Avatar f tn It is important to keep her ears infection free so that the ENT can do the surgery and place the tubes. Therefore, it is not uncommon to be on antibiotics prior to the surgery. Antibiotics are for infections only, so colds do not need to be treated with an antibiotic. Ideally you don't want her to have to be on any medications, however you can't leave an infection untreated.
242516 tn?1368223905 s more clear to your doctor that you do in fact have a bacterial sinusitis, your symptoms will be more moderate to severe, and can be treated with antibiotics that are more narrow-spectrum such as amoxicillin as a first choice. Later generation antibiotics that have broader coverage across more kinds of bacteria should be reserved for complicated infections. These are general guidelines, meant to be taken in the whole context of your health history by your doctor.
Avatar f tn So, call your doctor. Allergic rashes to antibiotics can start after just as yours did. The doctor can recommend antihistamines, steroids or this process of desensitizing which involves giving you small doses of the antibiotic again (weird but a strategy used). This is again common--- things like Benadryl over the counter is an antihistamine but I'd feel better if you sought the guidance of a doctor.
Avatar n tn t improve and no one is willing to try antibiotics I will find somewhere in lower 48 to go to. You know, the 2 sides of the issue as further antibiotics would not help, no such thing as chronic or post lyme or relapse, etc. versus those who believe it and try things. I get really discouraged knowing I am not well yet, my brain may be permanently damaged and I may not be able to get off meds for it, and fear that another ugly symptom, as eye, will not be kept in check.
Avatar n tn I have had severe UTI all my life and have been hospitalized twice for kidney infections. My urologist keeps trying new antibiotics to stop the infections (which I take daily) but they never work. My urologist did a test where they pump dye into my bladder and then I void in order to see if I was refluxing. The test came back to show that I was not refluxing.

Avatar n tn Not sure how helpful this may be, but for some going through chemo, IV plasma is sometimes used to boost the immune system. You would have to check with your doctors about this, but it was suggested for me (I have small fiber neuropaty - autoimmune related) to start IVIG therapy. They take anywhere from 3,000 to 10,000 different plasma donations, mix them together, sterilize it. The idea is to boost the immune system in those of us with autoimmune disorders.
Avatar f tn Usually probiotics such as culturelle or align with these meds can help your gi system get back to normal. Red stools may indicate bleeding in your GI tract so get to a doc or ER today so they can rule this out. Do not take immodium or drugs to stop the Diarrheah until you know what is wrong. If you take medicines to slow you down with Cdiff or infections it can hurt you. Try to keep up your fluid so you do not get dehydrated . Take care and hope this gets resolved soon.

Avatar f tn m not going any further with my recovery - abx can only go so far and then your immune system has to do its bit. He agreed and is switching me off all abx and onto the European herbs - teasel and a lot of others. I have always been quite a herbosceptic and put my faith in powerful stuff from the pharmacy, so I am nervous about this. Somewhere in the back of my mind I have this fear he has realised I am an incurable case and is just offering me a kind of placebo.
683143 tn?1226710155 Doesn't sound like implantation bleeding at all...I think the other posters are on the right track...sounds like some sort of infection or something...you should go get it checked out. And remember, it doesn't matter how good you are at taking your bc while you are on antibiotics, it makes the bc less effective because it can't bind right to your system therefore you are not getting a full dose of it like you should...
211043 tn?1337050701 During my last IVF I was on antibiotics, but I got a terrible infection and got a fever and had to be switched to even stronger antibiotics. I was in horrible pain, plus I was mildly hyperstimulatated, so I'm REALLY nervous about my upcoming retrieval which should be later this week. I'm trying to stay optimistic and hoping that it will go smoother, but I'm nervous. Do any of you take additional vitamins or herbs on top of your prenatal before your retrieval?

12563078 tn?1427508556 On a positive note your 7 week test is negative. If your sore throat was due to HIV your test would have been positive. Your symptoms are not HIV but a good old fashioned bacterial infection hence the antibiotics. It may even be viral (but not HIV) in which case the antibiotics will be useless anyway.
