anxiety

Avatar f tn Im on medication for depression and anxiety. Also occasionally I have a sedative in case I go bizzercerz. Would that hurt my child more than stress would?
Avatar f tn I've never wanted medication for my anxiety. My doctor insisted, so I tried it. I started with 10mg of lexapro and I started feeling better some days. I stopped taking it during vacation (because my work apparently triggers my anxiety) and I felt pretty good. When I got back to work I started on lexapro again but this this time I had all sort of side effects possible. My dr.
Avatar m tn I think many us of have either went through this or are going through it with our meds. Do you have both depression and anxiety? I'm asking because if you have just anxiety you may be able to take only an anxiety med and they usually do not cause sexual side effects. If you do have depression along with anxiety you might want to think about Wellbutrin or Cymbalta. But, you would most likely need to add an anxiety med. Both of these meds are known for not causing sexual side effects.
Avatar m tn whats the best medication out there that can help treat anxiety dizziness, fainting and light headed'ness? the only anti anxiety medication iv tryed is pregabalin, which that didnt help the dizziness.im allso on fluxoteine and sturgeon, any help is great!
Avatar m tn All anti-anxiety and anti-depressants that I know of will cause sexual side effects ie. low libido, lack of abilty to 'perform', etc. I have taken several different ones over the years, and still take them. I have actually chosen to tolerate the low libido in exchange for not feeling miserable all day every day. I am also married, 17 years now, and we are happy. We have had to make adjustments in our sex life to accomodate my low drive.
Avatar n tn I have tried many anti-depressants and most of them give me tremors (where my jaws start jerking for no reason) is this normal?
1321537 tn?1274470517 What other medication are you on? Sometimes anti-depressants are taken for anxiety also--like the SSRI's. I take Paxil for my anxiety...and when I was getting used to it (usually takes about a month) I took clonazepam, so I have some experience with it. I originally went on medication after the birth of my 3rd child. I was having some severe post-partum anxiety with panic attacks. First we tried cipralex, and it never actually started working for me...
581310 tn?1253029550 My question is I was thinking about having my therapist put me on klonopin for the anxiety and switch my anti depressant. What anti depressant do you think would be good for anxiety and ocd? Also, I have noticed since being on the prozac that my hands are always shaky.
Avatar f tn Personnally, I take one of the oldest anti-anxiety medication around and that is diazepam. I take 10 mg. 4 times a day and find it keeps both my GAD and my panic attacks in check. Avatar m tn Hi there, ive been trying lexapro for the past 6 weeks or so to combat my stints of anxiety. Although i feel slightly better from the medication i cant handle the sexual side effects. Im in a new relationship and for love nor money i just cant orgasm. My sex drive is much lower too. Has anyone had experiences from other medications that dont give these side effects?
Avatar f tn I am currently looking for a new depression medication. I need some info on something that is NOT a SSRI, a hormone, and is not zoloft, celexa, or prozac......also something that does not contain salicylic acid aka aspirin. If anyone can help I would appreciate the help.
Avatar f tn There is a theroy that suggest the reasons for some reported weight gain is simply because when an SSRI medication results in improved mood and less anxiety that we tend to eat a bit more. Most severly depressed individuals also suffer from a severe loss of appitite. Maybe we just eat more when taking an SSRI because we feel better and have our normal appitite back. Tri-cyclic meds on the other had really do cause weight gain. I take Nortriptilyne and it REALLY causes sweet cravings bad.
Avatar f tn hi lola, having been in your position before i would advise you to find another doctor or medication. I suffer from Major Clinical Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder and Chronic Pain. I was initially prescribed SSRI based Anti-Depressants for my Depression and Tramadol 200SR for my pain. The SSRI medication "Ecitalopram" i was told would take 5 weeks to kick in. In that time i developed serious side effects and instead of taking me off this medication my doctor threw more pills at me.
Avatar f tn The side effect profile on it is not much better then other anti-psychotics and unless you are experiencing severe depression I would question its use. Stick with Lamictal though, it will ease withdrawal symptoms for you. Ask your NP why s/he did not choose a different more convention SSRI or SNRI antidepressant. Good luck and stay well.
Avatar f tn can then recommend a treatment plan for your anxiety - which might involve talk therapy, diet/exercise, medication (anti-anxiety meds / antidepressants), or a combination of all three. I had severe irritable bowel symptoms associated with panic / anxiety, that are now under control with my current treatment (lexapro, xanax, therapy, and exercise). Hope this helps..
Avatar f tn Why is it that you should always start with an ssri first rather than snri? Is that for both anxiety and depression? Please explain..thanks!
Avatar m tn Sounds too like you have anxiety. You may need to try a different anti depressant. There are lots on the market, and there will be one to suit you. I have been on quite a few different ones over 20 years. Don't be scared to try a different one. You are making yourself over anxious, and that is not good for you.
3581773 tn?1349121910 as antidepressants, but they are used to treat anxiety as well. SSRIs are the primary, first line medication used to treat anxiety (aside from the anti-anxiety meds, like Ativan, Xanax, Klomnopin, ertc). Zoloft, an SSRI is THE most commonly Rx'd med for anxiety disorders. 1772374 tn?1326246237 Hi Jordan, I have terrible socail phobia/anxiety stemming from being teased as a kid. Have you similar experience? Anyway, LYRICA helps me feel more at ease and even more friendly around people. This drug works to slow down the brain so it's not over-stimulated 24/7. And for the PTSD try EMDR.
Avatar f tn After many years of Anxiety/Depression and many different types of anti-depressants ...i have recently been prescribed Escitalopram 5mg. I was wondering if anyone had taken this medication and were the results good/bad/indifferent.
3183328 tn?1351183517 What's your opinion on anti anxiety medication? I've been going out more but I have a hard time getting in the car, then I have a hard time getting out. And I freak out. I'm seeing a therapist, and she said it's all up to me. She has anxiety too and she takes medication. So I was wondering which did you have the best results with, do you think i should take a low dosage, and also, what side effects do they have.
Avatar m tn m wondering if anyone else has had PPA or PPD and been given medication that helped treat anxiety that was not an SSRI and was still able to breast feed.
Avatar f tn Hello, I can not fine what medication you are taking but there should not be any problem taking a anti-diarreahal together with a SSRI. SSRI are safe and relatively weak therefour they are safe to take and will not cous amy major changes in the bodyphysiology. You can check interactions at http://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.
Avatar m tn What kind of medication have you been prescribed? I am a proponent of medication combined with talk therapy when dealing with anxiety. Depending on what kind of medication you are on, in my experience, some side effects can stay with you for a little while (i.e, when starting, stopping, or adjusting the dosage of an SSRI). For me, medication is a useful tool when confronting anxiety, but it is not a 'cure all.' We all react differently to medications, and must weigh the pros vs.
