Avatar f tn I have a UTI & my Dr prescribed antibiotics for it. I first noticed the infection when I got a backache, I have had kidney infection before so I knew it felt like that. I am starting my 5th day of antibiotics and had a.bad sleep last night. I woke up with my back really aching this morning (hurts to stand up for 5 mins). I am wondering if I should be worried that the antibiotics aren't working it if it's probably just the bad sleep.also, I am 28 weeks.
Avatar f tn I went to urgent care the other day because I was having really bad pain in my low back and could barely walk. The doctor said I had a Kidney infection and prescribed me antibiotics. My question is I have been taking them for 3 days now twice a day and been drinking lots of water, but my pain is still there it hasnt went away. Also when I woke up this morning I went pee and my right side hurt really bad for atleast 10 mins.
Avatar f tn I ended up in even more pain Saturday evening and they admitted me and finally realized it was a kidney infection. I spent from Saturday night until Wednesday afternoon. I was on iv antibiotics and iv fluids the whole time. I was discharged with instructions for modified bed rest and had to take macrobid the rest of my pregnancy to avoid it reoccurring. I ended up having my son at 35 weeks.
Avatar f tn Antibiotics for UTIs and kidney infections are often the same ones, so hopefully if it is a kidney infection it clears it up too. I've had a kidney infection before and it was terrible pain :/ Hope you get sorted out and feel better soon!
Avatar f tn Could this be something other than a UTI? Urine culture showed a bacterial infection. Is it common for this to take 1 or 2 courses of antibiotics to clear up?
Avatar f tn It is a kidney infection. I've been given antibiotics and sent hone.
Avatar f tn I went into hospital last october with a kidney infection. It was bad and didnt go for a long time. They did a scan and it showed scarring on both kidneys. This passed and all was fine until a month ago, I started having back pain again and discomfort when weeing then the pain started to go higher up my back, I went into hospital in agony and was immediatly put on a drip of iv antibiotics and given pain relief.

Avatar f tn Yup all 3 of my pregnancies I've had to take antibiotics at some point or another. Right now I'm on some for a uti I've also been on them for a sinus infection and a kidney infection during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I have an urinary infection but I'm really scared for my baby, tomorrow I'm going to the Dr for another fisit and I think he will give me antibiotics because I have back pain and under my belly hope it I'll be ok.
Avatar f tn I am in the same exact situation except I was in the hospital for mine and have not done a follow up with my dr yet to ask the questions of it being safe for the baby being on an antibiotic for almost 4 more months and the side effects.. I still have a few doses of the medicine before I go on it long term..
Avatar f tn Well I just found out I have a uti which I start antibiotics today. But what if it became a kidney infection. I mean ive been peeing alot since im drinking more water.
Avatar n tn I'd go back to the clinic as it could be that it is a kidney infection and the bacteria are resistant to the antibiotics you have. I know you don't want to cancel your trip but your health must come first!
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if it is possible to still have a kidney infection after rounds of antibiotics like Cipro and Levaquin? Every time I go to the ER they tell me that my urine is free of bacteria but contains white blood cells. I have extreme flank pain and abdominal pain.
1840402 tn?1355432565 I took antibiotics awhile back for an upper respiratory infection, and baby is still doing well, highly active and everything. I know it's hard, but I do think the doctor wouldn't give you anything that was dangerous for the baby.
Avatar f tn Definitely take the antibiotics. Uti is something that needs antibiotics to cure and if it goes untreated then can develop into a kidney problem which in some cases can cause early labour. Much safer to take the meds. I've been on the same antibiotics twice during this pregnancy and am now 36+ weeks and baby is perfectly healthy.
Avatar f tn I am hoping that I do not have to take them at all during this pregnancy as with my 8 year old I had to take them in 3rd trimester due to kidney infection and just recently my daughter had a water infection, two different antibiotics did not work for her, luckily the third cleared it up, I am worried my daughter has become immune to certain antibiotics due to me taking them in my pregnancy, it might not be that but it did put me off but it f you need them then there is nothing you can do
Avatar f tn They jus admitted me in the hospital for a double kidney infection i was n so much pain but the.baby is doin great and im bein as strong as possible im 17 weeks have any other mommies gone through this? ?
Avatar f tn You could have an obstruction or an infection in the kidney. I was quite close to dying from kidney failure when I was given the wrong antibiotics to take. This is nothing to mess around with. Please go to the ER, see a urologist, GP or urgent care.
Avatar m tn it sounds like a water infection you need to go to the doctors for treatment before it gets worse and causes a bad infection in the kidneys, make sure you are drinking alot of fluids to it helps to flush it away
168348 tn?1379357075 The stones are a by-product of MSK and are deep within the medullary and take a long time (if ever) to pass out. The antibiotics taken seem to rid the UTI for awhile only for them to come back continuosly. I've been told it's because the stones are extremely porous in nature and the infection deep inside the stone itself so an antibiotic merely acts as a band aid fix, while the infection is really still there inside the stone.
397460 tn?1268533736 This is the first time he sent off a sample for testing. He says it is a kidney infection due to the high levels of blood in my urine and fever. I am now taking a three week course of antibiotics in an effort to clear it up completly. I have taken note of all your advice and will follow thru with it. Thank you for taking the time to answer, it is much appreciated. Cath278.
Avatar n tn Thank you. I go see a doctor soon for the follow up for the kidney infection. Hopefully it cleared up.
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, yes, kidney infection can be related to the pyelonephritis. Urinary tract infection can be due to infection involving any part from kidney to urethra. Infection may be pyelonephritis (involving upper urinary tract), urethritis, uretitis, cystitis (lower urinary tract) etc. Presence of Anatomic abnormalities resulting in obstruction, stasis, or reflux of urinary flow all predisposes towards recurrent urinary infections.
Avatar f tn For a bladder infection that would be fine to try and cure it at home However a uti can jump out of your track and also infect your kidneys and it even gave me an infection in my Uteran wall thank god it was caught but a uti is nothing to play with get tested and get antibiotics just to keep baby safe
