Do you have an explanation for this?

242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
1472764 tn?1287588186 When I had pneumonia with my daughter, I was on antibiotics to clear it up and everything was fine. I was just put on amoxicillin for a dental infection. Both amoxicillin and the medication in your z-pack (I'm assuming that is what you are taking?) are both Pregnancy Category B and considered safe during pregnancy. I even specifically asked my Pharmacist and she assured me it is safe.

He would get better, then be energetic and get worse. It was suggested that he may not have pneumonia but CHF. Is there anything to do to help him. The vet doesn't seem to have any suggestions. Would a diuretic help? He's starting to not eat now.
Avatar f tn ve had it and gone without antibiotics. It took me months to get rid of. The next time I got it, I did not want to suffer for months on end for no reason so I got antibiotics immediately. Trust me, it's not worth going without the meds, so get it checked out and get well.
Avatar f tn If you continue to have a yellowish orbn greenish sputem after three days do not hesitate to bring this to the attention to your physician. Ocasionally bacterial pneumonia requires a short period of hospitalization and intravenous antibiotics. Drink plenty of liquids, walk around a bit, and take 1000mg of vitamin C every day. Don't worry too much. If, during the night the difficulty in breathing gets worse, don't hesitate to call 911.

994239 tn?1321203620 I was diagnosed with Pneumonia, following flu last week. I have no health problems prior. I am wondering what it might mean, that I have absolutley no cough or congestion. I can feel pain pretty bad especially when I breathe in. I have had high fevers, chills, and all but NO cough and NO phlegm whatsoever. The Pneumonia was diagnosed on a chest xray. Does it mean anything if I simply do not cough and have no desire to? Doesn't that infection have to come out somehow?

Avatar f tn I’ve been diagnosed with lobar pneumonia and was put on antibiotics. It’s been two days (5 doses of antibiotics, so far) and nothing has changed! There is still no congestion, no coughing (I’ve even had 5 doses of Musinex)...just fatigue and shortness of breath. The pain is on and off....I feel crazy!!! HELP?!? (No, I’ve not been sick...my Mom was treated for the flu, but I only had contact with her after she had begun her medication...
Avatar f tn It sounds like your doctor has done his best to cure your illness but the infection has not responded to the antibiotics and you are no better. I believe it might be a good time for you to see another doctor for a second opinion. An ordinary cold should have cleared by now so it is likely that this is a more serious problem; one that may require yet another antibiotic.
Avatar n tn I have been a very "sickly" person the last 20 years or so. Constant bouts of pneumonia and bronchitis as well as mystery hives and infections on even the smallest paper cut. I have a great number of environmental allergies and have learned that I am allergic to Keflex and sulfa drugs/antibiotics.

550796 tn?1214942591 He had a dose last night and once this morning. The emergency vet told me that the only cure for this is time and antibiotics. He's got the antibiotics, but I'm wondering about the time. How long does it take to heal from this? He is lethargic and still wheezes. His gums and tongue are pink and he is eating a little. I guess I'm posting because I want to know if there is anything I can do to speed up the healing. Will a humidifier help?
