Common Questions and Answers about Antibiotics mrsa virus

antibiotics

Avatar f tn s what I know about MRSA and Hep C...First of all, many people who are treated for systemic MRSA (when it gets in your blood) have horrible after effects from the very very strong antibiotics. The antibiotics can cause hepatitis (non c) and kidney damage all by themselves in healthy people.
Avatar f tn The infection can travel through the blood and infect the vital organs such as the heart and lungs. MRSA pneumonia is a serious complication of this virus which infects the lungs. The best thing you can do is catch the infection before it gets into the bloodstream. This means looking for skin infections before they become abscessed. Check the vaginal area for strange bumps and if you find any, see your regular doctor and/or your gynecologist immediately.
577106 tn?1219839345 t know if this is were I should be posting this question, but there are no forums for MRSA or staph so I took a chance. If I need to be in another forum please let me know and I will look there. On to my question..so is MRSA curable? If the bacteria shows sensitivity to an antibiotic is the antibiotic more likely to kill the germ? My problem is I have read on the internet and been told two different things, yes it can and no it can't. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn They have developed other antibiotics to treat it. However, they are stronger antibiotics and can be harder to take. Staph in general (MRSA or not) causes boils, impetigo, furuncles and mostly other skin and wound problems. Sometimes eye infections and other issues. Sometimes with impetigo you can get a mixture of staph and strep in the wound and you get a crusty sore which is easily spread. It also can produce blisters at first then become crusty. What does your infection look like?
Avatar m tn Ok. I have been on and off antibiotics for mrsa for the last 2 months. Mostly Bactrim. Problem is the mrsa keeps returning. I have had 2 negative nare and armpit swaps. But they say it's still mrsa and the infection keeps coming back. Anyways. I continue decolonization and abx treatment. But I started to notice my stools getting loose. Then today I went to have the runs and all that came out was a little mucous and blood. Blood was bright red. No stool. Worried about c diff.
Avatar n tn Whic after internet research I found out these particular antibiotics are inaffective against MRSA. As was the antibiotic ointment prescribed for my eye.
Avatar f tn I just found out I have mrsa in my right forearm by my elbow. I went to the ER three days ago and they got all of the puss out and gave me an antibiotic that I have to take for ten days. I do know that not all antibiotics will work. My question is, I am scheduled to have an abortion November 10th, can I still do it?
Avatar f tn MRSA doesn't go away with antibiotics, once you have it you will always have it. your initial wound will heal but the virus will remain in your system. It "colonizes" which means it lays dormant, but you can still spread it.
Avatar f tn Hello Doctor, I have had a recurring infection for a year and a half on my finger. It was MRSA at one point. I've had antibiotics numerous times. I finally connected the dots, and having a HSV-2 blood test come back positive, I had my finger tested, and yes, herpetic whitlow. I suspect that I got it from manually stimulating a woman once with a very small cut on my finger. The timing is right. I can't be sure.
Avatar m tn i have gone to hospital and they tell me that i have mrsa i have drank the antibotics requested and it is noty working can you please tell me what to do
Avatar m tn Also found out she had MRSA also then I got it. Went too the Gas. specialist doctor. She told me MRSA goes away with in a year. I do not know if this is true. I have not had any major infections or break outs. Keep my skin pretty clean and cuts covered. The doctor said i look like I healed up pretty good. But with the hep c will the MSRA be in the way preventing me from taking the medication for hep c? My viral overload count is low. Just have to do the biopsy.
Avatar n tn Awesome thank you so much. Say this was the first outbreak does that mean I can auto-inoculate myself?
Avatar f tn all this went away for about a month. now it is back. im worried the mrsa is active again. does she need more antibiotics. i know mrsa is resistant to most antibiotics, but shouldnt you try them to see if they will work?
Avatar f tn We are at the end of our rope. My 17 year old daughter has been getting MRSA for about 3 years. We have tried everything we know to do. She is allergic to sulfur drugs so those are not an option for her. She gets abscesses at least once every 1.5 to 2 weeks sometimes more. We were at our local Childrens hospital last night to have a very large one drained. She was on Zyvox during Thanksgiving and we were free of abscesses for 3 weeks. That is the longest she has gone without having one.
Avatar m tn I then have been on 2 antibiotics since and the infection is in decline. Seems the greatest effect on this MRSA/or similar infection is the Chamomile Oil. Could this be a possible help in the fight against this tricky infection??
Avatar n tn You need to see your doctor again. there are much better choices of antibiotics for you for mrsa. Also if it won't clear up with oral antibiotics, you might need different treatment. Do you have a regular partner? If so have they been tested for herpes? If you don't have a regular partner, how long after the last time you had sex did you have the blood test done?
Avatar f tn My little brother has Mrsa and supposedly that's really contagious and now I'm freaking out that I might have it... he's on antibiotics but still.... is it bad to be around someone with it ..
Avatar n tn My girlfriend has developed a MRSA infection (on her arm). She is being treated with IV antibiotics. Should i stay away from sex with her; from all contact with her?
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
Avatar f tn There are a couple of antibiotics that are new that are for resistant strains of MRSA. The problem is some of these antibiotics can ruin your hearing and kidneys. So, the doctor may be trying to save these. If all else failed then they would give it to you (if it became totally life threatening or got into your blood). But you can let me know what antibiotics they have used and I can take a look. So, it does sound like you have been very diligent in handling the Staph.
Avatar f tn In the past I have had strange reactions to medications and infections including skin peeling off of my hands and feet from antibiotics and or MRSA. Within the past 2 months I began taking 500MG Valtrex daily for prophylaxis. This is now the second time within the time span that the skin on my labia and inside my vagina has become very irritated and itchy, then peeled off. My gyno was only able to see irritation as the peeling was intermittent.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with mrsa in my sweat glands. The first outbreak was under my right arm and I was treated with antibiotics. It appeared to have gone away. Now, about a month later, it is back and now in both arm pits. My family doctor has placed me on antibiotics again. This is extremely painful and it makes it worse because my bullet proof vest rubs the very large boils. Would it be beneficial to ask to have my sweat glands removed? What type doctor best treats this type of infection?
Avatar m tn Please help to find the cause. Maybe it's some virus related or some rare bacteria which is not being cultured? Like h pylori, etc.? It lasts more that two moths already. - no STDs found from swab test - urethral fluid shows inflammation - cultured few times which showed some random bacteria (first time enterococcus faecalis, second time staphylococcus mrsa) with minor growth. I assume it needs confirmation before taking any treatment.
Avatar f tn Just quit working there a month ago because of this... I have had mrsa for a while now been on antibiotics for 2 months now doxycicline.
Avatar f tn leave holes. Cellulitis occurs quite frequently and it starts with chills and fever and headache. He keeps antibiotics on hand and takes lasix to reduce fluids and his pain meds and it usually goes away in a few days. I fear contacting MRSA more than Hep C just residing in the same house. He was a nurse and is much aware of and careful not to let anyone come in contact with his blood or fluids. We have no physical contact. Should I be more concerned about my contacting MRSA?
