Anorexia and yellow skin

Common Questions and Answers about Anorexia and yellow skin

anorexia

Avatar f tn Carotenemia is a common finding in children, mainly due to the excessive intake of carrots, but it can also be associated with the ingestion of many other yellow and green vegetables and citrus fruits. Carotene is a lipochrome that normally adds yellow color to the skin. With elevated blood levels of carotene, the prominence of this yellowing is increased. Carotenemia may be particularly evident when the stratum corneum is thickened or when the subcutaneous fat is strongly represented.
179856 tn?1333547362 I was just reading about Portia DeRossi's anorexia and it says when she was down to 82 pounds she "was told she was suffering from a handful of serious conditions: osteoporosis, organ failure, cirrhosis of the liver and the auto-immune disease lupus." how would anorexia cause cirrhosis does anybody know? I'm just curious because I never heard of that before and was wondering how it was related.
1475974 tn?1306881321 Old stand by is chicken (no skin) and rice, you can add a little broth, given in small amounts a few times a day. You might try some canned green tripe. It is nutritious and can usually be found in some pet stores now. Hope she is feeling better soon.
Avatar f tn That how my mom found oumonths I was pregnant because my skin was yellow and I looked sick. Nothing was wrong with me tho I was just a little sick and light headed from nausea..
Avatar n tn I am 40 week's 4 days and this morning I have noticed my neck chest and arms have a yellow colouring to them have any other mums had this habit worried now thanks
Avatar m tn Good afternoon. Im just curious at my skin because it is still in color yellow, even though that I already expose at this virus for a long period of time. But my eyes is in normal color. Please help. Godbless.
Avatar n tn I had a 3 month long stretch of *severe* insomnia when I was 16. My skin and my face took on a very sickly/anemic/ugly/unsavory look that everyone from my girlfriend to my grandparents could agree was a major change for the worse (my girlfriend dumped me quick). My life's been really bad since this happened. It's been over 10 years now and I never regained my former good looks. I've read somewhere that a similar thing occurs to meth addicts.
Avatar n tn And I only found this out becuase I went to the ER and one reason I went the ER was because I was yellow. My eyes and skin were yellow. I was acute and cleared on my own. If you are acute they say those that go as far to show jaundice druing the acute phase have a better chance at clearing on their own.

Avatar m tn Hi and welcome, Unfortunately eating disorders such as anorexia effects the entire body, including the brain and nervous systems. What you are experiencing could be due to your anorexia, as it can cause peripheral neuropathy, vitamin B12 deficientcy etc so it would be worth discussing this with your doctor. Cheers..........
Avatar f tn Hey and yes, I have seen not only my gastro doc who tells me I have ulcers and the rest is just stress related, my regular doctor is the one more concerned due to testing that they have found my potassium levels way off, my ketones(can't spell) off, and that anemia and a slight yellow tinge to my skin color. That and the fact that I'm no longer losing "good" fat but rather my body seems to be feeding on itselft at this point..
Avatar f tn I also have a yellowish tint to my skin which also varies in intensity, and my tongue has a yellow coating on it most of the time when I go to brush my teeth. I have also had a chronic feeling of pressure in my right ear for almost a year. It varies from feeling like pressure to feeling like pain. Upon the onset of this problem, I was told there was a build up of fluid on the tympanic membrane and was prescribed a nasal spray and antibiotics.
Avatar f tn Yes you can have stomach pain along with many other symptoms. Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa are actually two different things.. Anorexia is simply not eating, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't WANT to eat, just a lack of eating for whatever reason. Anorexia Nervosa (what people are usually talking about when they use the term Anorexia) is when you don't eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight.
Avatar f tn I am currently medically stable but have been struggling for three years with hypothyroid symptoms( constant fatigue, brain fog, cold hands, slow motor skill, anxiety and depression worse, and a couple other symptoms) despite my bmi being normal, and proper nutrition. I am currently on thyroid meds but the only result is that my tsh is very low. Other wise I am still feeling the same and some symptoms are worse.
Avatar m tn know what to do about him, because he has like, no muscle mass left on him! He says he is experiencing aches and pains all over, and he is blind in hsi left eye, and has had surgery to move the muscle so that his eye looks the right way, because it crossed inward before. But I have heard this happens to other people as well. It is dizziness/vision blacking out, and last time the searing pain brought him to his knees. And he said last time that the pain was in his right eye.
701581 tn?1279136038 m glad you have gotten diagnosed- hopefully properly this time! Now anorexia is different from anorexia nervosa. The first simply means a poor/lack of appetite, whereas the second is an eating disorder. Do you have a problem with lack of appetite? How did they figure out you had chronic fatigue immune dysfunction? Did you have borderline auto-immune blood testing, as to why the question about lupus or not?
Avatar n tn i have the same thing, its a condition with the pigment in your skin... its harmless and basically jst makes your skin blotchy... you can go to your pediatrician and get pills, i think its 2 pills a day for 3 weeks or something like that. its supposed to blend your pigment back to normal. i never finised taking the pills cuz it doesnt bother me all that much.
Avatar n tn Hi iam a female of 24yrs i feel heaviness and dizziness whenever i move my head in space (side to side) i dont whats the problem is the problem is with my vertebral artery or is it anorexia. Pl. guide me as soon as possible.
785277 tn?1244324809 I can only speak for myself. I had beautiful teeth when I was a teenager. Now from my twenties on....43, Infections!!!!I have had all my teeth root canaled, bonded, pulled, bridged, and now finally all pulled and I'm working on implants. Its not worth all the pain and suffering, I will tell you that right now. I have spent over 35,000 on my teeth over the years. Infections in the mouth can lead to death...the infection can go straight to your heart or brain.
Avatar n tn If your skin overall isn't more yellowish, and the whites of your eyes are still white (not yellow) then you might be looking at a case of a fungal infection rather than jaundice. Poor nutrition is also a possibility.
Avatar n tn HYPOTHALAMIC-PITUITARY-THYROID AXIS Individuals with AN often exhibit clinical features of hypothyroidism such as bradycardia, hypothermia, hypotension, dry skin, and reduced metabolic rate. Biochemically, anorexic patients have a constellation of thyroid hormone abnormalities similar to sick euthyroid syndrome with notably low T3 levels and low to normal T4 levels due to decreased peripheral conversion (21).
