Avatar f tn Now, I do not think your daughter has breast cancer, but her symptoms are sure troubling and could be from more serious underlying disease. Even the seizures could be symptomatic of other underlying disease. I am thinking what I would do in your situation and all I can think of is to call the pediatricians' office and ask them for an earlier appointment, or put you on the list in case they have a cancellation.
179856 tn?1333547362 Most people don't think of 'anorexia' as a serious disease, but prolonged anorexia (the most common being nervosa) can be life-threatening. Because it generally leads to severe malnutrition, the host of 'complications' anorexias present can be quite varied -- but prolonged deficiencies in necessary proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids can indeed result in almost anything from bone loss to anemia to organ failure.
918035 tn?1274644533 Yes, dear, I do think you are still suffering from anorexia, and I think you probably realize it yourself. Anorexia is a hard disease to recover from, but yes, it is definitely possible! I myself have 15 years recovery from an Eating Disorder; not Anorexia, but I have spoken with many people who have longterm recovery from that as well.

Avatar f tn I tend to be the same as leftcoastchick - doctor is the person you need, I know anorexia needs serious help and counselling but id also wonder if it is anorexia which has fairly specific symptoms and behaviours as opposed to not eating which is indeed possibly an attempt at suicide. Avatar n tn When you say that she displays many symptoms of anorexia (in spite of eating three meals/day), what do you mean? What are the symptoms you are noticing?
Avatar f tn abdominal distention, nausea, anorexia, or loss of appetite due to the presence of ascites(fluid in abdomen) and omental or bowel metastases; dyspnea(sob) is occasionally present due to a pleural effusion. Avatar f tn why do girls with anorexia stop getting their periods ? what is the link to Kyphosis to anorexia ?
Avatar m tn Jackie and Ree, thank you SO very much! Your comments are the very first I've ever read that have ever helped me connect the two. On one hand it's somewhat of a relief, on the other, still very upsetting. I think I will finally work up the courage to have a conversation with her family about my concern, and hopefully find out what is going on in terms of treatment. It's all so confusing. If I showed you a photo it would bring you to tears.
Avatar f tn t remember if any other symptoms existed at that time. I am wondering if I could have aquired HIV at the same time. I did not have intercourse while lesions were visibly present. The following symptoms started about 6,3, and 1 week after each encounter. I am trying to differentiate between real and possibly psycological symptoms. I've been under an extreme amount of stress and guilt for possibly ruining my life and that of my family and possibly infecting someone.

Avatar m tn Hi about three or so years ago I went through a long period of anorexia nervosa, I was checking labels, eating barely any fat foods, always feeling terrible if i aint something unhealthy, and on top of that running 10 miles and working out every day because I thought i was fat. Once then period ended, I immediately began to binge eat at every meal, and would get incredibly bloated and distended (pregnant).
2103698 tn?1333690107 After nearly everything I eat or drink, except for water, I get a terrible vomiting feeling, and dizzy, but never vomit, pass out, etc. I am a 12 year old girl who has had symptoms of depression before, and I don't know if the psychological problems in the past link to my problem with food now. While I wish to eat, and try not to avoid eating, it still hurts. Help?
Avatar f tn Yes, that is what it is. You are showing anorexic symptoms and it will only get worse. Talk to a counselor at school, your doctor, or another trusted adult and have them refer you to a therapist experienced with eating disorders. Your ED is related to how you feel about yourself and you need help working through both so you can go on to live a good life. Please do it soon.
639751 tn?1223570892 Anorexia is a disease with trauma, severe anxiety, body dysmorphic disorder, extreme fear, self loathing, and irrational behaviors. When you have anorexia, you are both terrifyed of, and obsessed with food. I used to cook so much for my boyfriend, his friends, my family, etc. I would look online at recipes. If I was hungry, I would avoid any place with food. Anorexia made me miss my 8th grade year, and much of Highschool.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your response. It was helpful to guide me toward keeping my dog hydrated while I waited for her symptoms to become clear. Yesterday, we went to a specialist and she was diagnosed with Addison's Disease--a treatable disease, which is characterized by Hypoadrenocorticism.
Avatar f tn Yes you can have stomach pain along with many other symptoms. Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa are actually two different things.. Anorexia is simply not eating, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't WANT to eat, just a lack of eating for whatever reason. Anorexia Nervosa (what people are usually talking about when they use the term Anorexia) is when you don't eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight.
