antibiotics while nursing baby

Is it harmful to the baby if im taking antibiotics for bronchitis? And I am only about 1 month .

Hi there! I am pretty sure that I'm pregnant, but it hasn't been confirmed by a doctor yet. I'm nursing my 6 month old and I'm not ready to stop that yet. Has anyone nursed a baby while pregnant?

As long as you and baby are happy, and you have no medical issues preventing it,there is no reason to stop nursing even after baby comes. A few nursing support groups to help with tandem nursing I found are the La Leche League (LLL) and breastfeeding mom talk.

yeah I know Medela makes one and while baby will still be getting some of your breastmilk it should be mostly the stuff in the storage bag...you can search for them they're called lactation aids. you can also completely block your nipple so baby only gets the supplemented breastmilk...I saw an article on that but I don't remember what they suggested to block the nipple because obviously that gets tricky....

I was just curious if anyone is or has tried to concieve while nursing. My DS is almost 6 months old and I have had AF twice since birth, but it is irregular (which is normal for me b/c AF was irregular prior to concieving baby number 1). I was just wondering if there are any tips besides the normal stuff for TTC - like any special considerations, is it harder/easier, etc. thanks!

As being sick or having a fever etc. Can also harm your growing baby.

However, unless you want to be BFing 2 babies at once, I would try to make sure your baby is weaned before the next one is born. Some people do tandem nursing, but not my thing. Nursing one is enough work already...especially a newborn. Good luck!!

Okay so im scheduled to get my tooth pulled in 2 weeks, my dentist prescribed me 2 weeks worth of antibiotics to take because the medicine that they usually use to numb a patient getting a tooth pulled is not good for the baby so they supplement that for antibiotics, I just wanted to know if any other mom evr took antibiotics while preg?? I guess because I'm a FTM I'm really nervous but I just don't want nothing to hurt my baby like I just need clarify...

I am almost on my last week of pregnancy and I may have a yeast infection, would taking monistat 7 now be unsafe since I'm so close to delivery? Or can my doctor prescribe me with some kind of medication?

It only came out if I squeezed. So anyway, this time around I was nursing when I got pregnant and my son just stopped about 9 weeks ago and my milk dried up within 3 days. I then noticed that just a little bit of what I thought was colostrum was just coming out and only if I would squeeze it. Anyway....I noticed today that nothing is coming out anymore. Is that normal? Will I just start producing milk once the baby is born or will the colostrum come back later in pregnancy?

I know you have to take special BC without a certain hormone cause your body is producing it while you nurse but is the pill the only option when your nursing? or are there other methods for while nursing?

Sounds like you're doing well! This won't be advice you've never heard before, but sleep when you can! Some energy will come back once you're oldest weans, but the fatigue just comes with the subsequent-pregnancy package! ;) My 11 month old is still nursing, too. It's a lot of work to make a baby AND feed one with your body! Listen to your body and rest when you feel the need to.

That depends on the baby... my oldest daughter self weaned when I was like 9 weeks pregnant, i was told that the milk changes its flavor and they usually don't like it. I'm pregnant again, let's see if my baby weans or not.

I'm curious about conceiving while still nursing. We have an almost 12 month old, and have been trying for the past three months to get pregnant again. I have had regular cycles for me (about every 35 days) since November and am curious how long it took other moms the second time. I'm concerned that I may be having cycles without ovulation, and we really want another baby soon.

Oh, and one last thing- you said you were a nursing mom - you may want to hold off on nursing your baby until you are feeling better and supplement with formula instead. If you do have an infection, I'm not sure abou tthe possibility of the bacteria (cause of the infection) passing onto your baby through the breast milk.

I just saw another post from you. Looks like Kaelynn is only 7 months old. It may be a little while before you can conceive again. My DH and I are extremely fertile but I wasn't able to conceive until my baby was 15 months old. I had only been trying for a couple of months but like I said, I could tell by my temps. My progesterone was just too low. And I don't have any progesterone problems whatsoever. Everyone is different.

As long as your baby is nursing regularly and u pump when ur away your supply can last as long as u need it to. Some moms breastfeed for 2 or more years. It always helps to read up on things that can effect ur supply.

I had my baby on the 6th of this month, he was only on oxygen and antibiotics for 2 days, babies that young do have trouble nursing BC if the baby stayed in your belly longer they wouldn't have had to learn that yet, so they have to learn outside the womb, my baby is 3 weeks told today and Is nursing great!!

Is anyone else BF while pregnant.? I'm 26w now. My daughter will be due on Feb. Idk when to stop BF my son. I wanted to wait til he makes 2 yrs on May but my baby girl will be here and idt I can BF both of them. Or is it possible?

Ur baby when inside U does not consume nutrients/food the same way when nursing. While nursing u should avoid (limit) spicy foods or it will upset they're stomach causing them to be gassy & fussy.

Antibiotics are probably the least of your concerns as far as meds go while pregnant. Ive had uti's while pregnant...antibiotics took care of it. I had a bad tooth infection and had to take IV antibiotics as well as pills. I can't just take any antibiotic. Because I'm allergic to penicillin anything related to it or derived from it. If it ends in cillin.... its a no no for me so I have had to have some pretty funky antibiotics during all 3 of my pregnancies. .
