave her protopic cream and zyrtec 5mg to take once a day. However this problem has been going on for well over a year. Now when she puts her cream on, it doesn't giver her relief, it actually has been hurting her (burning). It's so hard to get into the dermatologist when she has these outbreaks. I don't know what else to do for her.
Avatar m tn Hello, Without examination,I cannot confirm a diagnosis but the symptoms that you have described are suggestive of hives. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known.

No matter the temperature or, be it salt water or non. She had mono. when she was in her 3rd yr.

Avatar f tn Hello, Itchy rash on arms and legs can be due to many causes like dermatitis, lice, scabies and hives, eczema, lichen simplex chronicus, stasis dermatitis of legs or viral infections. You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. You should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing. Covering the affected area with bandages and dressings can help protect the skin and prevent scratching.
