Avatar m tn Sepsis is often because of the GBS virus. They must have given him antibiotics? Do speak to your doctor about your concerns, or find an other doctor!
Avatar f tn I did have a urine infection and inflammation on the ovaries just a few months after the op which was treated with antibiotics and I felt better for a while but the problem returned a few months later and I ended up having a swab which showed group b strep. I had antibiotics to treat that too and once again the problem returned so I had another scan which showed a functional ovarian cyst and as the scan didn't show much they put it down to adhesions.
Avatar f tn My mother is 57 has rheumatoid arthritis, lupus & diabetic for over 20 years. My mother has had 2 heart attacks with 6 stints & a stroke last October. Avatar f tn Thank you so much for quick reply. I will ask re NJ on my visit today. Your suggestions much appreciated.
Avatar f tn For some insight, sepsis is a bacterial infection in the bloodstream or body tissues, and in order to make a diagnosis of sepsis, at least two of the following must occur: a heart rate above 90 beats per minute, hyperventilation (more than 20 breaths per minute) and white blood cell count below below 4000 cells/mm. You haven't listed any symptoms so for a perspective frequently, people use the term sepsis to describe 'severe sepsis' and 'septic shock.
Avatar n tn You definitely oral antibiotics. You shouldn't prolong it because the infection could reach you kidneys which is detrimental to your health. Right now it's probably just in your bladder, but you need antibiotics. If you took the antibiotics the UTI would go away within days. I think it would be worth the money since you don't have health insurance. Just make sure you get your money's worth and ask lots of questions at your appointment and don't worry about being annoying.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you may have had Severe Sepsis(by a whole-body inflammatory state) or Septicemia which is the presence of pathogenic organisms in the blood-stream, leading to sepsis. These terms are generally used interchangeable. Simply put you may have had in infection that went into your blood stream and became systemic most likely from a post-op infection.
Avatar f tn I'm really scared that maybe I might have an infection, because I have diarrhea and all that, sometimes I begin to sweat for no reason, do feel a little hot but my aunt says that I don't have a fever. I'm really scared that maybe I have an infection or something :( and I have pains in my stomach and back. Sometimes the pain is over my right groin.. I really hope it's not appendicitis but I doubt it considering the fact that it's been like this for more than 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn did some test, urine came with bit of blood and infection. they send me home with pain killers and antibiotics. 2 weeks later same pain , another antibiotics for 7 days. today I'm having same pain but stronger. I don't know what to do , hurts a lot and nauseas are killing me.
Avatar n tn Any stool tests to check for ova or parasites? Before this started, were you taking any medications? Antibiotics? Were you traveling? Do you have any underlying medical conditions? Anything at all change that could have provoked the odor?
Avatar n tn t keep up a high fever and switches to low body temp which could be a sign of sepsis. I had pain, low grade fever, fatigue and general unwell for decades. I became unable to work and there were no answers because there never will be in mainstream medicine for latent infections. I was misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia as is common. Then pain then required opiates, but I knew i was in real trouble when it eventually felt like heart attack sx coming on. Drs whispered sepsis without action.
Avatar n tn Bedsore was so bad doctors had debridement and it went to her bone and got sepsis. Now her infection went to bone and blood she also had lungs infection, vancomycin-resistant enterococci and ecoli infection. She also got bedsore on her heels. It smells really bad from her bedsore. Her blood pressure is 100/56 or low. She cannot talk and swallow. she had a food pipe. The put urine catheter and Stool tube. All the antibiotics are resistant to the bacterial infection.
1078034 tn?1351089685 I would not wish this on anyone I had to give up breastfeeding because of the antibiotics im on. And ive been sleeping for the past three days...
Avatar f tn So they test you to see if you have it and of you do when you go into labor they give you antibiotics to treat it. Its normal and it'll just come right back after you're done with the medication but they trrat it while you give birth. I had my test done yesterday.
Avatar f tn I had a septic blood disease 5 years ago which caused spots on my lung and my brain. I was hospitalized for 32 days over the course of three months. Typically IV antibiotics would cure this within six weeks but it took 24 weeks of hardcore IV antibiotics through a PICC line. Does this make my immune system more susceptible to catching the coronavirus at this time?
Avatar n tn I have a fear of dentists so I just kept taking antibiotics and have avoided going to the drs. Last week I had a huge white puss bubble on the side of my gum. I pushed on it and it felt like it popped. Since then I have the worst chills, then sweats,I'm dizzy, nauseas,my neck hurts to where I cant turn my head,i'm weak and I have yet to sleep more then 4 hours a night. I had the tooth removed 3 days ago and I'm on antibiotics and still feel the same, sometimes worse.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I was hospitalized for 5 days with a severe staph infection and discharged 10/28 with a PICC line to receive antibiotics for another 10 days. There were suspicions of sepsis due to my symptoms upon admittance, but fortunately, the infection never spread to my bloodstream. It did however take 4 days to really respond to the antibiotics. In any case, the PICC line was removed last Monday.
Avatar f tn My 19 yr old daughter went into hospital last sunday with Urinary sepsis and she is still in the hospital. They seem to have her sepsis infection under control but her voice has become very weak and she is having problems swallowing liquids and she has some breathlessness. She had decompression surgery in Oct 2004 for chiari malformation with syringomyelia. They are now saying she may have Syringobulbia and she is booked in to have an mri on monday.
Avatar f tn She has been in the hospital ever since. They kept saying the high doses of antibiotics and pain meds were the cause. The surgeon never spent more than 2min with her when he would visit. He finally approved to have another dr see her for the nausea. She has lost 19 lbs in less than 2 weeks. This dr has already done bloodwork. She said there is a problem FINALLY and realizes it is not the meds. She mentioned pancreatitis, gall bladder and the possibility of stomach not emptying properly.
