918035 tn?1274644533 I myself have 15 years recovery from an Eating Disorder; not Anorexia, but I have spoken with many people who have longterm recovery from that as well. Over time, your symptoms will get less and less frequent and when you are in recovery if something upsets you you will think about restricting, but will have other tools to handle your feelings. I think it is very much important for you to receive treatment for your Anorexia because it is very very hard to do it on your own.
Avatar f tn If there is more hair loss than this, the first cause we look at is diet. It has been long known that anorexia causes hair loss. Your 400 calories on alternate days is flirting with an anorexia-like diet and is most likely stressing your body. Rather than cut your long locks, look to have a balanced diet each and every day. Good luck.

Avatar f tn Anorexia is known to cause hair loss. Hands shaking may be due to purging. To be considered bulimia there needs to be bingeing episodes and compensatory behaviors, such as, vomiting, excessive exercise, laxative abuse, etc. The following is the DSM IV TR criteria for Bulimia Nervosa, purging and nonpurging type: Recurrent episodes of binge eating characterized by both: Eating, in a discrete period of time (e.g.
Avatar n tn A year and 1/2 of poor eating habits and large weight loss could definitely cause hair loss. Hair loss can be due to low protein. Even though you have been trying to improve your eating habits for 6 months, a lot of damage has already been done and how you're eating now may not be targeting what your body needs. Have you had recent blood panels to determine any nutritional deficients? Have you seen a registered dietitian to direct you in your nutritional needs?
179856 tn?1333547362 t know anything about Portia. I had no idea she suffered from anorexia nervosa. I assumed she had anorexia - eating disorder from any cause - and that is why I assumed the anorexia resulted from her cirrhosis. Now, that I have read the gossip/Oprah stuff I lean more towards Willy's opinion.
Avatar m tn Hello. I'm new and terrified for a friend who says she's been diagnosed with Lyme disease. At first, I had no reason to believe otherwise. However, I'm not sure now. She has lost an extreme amount of weight. A couple of years ago when this all began, she was losing weight quickly and couldn't eat anything unless it was pureed. Without going into all the details, she presented all the signs of anorexia and still does.
Avatar m tn I am 22 years old! I am losing hair to the extreme. I can wash or brush my hair and I will pull handfulls of hair out of my head! This is concerning me. I need some help!!
Avatar f tn There is little information available about hair loss during pregnancy, but one possibility is that dry hair may become drier as a result of high levels of progesterone, the female hormone produced in the ovaries. Progesterone works with oestrogen to regulate the reproductive cycle. If this is the case, your hair will be more prone to crack and break, especially in later pregnancy. As it breaks off near the roots it may appear to be hair loss, although it actually isn't.
1123555 tn?1259561262 Hello I am going on my 12th week of treatment. I've had one migraine and my head hurts often as well. I've never in my life had a migraine until I started treatment. As Marcia mentioned...water, water, water! My doctor tells me to drink AT LEAST one gallon of water PER DAY. I do notice that on days when I don't drink the gallon that I feel worse...nausea and head aches. I take naproxem sodium for pain killers and then I rest. No noise and no bright lights.
2215229 tn?1339342648 s because of past trauma or self loathing and depression and you need to deal with that before even thinking of recovery. Recovery is impossible without tackling why you had the ED in the first place, what you were trying to use it to.cope with. Therapy. Very important.
918035 tn?1274644533 You have many symptoms of anorexia. Anorexia is not about the food, it's about underlying issues that causes a person to go away from food. I will advise you to speak to an adult. Hopefully, you could talk to your mom or dad. You need to get some professional help and support. You need to see a medical doctor just to check on your overall medical condition and growth.
766752 tn?1234946743 Hi there, Unfortunately, in recovery from anorexia it's not really uncommon to have these feelings, and physical symptoms. I know it makes it much, much harder, but it's just part of it. When one's body has been starved for so long, it has to "readjust" once it starts getting food again. It WILL pass though and when your body gets used to the idea of getting food, and learns to trust you again, this will not continue.
10947 tn?1281404252 As for as what to look for if she is struggling with it again....Of course, with anorexia, weight loss is a noticeable sign. But that's not necessarily something that will happen with all eating disorders. It's good that she seems happy though. People struggling with eating disorders aren't truly happy if they're in a bad place with it. Would you be able to tell if she was faking it or putting on a front?
Avatar f tn i have been suffering from Anorexia for five years, and the last two of those years developed bulimia as welll. im 23 years old. after 5 years, i broke down and asked my mom for help, becasue my hair is falling out and my weight has consumed everry part of my life, I cant be happy or function if my bodies not tiny and thin.
Avatar n tn these days everyone says i'm much thinner and prettier. i guess(i never go to measure it rather accurately) i may have lost 10kg+ in less than 4 months. yet some people tell me they feel i'm now spiritless and my eyes lose focus. i'm rather worried abt it actually. i mean, according to observation, my physical health indeed is affected (my hair is dropping and it's getting incredibly thinner), so will it affect my mental health also?
Avatar f tn You do have an eating disorder. Well you have all the symptoms of one. Please seek help, because this can be very dangerous. If u are eating less than 1200 cals a day and excersising, your body will slowly shut down without energy to support it. There are support groups out there that can help you cope. Also there are healthier ways to stay thin without starving yourself. I know from previous experience.
