250701 tn?1320974765 My lung Doctor called me in some augmentin because I have been coughing up thick yellow mucus. I just don't know if I can take it on treatment. Does anyone know??
237053 tn?1258828426 She has put me on a two week course of Augmentin. I was curious that if I did have Lyme would this antibiotic help? Also, does everyone Herx when they start treatment on antibiotics? I'm not even sure if this type of antibiotic would even have an effect on Lyme (if that is what I have). Just curious.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have a sinus infection and the doctor has prescribed me Augmentin. I hate taking medication when I'm pregnant but I need to get better :( I am only 8 weeks. Has anyone else taken antibiotics in their first trimester?

Avatar f tn I continued to take the birth control while i took the antibiotics, which i know antibiotics lowers the effectiveness of the BC but will a few days after you stop taking the antibiotics the birth control be effective? or how long?
Avatar f tn was aware I had the seizure problem and prescribed cipro, which I had to call and tell them to send me something different. The one at the pharmacy now is Augmentin. Just need a neurologist`s expert opinion as to whether or not it is alright to take Augmentin with my myoclonic seizure condition. Do not want to start up any seizures. However, this UTI is hurting so badly!!! If It is too risky then I can`t take it!!!! Please help me.
Avatar f tn This was my second pregnancy. I have since developed a bacterial infection vaginally. My doc prescribed Metronidazole for that, and two days later I had a horrible fever and chills all night long (which I thought was a side effect of the Metronidazole) and my right breast was horribly red and really sore! I also had a cramp in the right side ovary. I went back to the doc, for the ovary pain (thinking the breast thing would resolve itself I stupidly didn't mention it to him).
Avatar f tn and asked if I had any pain or burning. I did not. She said that I prob had UTI and prescribed Augmentin for 10 Days. I received the lab report Thurs. and was concerned about results. I called my dr and she was quite angry with me. She said I talked to you about this yesterday ,now just take your antibiotics. I felt that she did not answer any question I had. My questions were I feel the antibiotic makes my heart race and could it make my thyroid feel painful?
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!
Avatar f tn I am on Yasmin, the 28 days one. I just finished my course of antibiotics [Augmentin] - took the last pill this morning. I also took the last of my active yasmin pills in the pack last night. I will drink my first inactive pill tonight, BUT today I had unprotected sex. What should I do? I just bought Norlevo emergency contraception (single intake 2 tablets). But if I take it, I won't be able to see if my period does come.
Avatar n tn The organisms become encapsulated in biofilms and antibiotics will not touch them. Long terms of antibiotics are often prescribed...far longer than the normal ten days. And if bacterial in nature they may be resistant to a broad spectrum antibiotic. In general the drill is multiple flushing of the sinus passageway with normal saline several times a day, right and left nostril. It is best to consult a specialist when you have a long-standing sinus infection.
360318 tn?1340393363 If diverticulitis was the diagnosis, while the choice of antibiotics may vary; aside antibiotics bowel rest such as keeping to IV fluids for a few days to be followed by a soft diet is typically advised. I would suggest discussing the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with your treating gastroenterologist. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar m tn odds are this is a fungal infection. taking antibiotics only makes it worse. augmentin is well known to make fungal infections worse even. self treating is never a good idea and your testing was done too early too for std's.
Avatar f tn I just wanted to know if this was good enough...I am halfway through with my antibiotics and would have finished a month of Doxycycline twice a day (100mg) and will take another ELISHA TEST then WESTERN BLOT test after the month is up. does this sound good enough for the antibiotics to work? any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
Avatar f tn Call your Dr but do not discontinue your antibiotics until you speak with them. Most antibiotics are safe to take during pregnancy and its important that you clear up whatever infection you had.
Avatar f tn 4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness. Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
1901977 tn?1333991726 I always used the humidifier and rubbed my chest in really well with vicks rub. We can use that. Green tea with some honey, and breath in all the steam. That's all I've got. Wish I could offer some magic cure. If you end up with a fever, even low grade, call right away. I was very sick with a flu like illness at 6 weeks and I had an ear infection that wasn't going away. I was on augmentin for 10 days.
Avatar f tn I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.

I also bought a clear blue pregnancy test, when should I take the test?
640719 tn?1277140030 I’ll suggest using a combination of amoxicillin-clavulanate (Augmentin) instead of keflex. Augmentin has been shown to be really effective in patients who are resistant to several antibiotics. Hence, trying it may help. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
