1310561 tn?1285863461 Anorexia is an eating disorder and is very hard on you body. While you are young now and it might not seem important, anorexia will cause issues as you get older, such as trouble with your periods, difficulty/inability to have children, as well as others.
5061022 tn?1363018223 I have recently removed myself from my fitness pal and tumblr because it is an ED breading ground! It is where I would go to get tips and encouragement. I am trying to get away from doing it as I have had it under control for the past year and it was recently triggered again in January. I have been dealing with it since the 8th grade and I am now a college junior....its a constant battle and I hate it....I am trying so hard right now to fight losing weight the right way....
762882 tn?1234493890 As you are well aware, it’s never as easy as telling someone to stop restricting, stop purging, eat three meals a day, etc. Bulimia is a complex disorder and must be treated from a genetic, psychological, relational, cultural and spiritual perspective. I would encourage you to seek medical and psychological help from eating disorder specialists. To learn more about anorexia and bulimia with treatment options, visit the bella vita website.
785277 tn?1244324809 m not going to be looking at any professional help anytime soon. Anyone have any tips on sticking to one routine? I know both anorexia and bulimia are bad independently, but having both of them together has got to be worse on the body, right?
1564404 tn?1295154236 Sometimes your body plateaus when its time to stop losing weight. I woudl also see someone like a therapist and find out what the back issue is that you have a problem with your body and food. Good Luck!
1379808 tn?1279327710 Hey Doctor! I need some real help ay!! I have OCD which I think have led to my terrible eating habits. I am concered about my weight I weigh 50Kg's and I am 157cms talk (I'm a 16 year old girl) so my BMI is like 20 or something. Anyways my mother has terrible eating habits she eats basically nothing and I have adapteded to this the only difference is I am replacing food with non-nutrious objects such as plastic, paper, cardboard ect.
Avatar f tn Maybe you should stop listening to other people. You BMI is 15.9 meaning you're severely underweight. I would start seeing someone about this because it's called anorexia and it can cause a lot of problems.
Avatar f tn I have never had anorexia but a good friend of mine did and she went through the same problem of becoming a binge eater after recovering from anorexia. One thing I want you to remember is that both anorexia and binge eating are eating disorders. One is not better then the other and both can take a toll on your health. Your weight seems to actually be pretty healthy for your height but if you are unhappy because your weight gain is not through healthy ways, I can understand your concern.
785277 tn?1244324809 There are other major health issues that need to be addressed as well. I suggest you post in the Anorexia/Bulimia/Binge Eating section in the Ask a Doctor forum to find out more. Sorry I don't particularly deal with it in terms of overall health.
918035 tn?1274644533 It sounds to me like you do still suffer from anorexia. As far as what to do...keep trying to eat, have you ever been to a doctor/theripist/treatment center..or had any kind of outside help for ED? Full recovery is possible, however most people withED need help to stop, because it is an addiction. Feel free to pm me anytime to talk.
Avatar n tn can you please give me some advice? is this common to switch from anorexia to binge eating?
Avatar f tn I used to be a very dedicated runner, but since I lost all control over my eating, I basically stopped running. I think the best thing to do is to turn to exercise..
Avatar f tn My Dietitian put a stop to that and set realistic eating goals that I felt comfortable obtaining. It was very gradual. I will give you this important piece of advice: get to the root of the eating disorder. Why do you feel the need to restrict your food? For me, I was teased in junior high for being fat and at the time, I had an emotionally abusive boyfriend who told me I was fat.
Avatar f tn why do girls with anorexia stop getting their periods ? what is the link to Kyphosis to anorexia ?
Avatar f tn Though technically, part of the clinical diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa is losing 15 percent or more of what your normal body weight should be, you do not need to be super thin in order to have an eating disorder. Most of what an eating disorder, such as Anorexia, consists of is the emotional/mental aspect.. being scared of gaining weight, thinking you're fat when you really are healthy, starving yourself or severely limiting food quantity or types of foods, etc.
Avatar f tn If you have eating behavior not clearly defined as anorexia or bulimia, its called Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified or EDNOS. I want to tell you that you are a very strong person to recognize this and that you want to change it. That is the first step. I'm not a professional, but I think you would benefit from talking to someone who can help you understand your habits and feelings of the loss of control.
Avatar n tn I am going through a recovering period from anorexia. I am currently talking to a psichologist, and im taking medication, which he prescribed me due to my depression. My feet edemas are very uncomfortable and I also suffer from bloating after eating. Id like to know anything that could help with my condition, especially any advice regarding my feet edemas and solutions to diminish them. thank you very much. Silvia.
Avatar f tn Anorexia is known to cause hair loss. Hands shaking may be due to purging. To be considered bulimia there needs to be bingeing episodes and compensatory behaviors, such as, vomiting, excessive exercise, laxative abuse, etc. The following is the DSM IV TR criteria for Bulimia Nervosa, purging and nonpurging type: Recurrent episodes of binge eating characterized by both: Eating, in a discrete period of time (e.g.
Avatar f tn I know it is not easy for someone who has a history with EDNOS and anorexia, but go back to the specialists, stop taking any laxatives, and start eating balanced again. You might think you ate good, but this could as well be the anorexia talking. If you had a fair share of veggies and fruits, as well as you drank enough, your bowels should have recovered from the abuse after 6 months or so. Good luck.
