Why is it that taking oral antibiotics (leviquin, biaxin and now Z pack) seem to give me spells of palpitations--rapid/pounding heart beat? This is listed as a side effect, but I'd like to know if there's a chemical explanation. I am a 49 year-old female runner w/ normal resting hr of about 50-55. I have a history of PAC's and PVC's but nothing serious.

I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia two weeks ago. I was given Z Pack. I took it. It seemed to work for a couple of days then the symptoms returned. Doctor gave me another Z Pack. Same thing. It worked for a couple of days and then the mychoplasma returned.
Question 1: Why did Z pack not get rid of it?
Question 2: I'm on Doxycycline now. Will that get rid of it?
I'm terrified to even get out of bed for fear that I will relapse again. I want my life back. Please help.

Around November 7th, I developed what I assumed to be a run of the mill sinus infection. I had a lot going on with an ill family member, and didn't do my usual home treatment. It stuck around until around Thanksgiving. During that time, I was on a 7-day course of penicillin (root canal) and went through a bought of some stomach bug. The penicillin didn't do anything to help my sinus symptoms.
The symptoms of the sinus infection are gone, but there are a few annoyances still lingering.
Well they think i have it and gave me the pills incase. I get results next week. And yes same partner. I took her to the clinic to get tested and they ruled out BV even thought her family doctor assumed it was that. They insist that she has chlamydia and she gave it to me. They gave her a Z pack as well. Im just worried because i took my z pack on tuesday and im still having discharge.
I began a round of the z-pack early this week for a bacterial infection (I have been sick for a month now; the dr. thinks it started as a cold and then I picked up a secondary infection), and just finished it up yesterday. I had started to feel better on the 3rd day of taking the antibiotics, but then yesterday on the day of the last dosage and even more so today (the 1st day off) I feel terrible again, with a lot of mucous, coughing, sinus issues. I have read that the risk of contracting an STD is low and that I should get tested, but is there anything that can be gained medically by taking a z-pack to try and prevent an STD from taking hold in my system? I expect you will tell me to wait to see a doctor first, but can the z-pack be used to keep an STD from developing before symptoms are noticed?
I am 34 weeks pregnant and am very concerned about all these antibiotics (about 4) i took during my pregnancy, 3 were zithromycin z pack and one was metronidazole for bacterial vaginosis in my third trimester. For all these antibiotics, i received strong reassurance that they are safe to take to treat my common occuring respiratory infections. I am concerned. Is there anyone here who took many antbx during pregnancy and had a healthy child? AMEN...
zithromycin (z-pack) I DON'T think is known to affect birth control but I'm not 100% on it. I know it has a warning on the indications but all birth controls do...but I've always heard that it was the cillins you had to worry about.
Mirena does have the hormones so there may be a slim possibility that it affected it, but have you tested? if you got pregnant during the time you took the antibiotics it would def.
Was prescribed a Z Pack taken in the 500mg first day followed by one 250 a day for respritory issue. NO change in penial symptoms. Along Ive had diarhhea for four months since this began. Never any discharge except a miniscule amount of clear one time. After a while the penile symptoms subcided. Went to doctor for the urine and diarrhea. He ran stool and urine sample which were ok. My question:
1 is are these typical urethritis symptoms?
Things seemed to be better until last night, 8/4, when I noticed evidence of a small amount of dried discharge in my black briefs. I only have one pill left in the Z-Pack arsenal (to be taken tomorrow morning) and experienced some pain about an hour ago after visiting the men's room. What the heck?!?!
They put me on a z pack and told me to take Claritin D. I am now three day into the z pack and I can now no longer hear water running when I wash my hands or brush my teeth. I am still running a slight fever and my head feels like it's going to explode. Inside my head it sounds like an endless rain storm. I am going crazy.....what else could this be??
It was most likely a Z pack, not a c pack :)

I see a lot of people asking about z pack curing chlamydia/gonorrhea and the common response is “It has to be 1g at once to work.” I’m confused by this. 1 g is 1,500mg. The typical z pack is 1,500mg total over the course of 5 days. 500mg on day one and then 250mg the next four days. So my question is, why would it HAVE to be 1,000mg of z pack at once to work rather than also 1,500 over 5 days?
t be able to make it to the doctors for the z pack this week but he has these antibiotics available. And if so what would his dosage length of treatment be ?
