Avatar n tn I'm a 27-year-old female and I "recovered" from severe anorexia after in-patient treatment in 2005. I'm 5'3" tall and weighed in the low 70s before treatment. After treatment, I was eating about 1850 calories a day and weighed just under 100 pounds (still low, I know). I continued eating about that much and exercised a bit more (but not much), and by spring 2006, my weight had dropped for some unknown reason to about 83 pounds. I was secretly pleased but disturbed.
751951 tn?1406632863 s been suggested that some seeking a new avenue should pursue those who are members of the Coalition of Multiple Sclerosis Centers. My question today is, is it acceptable to ask about specific MS centers? I'm waiting to hear from one, have another in mind, and keep hearing suggestions (from less informed sources) that I should check out another. Of these, the first and third are CMSC members. The third is probably a good hundred miles away, maybe a bit more.

Avatar f tn I was wondering about the medical and social differences between patients with anorexia and patients with orthorexia, or if generally they are felt to be the same disease?
Avatar m tn //www.webmd.com/mental-health/eating-disorders/anorexia-nervosa/mental-health-anorexia-nervosa#1. Diagnosis of eating disorders requires you to step outside of it and ask for help. The best place to start may be to have a physical and express your eating practices and concerns over your weight at that time. If your physician agrees you have an unhealth relationship with food, they may suggest the next step for help.
Avatar f tn Are you under treatment by an anorexia specialist? As you may have learned, the disorder is very, very difficult to treat. There is a little evidence that certain antidepressants of the SSRI class may help somewhat. I don't have anorexia, but I do have panic attacks, and my experience is that if your shrink tries you out on several (I tried 4 or 5), one of them may prove to be the magic bullet for that problem. In my case, a wee dose of Zoloft did the job.

667078 tn?1316000935 Back when I got sober 30 years ago Alcoholism treatment centers were all the rage. Then it was Cancer treatment centers. The staff took the team approach. How about a MS program. MS treatment Centers of America. They would get you on Steroids if you needed them. Start you on a DMD. Set up appointments with other professionals such as Urologists or have them on staff who understand MS. Work on PT and OT.
Avatar f tn I'm glad you are reaching out about this. Based on what you have said in your question, I don't know if you meet all of the DSM criteria to be diagnosed as anorexic, BUT your behaviors are putting you well on your way to that diagnosis. I'm in recovery from anorexia and it started as EDNOS but very quickly turned into full blown anorexia. You say this has been going on off and on for a few months and the best advice I can offer is to get help asap.

Avatar f tn Like in AA, treatment centers are a forum for addicts and alcoholics to meet and share their common problems and share ideas about solutions. I think I related more to my fellow patients more than with AA members. Don't get me wrong, I completely relate to everyone in the rooms of AA/NA, But at that point in time, I really needed to be with people that were suferring, withdrawling and as desperate as I was.
Avatar f tn Is there ANY treatment center in the US that my husband can go to without insurance or payment before service?
Avatar m tn Hey Mike, you're right, not all are fortunate enough to get to a treatment center. It's unfortunate that they are not more accessible to everyone, but I can tell you that you don't need treatment to get through detox, and involve yourself in a 12 step program. Basically that is the outcome of any treatment program.
