My lung Doctor called me in some augmentin because I have been coughing up thick yellow mucus. I just don't know if I can take it on treatment. Does anyone know??

She has put me on a two week course of Augmentin. I was curious that if I did have Lyme would this antibiotic help? Also, does everyone Herx when they start treatment on antibiotics? I'm not even sure if this type of antibiotic would even have an effect on Lyme (if that is what I have). Just curious.

I continued to take the birth control while i took the antibiotics, which i know antibiotics lowers the effectiveness of the BC but will a few days after you stop taking the antibiotics the birth control be effective? or how long?

was aware I had the seizure problem and prescribed cipro, which I had to call and tell them to send me something different. The one at the pharmacy now is Augmentin. Just need a neurologist`s expert opinion as to whether or not it is alright to take Augmentin with my myoclonic seizure condition. Do not want to start up any seizures. This was my second pregnancy. I have since developed a bacterial infection vaginally. My doc prescribed Metronidazole for that, and two days later I had a horrible fever and chills all night long (which I thought was a side effect of the Metronidazole) and my right breast was horribly red and really sore! odds are this is a fungal infection. taking antibiotics only makes it worse. augmentin is well known to make fungal infections worse even. self treating is never a good idea and your testing was done too early too for std's.

I just wanted to know if this was good enough...I am halfway through with my antibiotics and would have finished a month of Doxycycline twice a day (100mg) and will take another ELISHA TEST then WESTERN BLOT test after the month is up. does this sound good enough for the antibiotics to work? any suggestions?

Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?

4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness. Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.

I always used the humidifier and rubbed my chest in really well with vicks rub. We can use that. Green tea with some honey, and breath in all the steam. That's all I've got. I’ll suggest using a combination of amoxicillin-clavulanate (Augmentin) instead of keflex. Augmentin has been shown to be really effective in patients who are resistant to several antibiotics. Hence, trying it may help. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
