Avatar f tn Anyone have experience with any over the counter depression medicine that works well?
Avatar f tn I have several presentations that I have to give next week and I was hoping for some suggestions as to what I can take to help ease my anxiety. Whenever I have to give major speeches or presenations like these, I get shaky and nauseous and dizzy, and now I've realized that I'd like to take something to try and prevent it from happening again. I've been looking into it, and I've read about St. John's Wort, Valerium Root, but that's about it.

Avatar f tn yes yes, I am clean from Vicoden, Antidepresants but still am using a sleep aid, have been using over the counter meds for sleep since the 80's then went to prescription sleep aid and now I only sleep 3 or 4 hours using them. I am going to go off them soon. My Dr would like to see me wait until Jan just because I came off two meds this year and had surgery's but please don't go to prescription sleep aids I think it is harder to get off them than OCT.
Avatar n tn But, I would like to know if there is an over the counter medicine. I only get the urgency after a little stress. It stops after 10 hours or so on it's own. But, a cheaper "as needed" OTC medicine would sure be something I am interested in.
Avatar n tn I do not have insurance any longer so therefore stop taking the medicine. What can I replace it with that is over the counter . This discussion is related to Pain throughout both legs after bypass surgery.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to become addicted to over the counter medications? My 75 year old mother recently moved to my town so that I could help her financially, etc. I have become very concerned about the amount of excederine, prilosec, nasal spray, aleve, and other antacid medicines that she takes. She has a history of bleeding ulcers, she smokes about 2 packs of cigarettes a week, high blood pressure, and other ailments of old age. I didn't realize that she was taking so much of this medicine.
Avatar f tn I have a cold an taking no medicine is killing me. Is there Any over the counter meds I can take?
Avatar n tn Finally if going to the bathroom is painful run water over the area, urinate in a tub or shower. All these help to dilute the acid in the urine. If you have a lesion in an area that is causing a lot of pain and if it is so positioned that by putting a finger or two on it then put some thing on your hand and cover the area by pressing down and covering the area which will make it less painful to go to the bathroom. To make you feel better as well bath in either Aveeno or Epson (sp?
5079728 tn?1365549989 So any medication that you can go in and buy without a prescription is considered an over the counter medication. This would include every single med lined up on the shelves ..... pain killers, cough meds, diarrhea meds, nausea meds, stomach meds, anti-itching meds, everything. If I recall correctly, you have cirrhosis, so you really do have to be careful not to take anything that the doctor does not approve first.
Avatar f tn An over the counter medication is any medication that can be purchased without a prescription "over the counter", but does not make the medication safer and needs to be taken according to the directions on the package and there is a need to be more vigilent and take into consideration individual health, the benefits versus the risks and potential interactions with any prescribed meidcations.
Avatar f tn My doc thinks my vomiting and indigestion could be helped with over the counter indigestion meds. Is anyone else taking anything? Have they worked? How have they reacted with your anxiety meds? Thanks!
612551 tn?1450022175 I provide the symptom explanation as the cause of my question about over-the-counter (non-prescription) anti-congestion medications that any have found helpful. I have tried several (will list if this post goes anywhere) with minimal benefit. Problem: I've experiencing chronic nasal congestion, worse this spring than usual, especially when I lie flat on my bed, but also worse in the afternoon than during earlier part of the day.
Avatar f tn Aspirin is the only temperary relief that works. I have tried over the counter and prescription anti inflammatory medicine and neither helped.
Avatar f tn i found that the over the counter medicine called Midnite isn't good for depressive people. i went to buy some and read the precations. oh well i will try something else. :-) thanks for all the responses.
Avatar n tn My doctor is the one who prescribed the Naproxin. He is aware of course, that I have high blood pressure. He said controlling the blood pressure is more important than my hands feeling better. He said if I have a stroke, I won't care if my hands hurt. But I think the Naproxin is raising my blood pressure. So if you are staying away from all anti-infammatory medications, what are you doing for your arthritis pain???
Avatar m tn I am currently taking 150 mg of effexor xr. My question is What over the counter medicine can I take for headaches?
Avatar m tn First, over the counter really refers to pharmaceutical products that don't require a prescription. Supplements range from taking food in pill or powder form to taking things that are produced in a lab. As for the question, it's not that simple.
5811228 tn?1374718728 It is trial and error and your trial means taking the recommended dosage for 4 weeks minimum and communicating with your doc or pharmacist along the way if the reaction you are getting is not good. I found an all night pharmacy works best because there are so many worrying things that can come up in he first 8 weeks of any anti-dep drug that an expert can help with. In my case all of my issues were nothing and they all passed but everyone is different.
1418633 tn?1314546745 Bill is right - Atarax/Vistaril/Hyrdroxyzine works wonders with the itching, but you need a prescription for it. Another over the counter med is Benadryl - readily available over here but not sure in India. In another thread some of us had commented on applying ice packs/cool towels which help in a pinch. Hope is subsides soon because it's really bothersome.
4371309 tn?1357956329 My Dr at Kaiser said that the OTC and the ones they prescribe are the same. I didn't argue with her since she has the degree and just bough some from the pharmacy. When ever your next visit is with your OB check with her/him.
