Avatar m tn I think yellow stools can mean a lack of bile. I'm far from an nutritionist, but that sounds like a digestive matter, maybe from the drugs. Many, many people are allergic to Sulfa drugs, and throat swelling is a common symptoms of drug allergies. Avatar f tn Vitamin D deficiency is commonly due to not enough sunlight. However, the causes of vitamin D deficiency are numerous and you may have more than one condition contributing to this deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency is estimated to affect at least a billion people worldwide. When vitamin D levels are not rising well or at all (vitamin D resistance) low magnesium levels are the first suspect. High doses of vitamin D can worsen an existing magnesium deficiency.

Avatar f tn Hi Dr. Fong, I have been having muscle twitching(all over the body), muscle weakness (thighs and calfs)and soreness x 2 months. All my blood works are normal, except vitamin d level is 15. Does vitamin d deficiency can cause those symptoms?
Avatar n tn //www.vitamindcouncil.org/ as suggested above. I concur with the recent posts. Vitamin D deficiency can cause many problems unknown or ignored by some doctors. I am proof. My level was <7 and I had many symptoms associated with the deficiency. I was prescribed 50,000 units once a week and noticed almost immediate improvements in my level of energy. For years I complained of being tired to my doctors and my age, job, menopause, etc.
Avatar f tn This is my first post, I have been researching the effects of vitamin D deficiency, which brought me to you guys. I went to my Dr. with some worry-some issues, Did blood work and the only thing that came back abnormal was my vitamin D levels and B12 , which my Dr.. does not seem too concerned about. My vitamin D level was 11 , 3 months ago and I went to my Dr. feeling worse than ever, she did another round of blood work and I am at a 8.2.
Avatar f tn Start from the basic testing and work from there. Rarely is a Vit-D deficiency the cause of many issues, the deficiency is secondary to some other, underlying illness. People stop looking sometimes thinking that taking supplements will cure their ills - sometimes, sometimes not. Check everything to be sure. Be well.
1806721 tn?1554333407 Keep supplementing the vitamin d. You could get tested for Celiac disease. That causes malabsorption and can therefore cause vitamin D deficiency. The vit D deficiency causes the hypercalcemia you described. Get some sunlight also in safe amounts. Maybe L-argimine and L-glutamine would help you like it's helped me by helping digestion. Probiotics may even help, but this is just general health support.
Avatar f tn Excerpt from Know the Importance of Taking Enough Magnesium with Your Vitamin D... "Vitamin D, just like all other nutrients, works in harmony with several other nutrients to perform its many functions. Most importantly, vitamin D requires and 'uses up' magnesium to convert from supplements or sun into its active form in the blood. As such, it is a big mistake to simply take large doses of Vitamin D without taking the need for magnesium into consideration.

Avatar f tn About 2 weeks ago I went to the doctor complaining of hair loss and tingling in my hands and feet. The doctor ordered blood tests and confirmed that I have a vitamin B deficiency. My ANA also came back positive. I was told to take a complex B vitamin and also go see a rheumatologist. Since taking the vitamins I am still having all of these symptoms and am now worried that the doctor might be right about thinking I have lupus.
