antihistamine

351404 tn?1299489130 Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?
565430 tn?1272695820 Hi rello.. it could be the antihistamine.. it gives me the jitters.. from everything I have read about those you should not take it for more then 3 weeks without a break. a lil vics would help with the sinuses.. as for sleep maybe a nice warm bath and good book with some sleepy-time tea.. Congrats on 557 days !!
666921 tn?1254990618 I agree with Patsy about asking doctor - just wanted to pass this info. on - antihistamine supressess the allergic reaction - so though I read it on another forum - it still makes sense to me to try to avoid taking it - anyway asking the doc. about any 'drugs' is always a good idea.
Avatar n tn Hello, I don't know if you ever found the answer for this but for anyone coming across this desloratadine could potentially be problematic for pregnancy. There have been animal studies showing it can be harmful to the fetus and could potentially influence the mother to be not as fit to bear the child. There haven't been any human studies done but this is warned against. Reference: https://www.drugs.com/pregnancy/desloratadine.
Avatar n tn just that it could change the electrical and the way that your heart fires off. I think that the thirty day monitor will give you the telling tale here....good luck with this...i would be interested in knowing what the doctors findings would be and their take on this.....
Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
Avatar n tn Your Vet will have the best choices for congestion relief.....You don't state how old your pug is, but the excess fluids can related to many other diseases/ailments.....For example: If you use an antihistamine thinking it's an allergy when indeed it's really a heart problem, the antihistamine can make the heart worse, so you must get a diagnoses before you treat..... Licking air is usually Nausea or acid reflux....Post nasal drip normally causes a cough...
Avatar f tn Normally for heart failure, Lasix are prescribed along with the heart meds. and can be given 1-3 times a day depending on the severity of the congestion. Once, the fluid is off her lungs, the cough and congestion will improve greatly. I'm surprised that this has not already been prescribed! Please, call or go see your Vet (Quickly) and discuss this. She will feel much better.....Good luck and keep us posted.....
1491252 tn?1297450771 t run and sports and exercising are my favorite things to do. i am a very active in school and sports and band, but my asthma used to only act up during band when i carried a bass drum around, and then i tried exercising to help controll it, but it only got worse. After i got my inhaler, i had some kinda of virus, i believe it was called adenovirus and i was put on a Z-pack because i was weasing when i breathed out.
Avatar f tn My energy level is very low most of the times due to the elevated heart rate. I also have exercise and heat intolerance. It is hard to differentiate some of the other symptoms because I also have a brain malformation, Chiari 1 Malformation, which causes many symptoms as well. I also have headaches, neck/should pain, double vision, stomach issues diagnosed as IBS which I think are related to both POTS and Chiari, low back pain, join pain/popping, and more I am sure I am forgetting.
Avatar f tn - Tiredness and Fatigue. These symptoms were noticeable in the first week and within the last week when the heart beat changes occurred. - Anal Itching and Pain. These symptoms have almost disappeared without use of steroids, although I'm not recommending that course - see your doctor if you have these symptoms. - Nausea. Nausea diminished after two weeks with occassional recurrences.
1399363 tn?1462342610 I would check with your physician, and pharmacist because I think there now may be compounds available with give the desired effect without the side effects. You could also address the tachycardia issue and eliminate that which would allow you to take any antihistamines with experiencing the side effects.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure about the active ingredients in Tylenol PM, but I know that cold medicines, in particular, can aggravate PVCs. You might want to check with your local pharmacist. Has anyone else noticed that Tylenol PM stirs up their ectopics?
280234 tn?1532986249 Anyone ever take Vistaril for marked anxiety? I get anxious occasionally, and have tried all of the SSRIs. I can't take them. They make me gain weight & feel like I'm in a bad fog. I suffer from high BP & tachycardia, which I'm on medicine for, and when I get anxious my heart rate and BP go up, and I feel terrible.
Avatar n tn So I would say ask your doctor if your meds would not interact right with your current meds. I have copd moterately severe and use benedryl for sleep, and am benefited by the antihistamine as well. Good luck to you! I hope this helped.
Avatar m tn I did the same thing after taking an antihistamine and got all upset and mine went up to 120. As soon as I forced myself to relax and quit checking it slowly went back to normal.
648910 tn?1290663083 I think meclizine makes you sleepy enough that you can't see the room spinning very well, thus minimizing the sensation that the stomach is stationary while the rest of one's world rotates. Seriously, it was the first thing they tried for me --- aaarggghhh!!! -- 20 months ago!!! No effect at all, except sleepiness. Next thing they tried was Xanax -- maybe the (substitute on-call) doc was thinking of Valium, but got mixed up? Same effect.
Avatar n tn I used to have symptoms like blood shot eyes, and pain in the eye in the morning. The cure I found was to buy a really good humidifier for my room and treat my eyes with eye drops whenever they start to feel dry. The problem has gone away, and I am convinced, that at least for myself, that was the problem. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn try clariton oral, nasal crom and allaway(eyes) or just try the clariton and alaway first and if needed add the nasalceom. I have severe allergies to cats and dogs, pollen etc. and it works for me.
Avatar n tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. Wear lose comfortable clothes, apply vaseline lotion. Let us know if you need any further information. It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for the symptoms and a proper clinical examination. Let us know if you need any other information and post us on how you are doing. Regards.
