Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine cream allergy

antihistamine

Avatar n tn It sounds like the antihistamine may be drying your skin or possibly you have allergy skin. You may have a food allergy contributing to your allergies. You could try eliminating common offenders, such as milk, soy, wheat, citrus, etc.
Avatar m tn I have seen a new allergy doctor recently. 48 hours ago, I went for a visit for allergy skin testing. They performed the skin ***** test on my forearms then proceeded to do intradermal skin testing. I was allergic to all intradermal tests except dogs. This is not the first time I've had skin testing done so this was what I expected. I have attempted to google delayed reactions and intradermal skin test but not results.

Avatar f tn In fact, almost anything can cause an allergy. I find that the most effective antihistamine is still Benadryl. By the way, I have never had success with anti-fungals.
Avatar n tn What you need to do is to stop using anything that causes an allergic reaction and to apply antihistamine cream or ointment to the affected parts. Ask your pharmacist for advice in choosing an over-the-counter preparation.
Avatar f tn I have exactly the same as everyone for over 10 years. It usually starts end of August or September and last until February. I tried everything but to no avail. The doctor gave me Gabapentin and I take one 2 hours before going to bed, it seems to help. Sometimes the episodes last for hours of itching. I constantly try to figure out what cause this horrible thing. Today I am thinking could it be caused by the flu shot? Because it's a seasonal thing.

Avatar n tn My child is 3 years old and since she was a baby, she would have constant breakouts in hives. The thing is, it only happens in spring and summer. We finally got her in to the Derm. and they told us that her body was making too much antihistamine and that's why she got the hives. They refused to do any allergy tests on her, and now she's starting to break out again. She is allergic to Benedryl, bactrim. bacitracin, and any dye in meds.
Avatar m tn I remember changing his food about 2 years ago to a natural choice brand from Hills brand. He has a small like stinky feet that only I can smell. Goes away with a bath. Tried many shampoos and skin treatments but no luck. After I take antihistamine I can't smell my dog for a while. So it's with out a doubt an allergy. Triggers my asthma bad too. Once he had fleas and that set off my allergies terrible. It's my allergy is from his skin I think. Won't give away, too attached.
Avatar f tn Yes I went to an allergy specialist and had the ***** test done to reveal how bad my allergy was to dust. 2 Days ago the doctor put me on 25mg of Solone for 3 days in hope the spots would stop coming out. Yesterday I returned to the doctor as they were getting worse and they sent me off for a blood test FBE and I will get the results on Monday. Hope you can help me with this.
Avatar m tn Hello, It can be due to contact dermatitis to the latex or cosmetics/ soaps used by your girlfriend, friction rub causing irritated hair follicles and folliculitis. You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. You should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing.
Avatar f tn Do not mix antihistamines though such as an oral antihistamine and spray. Ocean Spray does not have an antihistamine and will simply dry you out and is safe to use with an antihistamine.
Avatar n tn I dont know if its the fabric, but the same happens when i wear different types of pants. I dont feel it when i wear sweats though. I have no rash, and even if i wear cream, the itching doesnt stop, even though it does help control it, just a little.
Avatar f tn I stopped eating all of those things, cleaned my room, stopped touching my cat. Also, before I got a allergy test my doctor gave me a cream and it really thinned out my skin really bad and made the eczema worse...Then, she gave me a stronger steroid cream which I didn't use because those steroid creams would just make it worse and plus, my mom wanted to try this remedy since my skin was open and thinned out.
Avatar n tn s a food allergy. The doctor said it looked nothing like herpes lesions and rushed me out with a perscription for metronidazole cream. This really didn't make any sense to me since he said the infection was viral. I am wondering what sort of infectious rash I have, and if it is contagious. The doctor told me he didn't think that the rash was contagious and that I should be fine to work. I am a RN on a critical care unit, so I certainly don't want to be spreading this around.
Avatar n tn You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Avatar f tn Since then I have been itching on and off most days in random places, particularly in the middle of the night (about 4 am). When I take an antihistamine the itching goes away.Does this mean that the itching is still due to an allergic reaction (as the antihistamines work) or could there be another cause??
Avatar m tn I used Hydrocortisone Cream USP 2.5% and a All Day Allergy pill 10 mg. The pill seems to be helping as I feel better. But I can't help scratching it. It is on my arms, legs, back, upper chest, and ears. But I am still not sure if it is getting better. Please help ASAP!
