Common Questions and Answers about Antibiotics and rash

antibiotics

Avatar f tn 2 brothers had a rash appear (and after swimming in a public pool) it has become severe and after several visits to a couple of different doctors it has been diagnosed as a staph infection. They are currently taking antibiotics for this. However, a skin scraping was not taken. Now, the health dept. and the parents are requesting the test to identify exactly which bacteria it is. Will the results be altered by already having the antibiotics on board?
Avatar f tn Thinking it was chlamydia or herpes I took 4x azithromycin 250 caps and 2x famciclovir 125 tabs. That night I went I the shower. I had a huge rash covering my whole stomach , above my groin and the inside of my thigh . It was very noticeable and pronounced . The next day it was gone. But the little but on my inner thigh was still there. I'm getting the penis symptoms checked out ( how difficult is it to access services if you work full time though!!!!) . I've had no other symptoms.
Avatar n tn If one was infected with syphilis and had an orthepedic surgery two months later, would the antibiotics given through iv before surgery and the antibiotics taken after surgery in pill form kill the bacteria? Or would it not cure the bacteria and end up concealing the secondary rash?
Avatar m tn 5 pills in she started having an allergic reaction (rash under her arms and on her thighs). We called her primary doc and she prescribed Bactra twice a day for 7 days. Things seem to be clearing up. She has been on the Bactra for 2 days now. Three or four days before she went to the ER I was popping Cipro's 500mg twice a day just because we happen to have it and I was worried sick I had an STD. The day after the ER visit (3 weeks after oral) I went and got an STD test.
Avatar f tn Trimovate is what I have been using so far but it is so difficult to use the correct amount too much and the rash is worse to little and the rash flares. He has suffered with it since he was 5 month old and I am so fed up with trying different things with nothing helping. When he is ill and not eating the rash clears yet when he starts eating it flares once again. Fruit is ok, now trying to leave out gluten but we shall see. Thank you once again it is very much appreciated.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and have finished my course of antibiotics, however I'm still on Prevacid. I developed a rash on my forehead about two days into treatment, and it's still there. I thought at first it was the Amoxicillin, but I finished that about a week ago, and the rash is still there. Could the rash be from Prevacid?
Avatar m tn ve had the anal rash, and tender lymph nodes in the groin. I know antibiotics take a toll on your immune system, and that's the last thing I need.
Avatar f tn I plan to do what I said, finish the antibiotics fully and go back to the doctor and test again after the month of antibiotics... Do you think this is good enough? any other opinions? advice?
Avatar n tn ) PD is a bacterial condition so you need to get on a long course of oral antibiotics (4 weeks or more) and the antibiotics used for this condition is Tetrocyclin and Minocycline (not sure if these are spelled correctly as I don't have the reference right here now but you can easily find out by Googling this). Some research also point to that Sodium Lauryl Sulfates (a foaming agent in handwashes, face washes, shampoos, toothpastes among other things) can cause PD and also make it worse.
18966962 tn?1472601945 A red rash can be a lot of different things, e.g. balanitis and lichen plantus, and of course yeast as well. Anyway, doxycycline and azithromycin AND rocephin (ceftriaxone) covers basically all the STDs you can name, from syphilis to gonorrhea to chlamydia to even chancroids (H. ducreyi). Of course, it doesn't cover the viral ones like HIV and HSV, but then neither of these cause discharge. Moreover, I don't think the discharge has anything to do with STDs.
Avatar m tn If still the lumps persist then specific treatment like antibiotics, vit A supplements, corticosteroid injections, isotretinoin, antiandrogens and sometimes excision and drainage , laser therapy and radiotherapy are found useful. I feel that you should consult a dermatologist and discuss these options with him. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn If the symptoms are not controlled by topical antibiotics, then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult your dermatologist and discuss this with him. Also then get the other differentials of eczema and contact dermatitis ruled out. Hope it helps. Take care and do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Warm regards.
Avatar n tn Perioral dermatitis is a chronic papulopustular and eczematous facial dermatitis. Treatment consists of oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. A mild soap or soap substitute, such as Dove or Cetaphil should be used for washing. Scrubbing should be avoided. If the symptoms are not controlled by topical antibiotics, then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult your dermatologist and discuss this with him. I hope it helps.

Avatar n tn i have recently developed a rash in the crack of my bottom which is getting worse and seems inflamed. ive recently finished taking antibiotics, could this be the problem?
Avatar m tn I had been taking some pretty heavy antibiotics recently and started to noice a rash along my right groin in the fold between my thigh and genitals. (I've been off the antibiotics for a couple of weeks now). Initially, I ignored the rash, hoping it would go away but now, several weeks later, it is burning, itching, and it started appearing on my left groin area as well. I've tried Tinactin and Hydracortazone off an on for the past 2 weeks with little or no success.
Avatar f tn It usually takes about 72 hours for antibiotics to kick in. The rash probably is a strep rash. You might want to call the dr. back about the boils and/or pussfilled sacs. The spray may help the blisters that are not open in the back of your throat but may really irritate that are open. I feel for you. My kids had this a couple of weeks ago but got better after three full doses of antibiotics. They were miserable.
Avatar f tn s actually how I found out I was pregnant, I went to the doctor and requested antibiotics to clear up my rash. Over this past weekend I made a soup at home, again used tap water, not thinking (I know), to make it and my rash worsened. Then, last night it was like a heavy day during my period, then it stopped. Could my allergy to the chlorine be the reason I have been spotting so long? Just curious until I speak to my doctor. I keep thinking over and over its my faults if something happens bad.
Avatar f tn Oh yeah. I had chronic strep for about half a year until we decided to do surgery. I don't think I ever really had a fever. Second stage strep is a rash or hives anywhere on your body. Just go see a normal Dr and test for it. Even if it's negative (it's common to get false results) antibiotics are a good idea. If you get the rash or hives see someone asap! Third stage strep is organ failure and that's a huge deal. Hope your ok soon!
Avatar n tn Red rash I have had for a couple of years on my back goes when given antibiotics and steroids for a chest infection but comes back when Ive finished taking the medication
Avatar n tn i was given a rash lubricant, allergy medicine, and viral antibiotics. the rash was gone within 2 days. i had no fever and no swollen lymph nodes. i felt better in 2 days, and there was no followup was done. Fast forward to the summer. i have had a 2 groupings of pimples on my face for the past 3 months. acne has also gone on my back and i am peeling what seems to be white heads on my chest and back. i also have wat appears to be folliculitis on my lower penile shaft.
Avatar m tn two days after my exam, I developed a rash around my anus and a couple inches radiating outwards, and it looks like a typical rash from moisture, or irritation... only itchy, not painful, no blisters.. but it's lasted a few days. I figured it was because of the lingering lubrication from the exam, and that maybe it got more irritated when I run. Anyways, yesterday I woke up with painful lymph nodes in my lower groin area, and it continues today.
