Common Questions and Answers about Antibiotics cause stomach ache

antibiotics

Some medications cause an intolerance to cold. I found that if I used a sip of vinegar once a day to combat acid indigestion, it caused not only an intolerance to cold for me but also an actual allergic reaction to cold where ever I touched something cold. It didn't have to be real cold to cause the reaction just a little cool. Like walking bare footed on a cool floor or air hitting my wet body after a shower.

My 3 year old daughter has had a off & on stomach ache for just a little over 2 weeks now. I took her to the pediatrician on Friday 7-14-06 & she said she thought it was acid reflux & gave samples of prevacid. She said we should see improvement in 3-4 days & I could also give her pepto if she still hurts later in day after prevacid. We have seen no improvement & last night I had to give her the pepto. I don't feel I should be giving her both of these meds everyday.

Very mild & sporadic but come & go. The pain sometimes feels like a joggers side cramp. The pain occurs mostly when I am sitting. Some back ache when sitting but very mild. No blood in stools, no weight loss,no fatique, no vomiting or nausea & normal BM schedule.

I've been having those symptoms, and my doctor has told me it was an ulcer. It can cause your stomach to burn.Does your stomach burn after you eat?Or is the burning relieved by eating?Do you feel nauseated at times? You should go to the doctor(preferably a gastroenterologist)and have them check you out.
back pain, stomach ache, headaches, pain in the long bones and feet, and body spasms- which are not visible when you control your muscles; it is visible at rest/night time. My older one started having problems concentrating and her grades went down. (At this point I had the same problem at work. This problem is not completely gone but the worse time lasted for about 2 months – between 01/08-02/08).
You make great points about the spine/neck area. I wonder if this is the cause of such dull, aching shoulder pain, along with the weird nerve sensations? It seems so odd at times. Today, ibuprofen helped. But, I just wish that I could get rid of the feeling of being so "aware" of my left shoulder. There hasn't been one day in the past two months that the left shoulder wasn't on my mind. I did have an Echo and EKG, along with bloodwork back in May, due to heart palpitations.
Most of the tme it was an old fashioned stomach ache with intemittent brief nausea no diareah. My stomach and the whole area was tender to the touch. That lasted a few days. Its been 9 days since it started i hope its done. I wish I knew what caused it, for Gastrtis if I read it right, must have a cause for it to happen. My Dr. did really check my whole body for lymph nodes and found none swollen and with no fever I thing I can rule out a strange infection in my body.
I usually wake up and about 5 minutes later I have a stomach ache. Most last hours, some last days. I started a desk job and it is really affecting me working. My back pain is really intense and I dont think it is the Osteo-Athritis. I wont have Medical Insurance for another 3 months and I really need help getting this sorted out.
nausea, stomach ache, vomiting even when he only eats crackers or plain rice or a banana. He was given Phenergan for nausea and Domperidone (this has been ordered from India because it is not available in the US - and, of course has to be paid out of pocket - we have not received it yet). He has missed 10 days of school again and has been put on homebound schooling again. Will this ever end?
It started as a stomach flu, it came and went for about one week. At the end of one week, I got a stomach ache so severe I could barely move. The next day I started vomiting. The vomiting only lasted for one day, but since then I have not been able to eat hardly anything except for toast and bananas. Here is the pattern: One hour after I eat, I get sharp stabbing upper left stomach pains starting just under my xiphoid and to the left rib cage.

I am Italian and eat a wonderful diet. I have never had a stomach ache like that in my life. I can eat anything. I knew it was unusual. I had never even HEARD of gastritis, and if I did, thought it meant passing gas (which is normal and not painful) I am going to write up a scholarly article about it. It makes sense.
Peptic ulcer pain is usually a burning pain. They commonly occur in the stomach and duodenum. stomach ulcers cause pain on eating and duodenal ulcers cause pain on fasting (2-3 hrs after eating). The two common causes for this are: infection with helicobacter pylori and use of non steroidal anti inflammatory medications (NSAID). So for the ulcer to heal and to reduce acid levels avoid NSAID's, quit smoking, eliminate alcohol and reduce stress levels.
For the past couple of nights, I've awakened from sleep having to urinate due to a very full bladder and once I'm finished, I have a massive stomach ache for 15 minutes! It's definitely an ache, not a pain. Is something wrong, or is it just that my bladder could have been full for a while, causing pressure all over the place, and the relief is causing the after effects of pain?
by what mechanism are these kidney issues transferred to cause pain in the stomach/groin area? Thanks for any info you can provide.
Ironically, because antibiotics wipe out most intestinal bacteria — both normal and abnormal — they can cause some of the very problems they're trying to cure, including diarrhea and an imbalance of bacteria in the digestive tract. Nutritional support Addressing nutritional deficiencies is a crucial part of treating blind loop syndrome, particularly in people with severe weight loss. But although malnutrition can be treated, the damage it causes can't always be reversed.
My main complaint is the rib discomfort, this can range from a dull heavy ache, to stabs, electrical impulses or pain travelling along ribs round to my back. The more I have these pains, the more I panic which in turn makes them and my symptoms worse. Are these pains related to the cyst, and has my anxiety about them just made them far worse than what they were to start with???
On Sat March 2, I woke up with a stomach ache (The night before I had indulged in a sausage hot link). By noon on Sat, I had chills and an unbleievable pain in my upper right abdomen (I thought I had the flu). Could not eat and everytime I did, the pain would get worse. On Mon Dr thought it was flu. Finally Tuesday at 4pm I had Untrasound of Gallbladder-nothing showed up. By 7 pm I was at emergency room- could not take pain any more. They put me on IV for dehydration & gave me pain killers.
it will get better, it takes time for your stomach to get back to what it was, don't give up and don't push antibiotics! While antibiotics are great in certain circumstances, in others they can be more harmful than beneficial!
Hi, When I run/jog or work out hard for more than 10 minutes, I begin to experience a dull ache in one or both of my testicles, which then develops into sharper, shooting pains for up to an hour after I have finished running. About a year ago, my doctor diagnosed me with Epididymitis (swelling of the tube on the back of the testicle) on my right side and I took Ciprofloxacin (500mg twice a day for 10 days) and the very severe pains went away.
She said that I had alot of mucosa in my stomach which can sometimes cause the biopsy results to come back wrong. I am so scared. My husband has to be checked for h-pylori too. Other than taking the antibiotics, is there anything I should be doing right now? Any other tests to detect stomach cancer? Geez........
