anorexia

Avatar f tn However, in my 28 year of clinical experience, I understand it as a subset of Anorexia Nervosa. This is my professional opinion. The underlying dynamics are quite similar to what we have seen in anorexia for years. It's only in the recent years as our society has focused on pure, organic, and raw foods has this new obessive compulsive form of restriction emerged and is has now been coined orthorexia.
Avatar f tn Yes you can have stomach pain along with many other symptoms. Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa are actually two different things.. Anorexia is simply not eating, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't WANT to eat, just a lack of eating for whatever reason. Anorexia Nervosa (what people are usually talking about when they use the term Anorexia) is when you don't eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight.

She is only 5 feet tall, 17 years old and wieghs only 69 pounds. She was never really fat, but that is how she sees herself because of a disorder called body dysmorphia. Avatar f tn t know how to get her to accept that she has a serious condition and to accept the appropriate treatment. Can somebody who has previously been in my situation give me some advice? Avatar m tn Is she scared to gain weight? Is she obsessive about her body? If so, these are signs of anorexia nervosa. Sometimes when someone doesn't eat for a while the stomach gets smaller and a person can feel full faster. This can happen even for a person who does not show signs of or have an eating disorder. Is the reason she hasn't been eating much lately because she feels sick, or does she feel sick because she hasn't been eating much lately?
