Avatar f tn actually OSFED (otherwise specified feeding and eating disorder) is only a temporary diagnosis. how you feel about your body is what gives you the disorder, the behaviors the define which kind. there are two types of anorexia, restrictive and binging/purging (which doesn't always include binging). it sounds like you have anorexia nervosa b/p, but i am not a doctor and you should really see one so you can get better.
Avatar n tn t believe that they actually have one. Not eating and throwing up sounds like the purging type of anorexia nervosa. Only 69 pounds, as ur friend said, would definitely characterize u in that area.
Avatar f tn However, in my 28 year of clinical experience, I understand it as a subset of Anorexia Nervosa. This is my professional opinion. The underlying dynamics are quite similar to what we have seen in anorexia for years. It's only in the recent years as our society has focused on pure, organic, and raw foods has this new obessive compulsive form of restriction emerged and is has now been coined orthorexia.
179856 tn?1333547362 t know anything about Portia. I had no idea she suffered from anorexia nervosa. I assumed she had anorexia - eating disorder from any cause - and that is why I assumed the anorexia resulted from her cirrhosis. Now, that I have read the gossip/Oprah stuff I lean more towards Willy's opinion.
Avatar f tn Recently i suffered from anorexia nervosa with then developed into me binge eating which then ended in bulimia nervosa. I am aware of what is happening to me, but as it has happened in a short space of time (2years) i feel a little lost. I live in the UK and it is extremly hard to get help as docotors do not see me as underweight. But everyone knows that there is something wrong.
Avatar f tn I'm 17, somewhere around 115 pounds maybe (my scale at home is broken and that's just what I weighed when I went to the doctor three months ago) and I've been restricting for 2 1/2 years. The past several months, I've been able to restrict and fast more and have probably lost more weight, but I'm still not thin enough to fit the weight criteria for anorexia nervosa or even be considered underweight.

Avatar m tn Is she scared to gain weight? Is she obsessive about her body? If so, these are signs of anorexia nervosa. Sometimes when someone doesn't eat for a while the stomach gets smaller and a person can feel full faster. This can happen even for a person who does not show signs of or have an eating disorder. Is the reason she hasn't been eating much lately because she feels sick, or does she feel sick because she hasn't been eating much lately?
Avatar f tn Dear littleem, Do not blame yourself for your PCOS. Research shows that females diagnosed with anorexia nervosa had their polycystic ovary disease symptoms prior to weight loss. PCOS occurs in 10% of females during reproductive age. The cause is still unknown. For more information about anorexia, visit the bella vita website. Dr.
Avatar f tn Worried878, I am so sad to read about your neighbor. I am very glad that I am not anorexic. Thankfully, people who have bulimia don't generally have those types of symptoms...unless it's anorexia nervosa--which tends to have both anorexia and bulimia combined w/ excessive excercise. I hate to sound like an addict--but I am definitely not that bad off. I am at a healthy weight for my size. My blood work has been checked...

Avatar n tn I have a friend right now that is suffering from Anorexia Nervosa. She is at the state where she is in need of immediate medical attention, and i am fighting for that right now. She is only 5 feet tall, 17 years old and wieghs only 69 pounds. She was never really fat, but that is how she sees herself because of a disorder called body dysmorphia. I hope I at least helped a little with your question.
Avatar f tn People with eating disorders often fool everyone around them, and even themselves, about their problem. The symptoms of an ED like anorexia nervosa do not necessarily include constantly weighing oneself. And some people with EDs will play along with others when it comes to talking about their appearance. A loss of 25 lbs. in two months is a lot of weight. So the next step would be to have your daughter see an eating disorder specialist if she hasn't already.
Avatar f tn I have been working on recovering from bulimia/anorexia, which I've suffered from for 15 years, and I have been in numerous treatments both in and out patient. I no longer suffer with anorexia but still have issues with bulimia but have improved immensely in many ways. However, I do still binge/purge once a day but do not allow myself to do it more than that on any day.
