anorexia

Avatar f tn I was just wondering what some of the causes were and if you perhaps were told of risk factors that could lead to not carrying to full term. I am sorry for your loss if you have experienced it, I know very well what a shock and emptiness it can leave and it changes you forever. Hope you can give advice so many women can be more informed.
Avatar n tn Dear ny77, Your inconsistent eating triggered by anxiety and stress can be one cause that precipitates anorexia. Other possible causes could be a loss of a loved one relationally or by death, physical illness, life transition (e.g., going away to college), sport involvement which focuses on physical appearance or emotional, physical or sexual abuse. Avatar f tn Yes you can have stomach pain along with many other symptoms. Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa are actually two different things.. Anorexia is simply not eating, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't WANT to eat, just a lack of eating for whatever reason. Anorexia Nervosa (what people are usually talking about when they use the term Anorexia) is when you don't eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight.
Avatar f tn (Even hyperventilating---breathing too fast and/or too deeply while learning the breathing techniques could affect heart rate/pulse.) You are young with few risk factors for dysrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) other that the anorexia which can cause a loss of potassium or imbalance of other minerals and blood chemicals leading to dysrhythmias. You're getting a handle on that, though, so the heart rate was likely not caused by that.
Avatar f tn I read a comment that said there are risk factors that may play a role in one having MS and that a prior infectious trigger is one. I've ALWAYS been a magnet for UNUSAL diseases. scarlet fever, immuno-thrombocytopenia , chicken pox (2x). Could any of these have led to RRMS? Thanks for any light on this.
Avatar n tn the chance your partner had HIV and the statistical likelihood of transmission based on the details of the sexual exposure. It is estimated that about 1% of the Dominican Republic population is HIV positive, which is substantially higher than in the US as a whole, but not much different than among African Americans in the US. The overall HIV/AIDS rate in DR is not as high as in the Bahamas or Haiti, and not nearly as high as in sub-Saharan Africa.
Avatar f tn There are many causes for heart disease. There is a hereditary component, but many risk factors can be managed to reduce the risk such as proper diet, exercise, not smoking, moderate lifestyle, etc. What may be an issue with you as related to a heart risk could be your response to stressful situations that cause anxiety, etc. You are seeing a doctor and being treated so that may bode well for a reduction of any associated heart risk. Thanks for sharing, and take care.

Again, my doc knows this and pushed this med on me b/c of severe depression due to chronic pain and going off my pain meds (my choice). Has anyone heard of this, or heard of anyone having seizures from this history? I also take Klonopin 2mgs a day, sleeping meds, blood pressure meds, muscle relaxers etc. Doc knows all of this.
