290867 tn?1333569278 The last time he got an infection the pediatrician was going to put him on some MORE antibiotics and when my co-worker went to the ENT he told her not to (because antibiotics cause too much harm and it doesn't necessarily work) well he gave his baby some allergy medicine like Claritin to dry out his ears and nose (the constant post nasal drip sometimes causes this) and he's been fine ever since.
Avatar f tn Was your wife told that she was allergic to the antibiotics or is she drug-resistant? There is a huge difference. Pseudomonas is typically a very hard bacteria to kill and becomes drug resistant when antibiotics are used very often. My daughter had pseudomonas several months ago and had to have her ear swabbed and cultured. The pseudomonas was resistant to all the drug classses but the newest cyclosporin. She has had chronic ear infections since she was a baby (she's 13).
5915949 tn?1396188227 They say its a class B which means there arent any studies whether its safe or not. 16wks and have a sinus infection and I'm wondering has anyone taken a Z-pack for antibiotics and had any complications?

Avatar f tn I was taking cephalexin for a really bad throat and ear infection I had two weeks ago.
Avatar m tn Visited the doctor the third day of the infection when I was sure it was an ear infection due to thr completely clogged ear and the presence of fluid which I could feel + the severe pain (strong pulsing). The doctor just gave me Clarithromycin 500 mg and Nurofen (painkiller) which on the first day made the situation worse because my second ear got also infected and totally clogged.
Avatar n tn Did your vet think a fungal infection might be the problem? It's hard to tell if the drops were antibiotics (for a bacterial infection) or anti-fungal drops. Since this problem is going on so long, you might ask your vet to take some material from the ear and have it tested to find out exactly what you're dealing with. Another consideration is food allergies. Talk to your vet about how to approach an elimination diet to figure out what, if any, food may be causing the problem.
Avatar m tn hi i saw my doctor a couple days ago for an ear infection my right ear...he said it was infected but said both ears has excessive ear wax..he said i should use prescribed medicine in right ear and use over the counter medicine to soften wax and next Thurday he will irrigate it....the only thing is I am flying to Cancun the very next day(friday) my left ear feels fine should I postpone the irrigation until I get back...can excessive ear wax cause my left ear to get infected.....
Avatar m tn ve had this problem for almost 30 years, is it common for ear infections to persist for this long? I still don't have an eardrum, would I be easily susceptible to another chronic ear infection if this one is cleared due to the lack of an eardrum? Thank you again for your help.
Avatar f tn I took them for an ear infection and baby is fine :)
Avatar f tn Also keep your ears dry, don't get water in them, use a hair dryer to keep your ears dry after washing. A outer ear infection can spread to the whole ear, if you get a swollen painful ear or rash on your face from your ear problem, go see your doctor , it could be a infection called celluilitis and you need antibiotics for it immediately.
1629404 tn?1299628841 third time, the presciption was NOT given long enough to cure the infection the first time.....Antibiotics have to be COMPLETED even after the dog or person feels better.....They have to be given the lenght of time prescribed! I think the infection has gotten so bad, that his ear drum has ruptured! This is not only excruciatingly painful, but is very dangerous! His hearing is at stake, now.... He needs to get back to a Vet, ASAP......An ear check & Antibiotics should not cost $300....
Avatar n tn so he gave me softner. but after 2 days my ear started to hurt ALOT. i went to the gp again and he sent me to see an ENT specialist. i didn't get to see one but i saw a doctor who said my ear canal is inflamed so he gave me antibiotics. 1697869 tn?1306766843 Have you seen your doctor about the yeast infection? There are medications that are safe to use during pregnancy for yeast infection.
Avatar f tn I was on antibiotics due to bronchitis. Thankful that I got better after being sick for 3 weeks. The doctor knows which are safe and try not to stress. I also called my obgyn and double checked the meds for a piece of mind.
Avatar f tn need to go back to the dentist ... he will be able to make sure all the tooth is out... and that your not having some kind of TMJ problem... or make sure that there is no infection.... there is alot of antibiotics that can be taken with birthcontrol and have no effect on the birth control....
Avatar f tn We have been to the dr. 2 to 3 times a week for 4 weeks now and still going strong. She had an ear infection for 2 weeks had oral, ear and injectable antibiotics and her ear drum ruptured 3 times and then she got a fungal infection. They have painted it and tried lotrim drops which are used for athletes foot. Well it cleared up for 1 day and the dr. said stop all treatments and now it is back and she has a perforated(hole) in her eardrum. I am at my wits end.
1179627 tn?1263936593 Sinusitis is usually bacterial infection and treatment is mainly with antibiotics, decongestants, nasal sprays, humidifiers, expectorants etc. Nausea is a common side effect to use of antibiotics, but subsides with further use. Culture of discharge can determine the organism causing this infection and assistance in choice of antibiotics for this. Best.
Avatar f tn Thank you both for replying to my post. I could not longer handle the pain so just decided to go to a hospital in Mexico..I have no insurance therefore saw no other way to get this looked at. I just got home, the nurse gave me two shots one in each butt cheek. The doctor told me that I have a severe ear infection that is moving on to my throat..
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
Avatar f tn Hello I am hoping someone here has similar experience. Few years ago I had bad probs w anxiety and panic attacks. Thankfully after a long road I found a good doc that got me on the working meds and I actually stopped the meds over a year ago all has been fine since. 2 days ago I was prescribed amoxicillin for an ear infection. Last 2 nights I have had trouble sleeping pounding heart etc all the symptoms I remember from my.bad anxiety days. I called back Drs office.
Avatar f tn Therefore, it is not uncommon to be on antibiotics prior to the surgery. Antibiotics are for infections only, so colds do not need to be treated with an antibiotic. Ideally you don't want her to have to be on any medications, however you can't leave an infection untreated. So, continue her antibiotic as prescribed, be sure that it is given to her appropriately (at the right time and for the right amount of days). Good luck.
Avatar f tn So I took prednisone and antibiotics. The infection cleared but the pressure never went away. So I decided to see a specialist (ENT) he removed wax from both ears and told me there was no issue. So I left feeling great. But the pressure had returned.
2095738 tn?1339825243 I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow and have had a double ear infection for over 2 weeks. I had them several times last year starting this time of year and always needed the super strength prescription with steroids. Because I'm pregnant, my doc is afraid to prescribe anything other than amoxicillin, but my ears have gotten so much worse. Has anyone been able to take anything different?
