Avatar f tn The tests are not all that accurate, and must be read in light of your symptoms and history. You should ask your MD about taking (more) doxycycline -- and tell him/her whether you stopped taking it before finishing the whole course as prescribed.
Avatar n tn Prior to the weekend trip I was on antibiotics for a sinus infection. A 14 day regimen that typically cures it up. Well being in Vegas with the boys alcohol was added to the equation rather quickly. So now I have alcohol on board, antibiotics on board and what better thing to do go to a Japanese Massage Parlor. Made sense right? This was truly my first trip to the parlor, my friend he was the master and showed us the way.
Avatar f tn Why is there so much debate as to whether or not there is Lyme in Australia? Is it because when someone says "Lyme" they only associate it one particular strain? I know I have potentially thrown the cat in amongst the pigeons but I think it is a valid topic for those in Australia suffering with Lyme Disease.
Avatar f tn Do you think Australia will eventually use rapid hiv tests to combat the hiv rates in Australia. I know Australia has great resources but read that they have not implemented point of care rapid tests.

Avatar m tn I am an American, but I got Lyme, Babesia, and Bartonella while on vacation in QD, Australia 8 years ago. Aussie Lyme is especially miserable. It's almost always Neuroborreliosis, with few cases of arthritis reported. It usually has a different presentation (collection of symptoms) than European or American Lyme, which is probably why my doctors didn't think of Lyme when I got sick. I've never had any joint issues and luckily, no muscle pain either.
Avatar f tn I had unprotected sex with someone who I don't know his sexual history. It was about 5 times. I have been tested for all common std such ad chlamydia and gonorrhoea which came back negative. My doctor told me he didn't believe it was necessary to test for hiv. The person I had sex with was not a drug user or a gay /bi sexual . What is my chance of having hiv after 5 times unprotected and living in Australia?
Avatar f tn FROM ONE OF THE TOP UK MEDICAL UNIVERSITIES) BUT I CAN SEE NO LOGICAL REASON WHY A SIMPLE SINGLE LARGE DOSE OF PROPHYLACTIC ANTIBIOTIC (USUALLY AMOXICILLIN FAMILY) IF THE PATIENT CANNOT GIVE A FULL PREVIOUS MEDICAL HISTORY.
Avatar f tn I had a sudden onset of lumps in my lower legs 12 weeks ago. They appear as ropey strings following the long bones but radiating out around the knees in clusters. When they first appear they are sore and appear red on the skin surface - later they take on a bruised appearance. Now I have them in lower arms and between knuckles on my right hand. Sometimes after walking I have intense pain in the bones of my lower legs - especially at night. Does this sound like Dercum's?
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
