antihistamine

351404 tn?1299489130 Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar m tn The CTA Chest scan shows clear lungs and the heart and pulmonary vasculature is normal. My question to you is: What else can be the problem? Please, I will appreaciate your professional advise or analysis.
Avatar n tn the only thought that i would have is that since you were on them for so long that your heart recoginized the fact that it had to adapt to the way it had changed while it was on the meds and then possibly when you stopped taking them your heart reverted back to what was the norm for you. I wouldn't think that what you were on would mask any symtoms...just that it could change the electrical and the way that your heart fires off.
Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.

Avatar f tn His internal organs have all come forward and are pushing on his lungs and heart. He is otherwise healthy, runs, jumps eats drinks and eliminates. I am just nervous about the prednisone. Thanks for any advice you might have.
Avatar m tn Stage of Research EAE mice treated daily with anti-histamine receptor 1 have decreased disease severity and delayed onset of the disease compared to controls. Also, treatment with antihistamine receptor 1 leads to significant changes in the serum IgG recognition of some healthy brain antigenic targets. Advantage Safe - antihistamines are established drugs with less severe side effects than current MS treatments e.g.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
Avatar f tn Behold, she says it could absolutely be related to solumedrol and gave me Rx strrength antihistamine for night and OTC antihistamine for day (got to stay awake at work). She also said, and this is the part I don't like, if this approach doesn't work, she may have to put me on oral prednisone and back the steroids out of my system.
Avatar f tn The structure of the heart and that includes wall dimensions, chamber size, valves, valve compliance, and heart functionality is evaluated and measured by ultra sound referred to as echocardiogram. A doppler test can be part of the echo examination and it color codes the blood flow through the heart and any backflow is easily identified (regurgitation). The heart functionality is determined by the percentage of blood pumped with each heartbeat and referred to ejection fraction (EF).
Avatar m tn I am going to undergo a Heart Cath tomorrow and possible stenting to try to increase blood flow to my heart. Hope it is not more than a proverbial 'crap shoot'. This discussion is related to Low EF and MR.
369861 tn?1306275686 I'm a newbie here on the heart disease site and not very sure what is going on. This all started with my getting sick and going to the ER thinking that I am having a heart attack. It turned out that my potassium was very low and my glucose level was low. Prior to this ER episode, my potassium level was hovering around 3.3 for about 4 months. At the ER it was 2.6! I had been on HCT 25 mgand Diovan Hct 320/25 mg for about 2-3 years. My primary doctor took me off the HCT.
Avatar f tn There may be a different perspective for analysis of Marfin disease or a bicuspid aorta valve. These conditions are a tissue disorder and are more vulnerable and there should be no heavy lifting and absolute control of blood pressure. Thanks for your question and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond. Take care, and I wish you well going forward.
Avatar m tn If the angioplasty was successful your doctor will tell you to resume your normal eating habits and activities. obviously a heart health diet is recommended as well as appropriate exercise.
