Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine and joint pain

antihistamine

Avatar m tn I just went for testing yesterday for Allergy testing and a few hours later i began having horrible joint pain. Never experienced anything like it and still in horrible pain. I too researched it and saw nothing on line. I’m reporting it to the allergist and CDC.
Avatar f tn I was starting to feel better and then took an antihistamine and I started all over with the pain. Maybe I should just let my body heal before trying to put additional stuff in it. I'm hoping it will go away completely. In the meantime I take aspirin at night and it's helping. I'm sipping away at a mixture of fresh parsley and garlic in chicken broth. Not the best taste, but surprisingly it is really helping me feel better.
Avatar n tn Yes thyroid problems can cause muscle, and joint pain along with the headache and weight gain. The first time when I responded to your comment I didn't know about the weight gain issues because you didn't mention them. Hopefully after you begin treatment for your thyroid, you will feel better soon.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar m tn Aside from Lymes disease, it could be Lupus. Both present with joint pain and a rash. Fifth disease also presents with joint pain and a rash. So there you have at least three leads. Now you need to be diagnosed. I believe a rheumatologist would be your best "bet". A "rheumy" would be familiar with all three diseases as they all cause join pain. Wishing you the best...
1679858 tn?1346765181 Hi.....I try and take an antihistamine with helps with ne inflammation....and if I still have a HA I take Ibuprofen...so far this works for me. 1295629 tn?1297385870 Hello, If there is any history of tick bite, then definitely tick bite fever needs to be ruled out. Symptoms include typical rash(erythema migrans), migrating pain in muscles, joint, and tendons, severe headaches, neck stiffness, and sensitivity to light. I sincerely advise you to consult an infectious diseases specialist and get tests like Western blot and ELISA done as it is very difficult to culture borrelia bacteria. Treatment will depend on the confirmation of diagnosis.
Avatar m tn The symptoms of STDs include warts, ulcers, yellow or white vaginal/penile discharge, burning with urination, pelvic pain, bleeding between periods, testicular pain and joint pain etc. You do not seem to have any of these symptoms. These symptoms which respond to an antihistamine are probably hives. If the symptoms are severe and persistent seek the consultation of an allergist for further evaluation and management. Do keep me posted. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn It appears to happen about the first joint of the finger. The skin becomes rough, red, scaly and hard and the skin peels away, making it raw underneath. It is quite unslightly.
Avatar m tn That is probably why they said to take an antihistamine. The ears can get fluid collected in them and cause pain. It takes a few days of the antihistamine to make it go away.Do you also have a sore throat and/or fever? Any pus in the throat?
Avatar n tn why suddenly decreased appetite and also some time in left leg knee joint little pain . Feeling malaise sometime..but i did not have any painful blisters ...sometime tiny pimple kind of spot in shoulder. ..Could be sign of any STD...?
Avatar f tn Dr is looking for a labral tear. I have pain in the shoulder and clavical, neck and scapula. Do the non dye contrast material work as well?
Avatar n tn My 7 year old son, an asthmatic, just awoke with hives all around his joints. His wrists, shoulders, knees and ankles were CLEARLY swollen, and he was complianing of pain. The ONLY difference was he was JUST previously taking ZYRTEK for 5 days, an allergy medication he has seasonally taken from September through November.
Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn After a while the noises and joint pain may go away, but the joint continues to undergo damage. It just becomes quiet and the pain gets transmitted to the other parts of the head. The patient who experiences once a month headaches, along with a poppin joint, eventually becomes the twice a week headache patient with no joint noises. Vision: The trigeminal nerve is responding to a muscle and jaw joint compression by irritation of its maxillary/opthalmic division.
Avatar m tn Hello, One of the possibilities for your symptoms is fibromyalgia which is a disorder classified by the presence of chronic widespread pain and tactile allodynia(pain even on touching. There is no specific test for diagnosing fibromyalgia but your doctor can diagnose it after physical examination and ruling out other conditions. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
12498457 tn?1425603087 When the weather changes from winter to spring-like conditions, my seasonal allergies kick in full force. So, the pressure buildup and sneezing fits (6+ in rapid succession) get worse. Allergy meds only help so much leaving me miserable and hoping I don't have a massive pain episode at work. Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on how to lessen the sneezing at least? With hopes that I'll be able to function at work until the end of March?
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
507935 tn?1217359454 When I came off it, my joint pain returned and my rheumy said that was normal and was 'probably' a side effect from the withdrawl. He said it should go away a few weeks after being totally off the pred. I hope this is true for you.
Avatar f tn My throat closed. I got steroids and the hives got better. Then the joint pain kicked in. My hands and right shoulder were so painful I couldn't use/move them. The symptoms would go away and return (the joint pain not hives). My shoulder hasn't bothered me lately but my hands and fingers still hurt. Did this happen to anyone and can you offer any advice? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have joint pain in my knees and elbows, weakness in knees after kneeling down and trying to stand up. I have numbness that comes and goes in my feet. My chemo/raidiation treatments ended a year ago. Are these aches and pains caused by the after effects of the drugs and radiation? I also have trouble taking antibiotics or pain meds. I seems to get every side effect listed. Alcohol of any type bothers me also. I use to enjoy a glass of wine but no longer.

Avatar n tn Recently he started having a lot of joint pain. Now his ankles and feet are swelling. His sugar levels are doing great. We have been to the doctor and he has had several test done. Everything is coming back good. Has anyone had these same symptoms? He is taking Metformin and I am wondering if this has anything to do with this.
