1399033 tn?1449587779 Does anyone know where you can get a list of infections you can get while pregnant. I had it bookmarked but somehow lost it. I like to keep up with things changing and want to always make sure I don't need to call my doctor. I'm one of those - OMG WHAT IS THAT- kinda people lol :) I'm asking because I've noticed that my discharge is changing... AGAIN. I know that the increase is normal during pregnancy and the further along you are. I'm 35 weeks now.

Avatar f tn In 15 months I've had 10 episodes of acute bronchitis, often accompanied by sinus and/or ear infection. It usually starts with cold symptoms, post nasal drip, unproductive cough leading to wheezing, coughing until I vomit and a trip to the doctor's for antibiotics. The last few episodes progressed from scratchy throat to full blown ear/sinus infection and bronchitis in 3 days. The usual treatment plan is antibiotics, inhaler (with steroids), nasal spray (like Nasonex).
Avatar n tn if it is due to taking antibiotics, try eating plain yogurt while taking the antibiotics...this will prevent a yeast infection from even begining.
Avatar f tn Over the counter treatments are safe for a yeast infection but a bacterial infection needs antibiotics. If you have a bacterial infection and get put on antibiotics make sure you up your yogurt intake so the meds don't give you a yeast infection.
Avatar f tn yes you have to go to the doctor, they will do a pelvic exam and take some swabs and if the test comes back positive for BV they will give you antibiotics, if it's yeast they will usually give you one pill called diflucan or some creams.
Avatar f tn I'm 36 weeks pregnant. I gotten alot of yeast infections during my pregnancy. probably around 4 , Ive just got treated for one but I believe I got another again.
Avatar f tn I go to a prenatal clinic and after the herpes test was negative she said its some kind of skin infection not really saying anything else just giving me antibiotics to take for ten days and said we will see from there. Could anyone help me or give me anything on what they have experience.
Avatar f tn You will get a course of antibiotics, vaginal, I've had it a few times both of my pregnancies, annoying but nothing to worry about!
Avatar f tn If you have been on antibiotics that would do it. The antibiotics kill all bacteria (even the good ones) and that is why we are more likely to get a yeast infection after being on antibiotics. My suggestion would be if you ever are on antibiotics or just want to prevent the yeast infection, make sure you buy Danactive and drink one a day- that will keep your "good" bacteria up and this will help prevent further yeast infections...
237053 tn?1258828426 Thank you for this list I think I was ticking most of them off, we dont always get a comprehensive list I seem to be having a lot os the symptoms at the moment really need to get those antibiotics to feel better.I ahve found an Austalian Naturopath who specialises in it, but I am going to google and put association one in also.
548780 tn?1233769602 Gyn says my ph is off due to the onset of menopause. ~49~ Took antibiotics for 1st. infection. 1 month later took antibiotics for another but different infection and had a BAD side effects from that antibiotic. Avatar f tn I then went back to him as he had requested and told him i was still in a severe amount of pain, he then tried to give me more antibiotics the metronidazole, which i refused and told him i just wanted the tooth removed as its caused me alot of problems.
Avatar f tn Which antibiotics are used depends on what infections you have, and there is a long list of different infections you might might that came from the 'Lyme' ticks. If you self-medicate, it may cause your blood tests to come out oddly -- your doc needs a clear reading of what infections you have, so that you can be treated with the right meds at the right dose for specific infection(s).
Avatar n tn I've been on antibiotics almost staright for 3 and1/2 years. As soon as I'm off antibiotics for 2 weeks a bladder infection comes right back! I've suffered on and off for the last 10 years. 19 years ago I had kidney stones when I was pregnant. I've had scopes done and ct scans and everything shows normal. I had a cyst removed from my left ovarian 7 years ago and I had endometriosis removed off of the outside of my bladder 6 months ago!
Avatar f tn Hi I looked this up, it used to be called Macrobid. It is just for bladder infections so that is good. If your doctor knows about your liver, I think this would be safe. I am not a doctor but I also have compensated cirrhosis and always worry about antibiotics. I learned that penicillin or penicillin family is the safest. In your case, it sounds like it is worth it to use it. Good luck!
587946 tn?1240925653 The second question is------ are these frequent recurrent infections (infection that resolves on antibiotics then you get reinfected again frequently), or a persistent infection (one that never went away but gets suppressed on antibiotics, then returns off treatment)? Persistent infections are usually the same bacteria everytime, and means that there is a structural problem like a stone, blockage or other problem causing the infection to persist.
Avatar f tn It is on the safe list from my obgyn. I also researched it. Its fine in pregnancy. I'm just worried about a severe reaction that will cause bigger problems for me and my baby - throat swelling, etc.things that are highly unlikely. That's why my husband is irritated.
2109721 tn?1334131890 If it is an infection then the best thing to do is see your GP/doctor/nurse to prescribe you with antibiotics. This will kill the infection and ensure it will not come back. I will advise you to do the full course of the antibiotics, not just stop halfway through, even if she is feeling better. Taking the full course will ensure that the WHOLE infection is killed and will not be encouraged to come back.
Avatar n tn If the organisms is already resistant to broad spectrum drugs, there are some available antibiotics that still may be used. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn My recollection of the information I read when my husband was going through the evaluation process for his transplant is that you will need to be sober 6 months before they will even put you on the transplant list. Once on the list, if you start drinking again you will be removed from the list and a new waiting period will begin again to ensure your sobriety. So it is very important that you not drink - not even a beer. Ask your doctor if he is a hepatologist or gastroenterologist.
Avatar f tn You should also know that guidelines do not call for antibiotics to treat ear infections unless they are very severe and persistent -- they go away on their own, as do sinus infections, and because of the tremendous overuse of antibiotics it is not recommended they be used for this disease, again, unless it's quite severe.
Avatar n tn I just developed a staph infections it's all over my body and it just looks like I have a bunch of pimple and bites every where. I got medication for it but I was wondering how long it takes while on the medication for the symptoms to start getting better? And also how contagious is it? Like is it alright to go to work and out places and what should I do to try and not spread it to other people?
