565147 tn?1218252591 Hi, “infections of the urinary tract are the second most common type of infection in the body. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) account for about 8.3 million doctor visits each year.* Women are especially prone to UTIs for reasons that are not yet well understood. One woman in five develops a UTI during her lifetime. UTIs in men are not as common as in women but can be very serious when they do occur. Normally, urine is sterile.
Avatar f tn throat infections, sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, etc. After you take finish the antibiotics for your dental procedure, I'd recommend you boost your friendly bacteria by eating yogurt, etc. as the antibiotics will zap your good and bad bacteria and possibly leave you more vulnerable to bacterial infections later on. Also, some antibiotics make you more photosensitive and so do the tx meds, so be extra careful in the sun.
Avatar n tn The anti-biotics should take care of the infection. Hopefully they gave her something other than amoxicillin because that anti-biotic takes a while to work and get rid of infections, but it does work. If an infection is not taken care of, with anti-biotics, it can spread, which is why I mentioned the kidneys. Though because she is being treated, it should not be anything to worry about. Make sure she takes all of the anti-biotics and she should be fine.
Avatar n tn I've finished my bactrim for my urinary tract infection, so why do I still have the burning when I urinate?
Avatar n tn Urinary tract infections are a very common outcome of rough sex without enough lubrication. I'm assuming you're using some sort of risk reduction and birth control? If not, you're leaving yourself vulnerable to disease and/or pregnancy. Always urinate after any sexual activity. This clears out the urethra of any potential irritants. Cranberry juice is also helpful in keeping your urinary tract healthy. Now get yourself to a clinic for antibiotics. And get tested. Again. Dr.
Avatar f tn turns out i have UTI (urinary tract infection) . This is the 2nd time...im 14 weeks prego. Has anyone been thru this?? Twins are doing good btw...
Avatar f tn In children without urinary tract infections 17.2-18.5% have VUR, whereas in those with urinary tract infections the incidence may be as high as 70% Age Younger children are more prone to VUR because of the relative shortness of the submucosal ureters. This susceptibility decreases with age as the length of the ureters increases as the children grow. In children under the age of 1 year with a urinary tract infection, 70% will have VUR. This number decreases to 15% by the age of 12.
385161 tn?1270081218 I keep getting infections and its driving me nuts!!! I have always been a very healthy person before pregancy i never had any of these infections, most of them i'd never even heard of help!! When I was 6 weeks pregnant i got my first yeast infection....then after the monistat i still had discharge and was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis, i was given vaginal inserts again (this time prescription for bv.) so i finished that up and got another yeast infection....
Avatar n tn s urine to see if she has a urinary tract infection. If she has a bad urinary tract infection she will need antibiotics. There are plenty of reliable supplements which can provide adjunct therapy but nothing works as quickly as antibiotics, and since urinary tract infections can be painful I would treat her as soon as you can. Cranberry juice or capsules are a good supplement for the urinary tract as a preventative and adjunct therapy.
Avatar n tn There is nothing you can really do about the urinary tract infection except take the antibiotics. They may want you to take a stronger antibiotic (prescribed by your doctor) but being pregnant makes us more probable to have urinary tract infections. It doesn't become a problem unless you ignore it.
Avatar n tn The infection could be bacterial, yeast, or a combination. Usually urinary tract infections are accompanied by the symptoms of increased frequency of urination, and/or drinking, dribbling, or inappropriate urination. However, occasionally the only symptom is licking the vulvar area. It would be best to have your dog examined by a vet of course, but at least bring a fresh urine sample to your vet for urinalysis to help differentiate between a urinary tract infection and vaginal infection.
Avatar f tn I am a 21-year-old, healthy weight female who has been recovered from my eating disorders quite well for the most part. Aside from frequent urinary tract infections I have mild mitral valve prolapse, and was recently diagnosed with a low risk strain of HPV. I am not sure if any of these things would be contributing to why I may be having trouble clearing this infection yet again. I take all the medication as scheduled and always finish the entire bottle.
Avatar n tn Another important cause of recurrent urinary tract infections is a unstable urinary bladder which causes voiding symptoms like burning sensation, frequency, urgency etc. A girl with voiding symptoms is at increased risk of developing recurrent urinary tract infections because there is reflux of urine with bacteria into the bladder.
6870784 tn?1394813026 I get bad urinary tract infections time to time...pee blood....like peeing razor blades....i always have AZO on hand...over the counter to numb the urinary tract til antibiotics kick in....even have them on hand as my doc knows i know when i get one. Better to check all out...i did with a urologist as well and the cystocope was very doable. I was more worried about that and was done in no time.
Avatar f tn Recurrent respiratory infections, concurrent with recurrent urinary tract infections is a very common scenario because infection in each of these sites, lungs and urinary tract, is very common. For this reason, the occurrence of these two, together, does not mean that they are related in any way, including having a common cause.
Avatar n tn I have been to the doctor several times with urinary tract infections. I was hospitalized a year ago with kidney stones, kidney infection, urinary tract infection, and an infected gallbladder that had to be extracted. I cannot seem to get rid of the urinary tract infections as I have had treatment 7 times now within one year. I drink the pure cranberry juice as I have heard it helps fight off and prevent UTI's. Nothing seems to work.
Avatar m tn Most often it is related to urinary tract problems like kidney stones, inflammation of urinary tract, infections of the urinary tract, prostate enlargement, renal vein thrombosis, certain kidney tumors and polycystic kidney disease, blood coagulation disorders and anticoagulants. It does not seem to be related to testicular infections causing orchitis. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep us posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.
Avatar f tn Fever may accompany most infections including infection of the urinary tract. However, if fever is present a kidney ( upper urinary tract) infection needs to be ruled out. Any other associated symptoms like nausea and vomiting?
Avatar n tn There are OTC herbal/omega treatments that boast they aid greatly in preventing UTI. I would ask your vet if he has a preference for one (or if it conflicts with his present treatment). The most important thing is to let your vet know of any additional treatments you try as the two of you seem to have a "game plan" in dealing with the issue. Has anyone else had any success with a particular brand of homeopathic treatment?
1661682 tn?1313135396 Some people have urinary tract infections that keep coming back or that do not go away with treatment called chronic UTIs, if you have a chronic UTI you may need antibiotics for many months, or stronger antibiotics may be prescribed... and some UTIs are resisitant to certain antibiotics which can be tested through a urine culture...but its hard to know for sure unless you talk to your Dr and unfortunately pregnancy and UTIs can go hand in hand for some women...
