Antibiotics cause insomnia

Common Questions and Answers about Antibiotics cause insomnia

antibiotics

I have tried Melatonin and many other natural supplements to combat my insomnia. Insomnia was my first MAJOR symptom and by far the most difficult to deal with. Without sleep there is not much healing taking place as I'm sure you have experienced. I did notice that earlier on I was able to fall asleep with Benadryl and L-Tryptophan together but as time went on, that worked less effectively. Currently, I am taking Lunesta for sleep.
It is known that Flu, sinus and other types of infections that require antibiotics are sometimes the cause of some type of stress already excistant in your life. There is a book i have just brought and i cannot wait to read it is called "Deadly Emotions" it is about your emotions causing your body to become sick, lowering your immune system and thus allowing all types of nasty things to hurt you.
About a month ago, I had endoscopic sinus surgery, which removed a fungal infection. Since then, my nose has felt clear - in fact, it's strange how easily I'm now able to breathe through both nostrils. My problem is that I have been having severe insomnia every night since the surgery. I have difficulty falling asleep (usually takes an hour), and then wake up early, between 3 AM and 5 AM. I also have been more anxious, but it's hard to tell if that's related to the insomnia problem.
I went through a bout of insomnia last spring, before I was diagnosed. Well, I'm not really sure it was insomnia, but I couldn't sleep for more than 2-3 hours at a time, because my symptoms would intensify the longer I was lying down or even just reclining. (My symptoms have always shown an odd dependence on my posture.) I'd wake up in unpleasant states, with a lot of sensory symptoms and other discomforts, and then wouldn't be able to get back to sleep for hours more.
I have been on Prevacid for about two weeks now, but only have a few pills left, and I found that if I stop taking them I get insomnia, headaches, and lucid dreams. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how long did it last?
I haven't found any oral contraceptives to be of much benefit, though they cause no harm either. Antibiotics are standard dermatologic therapy for acne. Used properly, thy do not, even after long-term use, cause weakening of the immune system or susceptibility to infections. Eryhtromycin is particularly innocuous. (The heartbeat issue concerns only joint use with nonsedating antihistamines.) Having red marks which might scar all over the face is not a trivial matter.
I also have been told I am basically a carrier for strep I test positive every time and the antibiotics don't seem to do crap they run out before I get better! I also had sores all over my body one time from what I read online I would say I had Scarlet fever but the doctor said its exactly like scarlet fever but its not?
I was diagnosed with Pneumonia almost 2 years ago cleared up with antibiotics. Ever since, a couple of times a month, I have nights where I cannot sleep due to salivating and coughing. Do you know why and/or how to remedy this? Thank you...
hopefully will go away with fiber but the anxiety is killing me.. not sure if it's lack of sleep causing insomnia or anxiety causing insomnia...either way it's not fun. (sorry long one..
I agree exactly with your doctor about the probable cause of your insomnia. That said, 2 weeks is too soon for valid testing. No HIV testing was necessary based on either the risk or your symptoms -- but since you've already done one test, I suggest another so you have the additional reassurance of a definitive blood test. Enough time has passed for valid testing. You could either see your GP again, or visit your nearest NHS GUM clinic.
I know the endocrine system is connected and relies on gastrointestinal functions (specifically absorption of vitamins and minerals) to work properly. I'm looking for a root cause. I've been treating symptom after symptom for over a decade. I've never had regular menstrual cycles and have been on birth control for nearly a decade to regulate them.
I had no illnesses that cause it, and the only med I had taken was all that Flagyl which cause PN. No hospital doc had told me this could be a side effect - just kept pumping it into me. I still can't walk (other than a little in my apt. where I can hold on to things). My car is still in parking lot as can't drive. Can't even get down extemely long hallways in wheelchair to get downstairs to lobby to get my mail or outside to dumpster.
My general health was normal. I have had insomnia for years, suffered headaches and digestive problems such as constipation, bloating and gases. Those little things that bother you, but you can still do your normal life. At the end of the Journal, there is a summary of Symptoms, Test done and their result, and Possible causes of this “disease” In 04/07 we moved to the apartments where all this started (in LA, California).
The oral surgion has said this would not be the cause of his headaches and insomnia. Does anyone have any suggestions -- my child is in pain and tired.

None of the symptoms you are typical reactions from Levaquin. You should call your doctor. Stopping antibiotics part way through a course is not a good idea unless your doctor tells you to stop. It can cause superbugs that are resistant to antibiotics or your infection can come back.Selective bug breeding LOL....

(lost 20) 5 '4'' I have had a long journey battling illness and I can say that candida has always been the cause. I was given many rounds of antibiotics for chronic bladder infections as a 5 year old. With in five years of this I became fatigued, and obese by the age of 10. From this point on my health was always a problem for my parents.
I ended up in the hospital from getting MRSA (first hospital stay overnight, was in 6 days on antibiotics through IV 8 hours a day). I attempted suicide at one point. His lack of caring that I was watching him talk to other women online/on phone really hurt me. We had to walk everywhere cos he didn't have a car and sometimes I'd go a day or so without eating. I tried meth twice myself but quickly found out it wasn't worth it, although I still crave sometimes.

We are looking into the possibility of SIBO by seeing if a course of antibiotics helps the symptoms. SIBO would cause the excessive burping. I will try Alka Seltzer to see if it has any affect on the burping. One thing that definitely makes me worse now is adding fiber, or at least the insoluble kind. I've actually had to reduce my fiber intake to settle my stomach. I drink plenty of water throughout the day and I'm fairly physically active.
I had been told that when my husband was on triple treatment and had to stop because of severe anemia that ribavirin was the drug that caused the anemia but I just read in some old literature its the interferon shots that cause the anemia. So which is it? Or, is it both? Is anyone who is using Ribavirin now with Sovaldi experiencing anemia? Just want to know what to look out for.
Also when the food leaves the stomach at longer intervals, it can create problems with blood sugars and cause the symptoms of dizziness, etc. Hypothyroidism can cause this disorder as well. Worth looking into.
I am a 38 year old female who has spent too much time at doctor's offices this year. Years' prior to this I would go for an annual physical and a trip or 2 to the doctor for a sinus infection. I have seasonal allergies that I take zyrtec or xyzol for when needed. I don't really take any other meds except a daily vitamin when I remember. My labs have all come back okay so not my thyroid or potassium levels.

does fentyl patches cause nausea,i have been on themfor 3mo.during this time my asthma got bad during this time .been on 4 doses of antibiotics, with all the other things asthma users have to do.
You might mask a true infection so that you prolong getting proper treatment as well as you can add to your problems - might even cause fungal over growth to cause issues down yonder. so let's say a few days have passed and you are SURE that something is going on down yonder. Well then go see your provider or visit a std clinic for proper evaluation. Discuss your risk with them and get a more accurate picture of just how worried you should be.
Yes, you can, but you might not want to. The primary reason we shouldn't have alcohol while taking antibiotics is because of "cumulative effects" on the body. That is to say, the side effects of zythromax are things like vertigo, weakness, dizziness, breathing problems, face and tongue swelling, diarrhea, insomnia, to mention a few, and alcohol can make these side effects more likely and/or worse.
