anorexia

179856 tn?1333547362 Wow I really had no idea you could have liver failure and kidney failure and all that........I never really thought about it and now it makes more sense why karen Carpenter died from it.
Avatar f tn , then go tell your doctor you have anorexia nervosa and he will hospitalize you before you go into organ failure. Maybe they can help you.
Avatar f tn It begins to become a habit and soon, when you are recovering from anorexia and bulimia (if you started throwing up) you would hardly be able to keep your food down at every meal. At 90 pounds, you are close to dying. If you start throwing up you can rupture your esophagus and possibly an organ, bleeding to death internally. It sounds like your combined anorexia and self harm is a form of seeking control. Although I can always be wrong, it's likely a main cause.
Avatar f tn I would advise exactly the same thing. You must take her to the vet immediately. Could she have eaten any toxic plants out there? Puppies chew on lots of things, and it's possible what appears to be a harmless garden plant could have affected her if she'd eaten it. There was a long list of plants toxic for dogs online which I found once but did not keep. I'll try and find it again and post back. In the meantime -get her to the vet quickly.
Avatar m tn I am anorexic and I weigh 40 kegs and I’m concerned I have heart failure - I have been having shortness of breath when lying down and things like that. However I’ve been to the hospital and had a chest X-ray an ecg and the doctor said my lungs are clear so I’m not sure what this is. Please help ? Thanks.
Avatar n tn These tiny lumps can grow and clump together, making many large and small groups of lumps which can affect how the organ works. It can also cause scar tissue and permanent organ damage. In the lungs, sarcoidosis can cause trouble breathing, scar formation and in some cases, respiratory failure. And sarcoidosis is permanent. If the amount of sarcoidosis you have is small, you have to consider that the interferon you're taking for the Hep C can make it worse.
Avatar f tn Hi, Any contrast dye used for seeing the functioning of any organ puts mainly one organ at risk and that is kidney as the contrast has to excrete through the kidneys. Hence, before doing any test where a contrast is used the kidney functions are tested. If the kidneys are not functioning properly or there’s an evidence of dehydration or there’s a slightest suspicion that the kidneys could be damaged, then the test using the contrast is not used. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
5221069 tn?1366618397 You have made a lot of assumptions here, Billie37. I don't have weight issues any longer, I got myself healthy so that I could have children. Also, not everyone just get pregnant once they sort out their weight issues - sometimes premature ovarian failure can occur with a long term eating disorder, in which case, it doesn't matter how healthy you become or how much weight you gain, you won't ovulate for the rest of your life. I said i DID have anorexia and that I was healthy today.
554703 tn?1227497870 I never had an eating disorder per say, but years ago during a hard time with my Ex-husband, I didn't eat much and when I did, I only ate things like rice and ham. I lost 39 pounds in 5 weeks and woke up one morning with my heart beating all over the place and was rushed to the ER. Long story short, I was told I was close to joining Karen Carpenter. Karen died from "heartbeat irregularities brought on by chemical (electrolyte) imbalances associated with anorexia nervosa.
Avatar f tn He was then rushed to er where they found his organ were shutting down, He was hospitalized for a month for liver and kidney failure. After being released on strike orders and visits 2-3 times a week for dialysis that last almost a month. Know he is having blackouts and dizzy spells. Is this normal or is something wrong to the point he needs to return to the hospital. when he blackouts he remembers nothing and recently hurt others please help me figure this out.
Avatar f tn At your age. And kind of organ failure is rare lol dont google its evil! All our worst enemy. You could possibly have a urine infection though. Get a urine sample to your doctor and have it tested. A short course of antibiotics fixes this if thats the case :D Drink plenty of water.

Avatar f tn When I was young I had anorexia and lost my periods completely, along with any sexual desires. When I finally came to my senses and told myself to have faith in my body to find a good weight and eat when hungry I slowly came back to a life. I then got married and had children and only then discovered how lucky I was as many anorexics can no longer have children. You may need to go and talk to a psychologist who will help you deal with the reason for your anorexia.
Avatar n tn My bet is that this is not because of premature menopause, since the chances of premature ovarian failure in a 30 year old are only 1/1000 overall, and premature ovarian failure accounts for only 10% of situations when women do not have periods. With your history of anorexia, you may still have a low percent body fat and when that occurs (and even when not) the anorexia may have suppressed the signals from your hypothalamus (the part of the brain that controls ovulation).
Avatar m tn Has your mother been checked for kidney failure? Nausea and vomitting is a symptom of the kidneys shutting down. I understand that CHF can be caused by kidney failure also, as the kidney and heart work very closely together. I'm am not a doctor, but I have experienced CHF and am at statge 5 kidney failure, also known as End Stage Renal Disease. I have been through the nausea and vomitting, and severe swelling from the CHF, and now I do dialysis 6 days a week.
Avatar m tn If your doctor knows, s/he can keep a better eye on your overall health and hopefully catch any organ failure before it goes too far.
1564404 tn?1295154236 MY advice is to not restrict yoursefl to 300 cal a day or anything under1200-1500. Your body will go into starvation mode and retain more water and food and in the long run it will make you fatter and unhealthy. Try to get on a healthy exercise and diet plan. Sometimes your body plateaus when its time to stop losing weight. I woudl also see someone like a therapist and find out what the back issue is that you have a problem with your body and food. Good Luck!
Avatar n tn The embolus blocks the flow of blood in small vessels and causes thrombosis, ischemia, infarction, or stasis in the affected area/organ and then systemically, resulting in multiple organ failure and disseminated intravascular coagulation.
4173379 tn?1355356551 My husband has both, but also has fatty liver and other organ damage from the iron overloaded onto pancreas and gallbladder and joint damage with painful arthritis. He as stage 2 peri-portal fibrosis which is progressing, as of last biopsy. This was missed in our case for over 10 years, and we lost precious time.
Avatar f tn I had varices and had to have blood transfusion and was going into organ failure (kidney) but some miracle pulled me through. but i have heard about hep c quite a lot lately and wasn't sure if it was connected.
Avatar f tn It is used to prevent organ rejection following organ transplantation and to treat a vast array of autoimmune diseases It may be responsible for the immunosuppressive state and hence low WBC count. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps.
