I forgot to say I'm sorry about your miscarriages; I know how painful those can be! Also, the other thing an RE can do for you is monitor your progesterone if you do conceive and give you precription progesterone if it's low (as it often is in women over 40). Best wishes to you!

Hi...I'm 42 and will be 43 in June. I think the dismal things you've read are fairly accurate when you are over 40 and trying to get pregnant. I am basing this on my personal experience. I can get pregnant pretty easily but because my eggs are so "old", I keep miscarrying. NOt to mention the risk for downs syndrome is very high like 1 in 60 for my age. I've gotten pregnant 5 times and each and everyone was a miscarriage...most like because of my age.

From the reading I've done, it seems like the IVF success rate for women over 40 is low. I just finished Lupron and I'm starting the stimulation phase. Can anyone over 40 share some success with IVF?

I'm still trying and will be 41 in a month. I've heard alot of wonderful stories about women over 40 have perfectly healthy pregnancies both on here and people I've met. There can be complications at any age. At 32 I had gestational diabetes with my DD but still had a normal healthy pregnancy otherwise, it was actually quite a wonderful time. I felt really good. I think they just have to give you those "warnings".

Oh my gosh, so sorry for your question going unanswered for so long. This is very important. It's obviously time to really get serious about the anorexia. It's a difficult diagnosis in general. It can be difficult to get proper nutrition when pregnant and having an eating disorder and so babies can then have a low birth weight. Trying to get the right number of calories as well as staying hydrating and not over exercising will be your challenge and one to take seriously.

I'm a 27-year-old female and I "recovered" from severe anorexia after in-patient treatment in 2005. I'm 5'3" tall and weighed in the low 70s before treatment. After treatment, I was eating about 1850 calories a day and weighed just under 100 pounds (still low, I know). I continued eating about that much and exercised a bit more (but not much), and by spring 2006, my weight had dropped for some unknown reason to about 83 pounds. I was secretly pleased but disturbed.

Im 43 ive struggled with anorexia/bulimia since i was 18. My weight has always been arund 100. I still restrict eating only one meal a day yet now that im in my 43 its harder to lose. Someone once told me once u hit 40's its impossible to manage ur weight. Is this true? Thank you guys for your responses. I don't feel so alone now. I know a lot of women are having babies in their 40's, but most are first babies that chose to have them later. It is starting all over for sure. I am getting more excited each day. Thank God I have a supportive husband. Jediprincess, we are almost in the same boat! Keep in touch!

I am 44 and have had 3 miscarriages after getting pregnant naturally those 3 times in the last 7 months. All my tests for women with recurring miscarriages are good. Has anyone over 40 been successful after IVF with PGD?

I am anorexic and I weigh 40 kegs and I’m concerned I have heart failure - I have been having shortness of breath when lying down and things like that. However I’ve been to the hospital and had a chest X-ray an ecg and the doctor said my lungs are clear so I’m not sure what this is. Please help ? Thanks.

t happen over night and doing it right will keep it off longer... With anorexia the second you start to eat your body holds in everything including the fat because it knows you will starve it again. Also when you stop eating your body will start to eat itself (including your muscles). You can do this hun... keep it up and persevere.

Hi I'm 31 weeks pregnant and sex is a swear word in my house! My Stepdad is always caling me ugly .. And when i look in the mirror i believe it sometimes, all my friends say i'm beautiful. The problem is the voice in your head. The second problem is that you listen to the voice in your head which is telling you all the wrong things. You need to sort this out with a profesional..there are many trained to deal with eating disorders with teenagers...your parents or your doctor can help you find the right person. This can be a very serious health risk...see a professional as soon as possible.

Deb I just had a talk with a women in Minnesota. She is a member on the Menopause side. I just met her recently. She said there are two different estrogens in our bodies. As we age the bad one Estrodron ( spelling? ) is increased and can store the good one Estrodial (sp) She says when the good one isn't released and the bad one is bigger then we will gain weight too. Store cortisol - even though our adrenals are good and in check.
