dandruff

Avatar f tn I experience a lot of itching in them. I oil my scalp regularly and use an anti dandruff shampoo but so far no improvement. I have 4-5 such patches on my scalp and every time i brush my hair, a lot of dandruff comes out. Someone please advise!
Avatar m tn I myself have had the same sort of thing lucky you had no burning it does sound like seborrhiec dermatitis using an anti dandruff shampoo such as nizorelle (costs about £5.00) contains ketocozanle which acts as an anti fungal ingredient and can also be used as a body wash (so my doc informs me) in the dry hair only formulation it uses collagen to nourish and repair the hair shaft as well as improving overall condition.
Avatar m tn dry parts on my head that I can feel and scrape off which leaves dead skin cells on my finger tips, therefore I know my scalp is dry. However, head and shoulders and other anti dandruff shampoos have done nothing at all to stop the itch. The only thing that worked was last year when I got a prescription Allegra D. The antihistimine must have stopped the itching for the time being but it did not solve the problem. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Avatar f tn I also live in MI and its very cold right now. Bottom line is do I need to seek a dermtalogist or just use an anti-dandruff shampoo & oil my scalp more?
Avatar n tn There are many over the counter anti dandruff shampoos. Selsen Blue is one of them. If your hair is naturally too oily, try a shampoo the says "clarifying" . A lot of these type of shampoos help at the root of the hair shaft and help balance out the amount of moisture present. I have a teenage daughter with this exact problem. I ended up buying a clarifying shampoo from a local beauty salon.
Avatar n tn hi friends, when ever i sctratch my head , some white wetty substance get stucked into my nails.... what is this ? is this fungus ? or dandruff? i shampoo four times a week with garnier antidandruff, ......pls help me...
Avatar f tn hello, thanks for the explanation and advice.I found a solution to my problem, and i was the shampoo that i was using. Right now im using himalaya's anti dandruff shampoo and it works. No more greasy hair. Thank you so much and i appreciate the explanation you provided, it helped a lot.
Avatar f tn I tried a dandruff shampoo that contains zinc pyrithione, but this time I rubbed the shampoo directly on the spots instead of just the foam. My ears and groin are still red but the scales and scabs are virtually gone in less than 10 days and I only itch when the skin is wet (sweat or post-shower). Hey, this works. And I'm tired of itching. And now parts of my scalp are itching, on top of the ears, face, chest, belly area and groin.
Avatar n tn I agree with jemma116 about going back to the doctor. Did you see a dermatologist or your primary care physician? If you didn't see a dermatologist, I would suggest seeing one for this type of issue. It could be that the shampoo is drying your scalp out and exacerbating the dandruff and irritating the sores, preventing healing. I've personally found Head & Shoulders, Nizoral, Selsun Blue, and all those anti-dandruff shampoos to make my scalp worse.
Avatar m tn im 25 years old male... i have compl;ain of dandruff from last 6, 7 years..... the doctors said its due to fungal infection( psoriasis) . i tried almost evry medicine, lotio, ol, creams... but all in vain.... now my front hair line is almost all damaged... i have very thick hair on my front side.. also the new hair grows but when i started itching my head that very new hair also falls with flakes of dandruff. please help me and suggest some medicine or anything...
Avatar m tn I tried several anti-dandruff shampoos because of a hunch. Mostly they somewhat helped while in use, but the effect was very temporary and never completely masked the symptoms. (This involved both tar and zinc, commonly used for seborrhea) They also caused significant irritation, and sometimes even pain, and took days to help at all. Persistent applications for weeks showed no further improvement.
Avatar n tn I think this resulted in me developing serious dandruff. its been a problem for a while now. I think there is some hairloss and scalp is very dry and itchy. Everytime I run my fingers through my hand i can see flakes falling down. I plan on shaving my head and start applying some cream. Can you recommend any medicine or any remedies. I would really appreciate some help. thank you, max.
506570 tn?1215836300 I have a 4 year old Alaskan Malamute, Loki, who has dandruff like flakes on some areas of his skin. His hair is also a bit thinner along his spine on his lower back. I have tried researching skin conditions in Malamutes and found a lot of information on zinc-responsive dermatosis in Alaskan Malamutes. I would love to know if anyone else is giving their dog zinc supplements and how you went about finding out that your dog has zinc-responsive dermatosis.
Avatar m tn what can i do about oily dandruff? all the things available in the market seem to be for dry dandruff. what products should i be using? any changes in my diet or lifestyle u could recommend?
Avatar m tn You can use anti-dandruff shampoos on the infected skin as many contain anti-fungal chemical compounds such as pyrithione zinc, selenium sulfide, and ketoconazole (Nizoral). Tea tree oil can also be used since it is a natural anti-fungal. ref:http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn Put Urticaria into your search Engine, we call it Hives here, there is a lot of information there also pictures so you can compare, if it is Urticaria it is often something you are allergic to, they give you anti histimines for the itch but that doesnt get rid of it, very often it has to run its course, unless you can figure out what triggered it, sometimes differant foods and Shower gels, and Laundry washing liquids.
Avatar m tn lotion (a lot, especially around my nose, because it is the most noticeable) I use anti dandruff shampoo) This has been a never ending problem, and I am going to college in a few months and would really prefer not having it, especially with a room mate and having to slap on lotion every 10 minutes. If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated.
Avatar n tn coal-tar preparations (Neutrogena T/Gel, Tegrin) ; Pyrithione zinc (Suave Dandruff Control, Pert Plus Dandruff Control, Head & Shoulders) ; Salicylic acid and sulfur (T-Sal, lonil T, Sebulex) ; Selenium sulfide (Selsun, Exsel); and Ketoconazole (Nizoral A-D). (ref: http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/understanding-dandruff-treatment)If these do not help, you may need stronger prescription shampoo from your doctor. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn It seems to me every time I am due for my period (or after it) I develop dandruff on my skin. Is this hormonally linked?

Avatar n tn after using any anti dandruff shampoo like clinic plus, head & shoulder my head ache starts. why? i use other shampoo also but only anti dandruff starts my head ache. i want to know which chemical affecting me?
Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.
