Common Questions and Answers about Ankle foot injuries running

Avatar m tn I am 34 year old female with chronic bilateral ankle pain. The pain in my right foot is terrible..my ankle aches all the time, my left foot is bearable. I can't wear shoes other than sneakers, and even wearing sneakers my foot aches. I was diagnosed with sinus tarsi syndrome. Originally in May 2015, I had grade 2 ankle sprain of ATFL ligament and bone edema in calcaneus...this was after completing exercise program T25 and running.
Avatar m tn Exactly 2 weeks ago, I sprained my left ankle (rolled, stepped on someone's foot) during basketball. It was immediately iced and wrapped in an ankle brace. There was no bruising the next day and I could walk on it with a limp the day after that. I have been rehabbing it in the last week and I could jog and even sprint forward. However, there is some pain in lateral movement and pain at the bottom of my foot when i cut (in basketball).
Avatar f tn I have pretty severe throbbing and this morning is difficult to put pressure on my foot. The pain is not in my ankle bone...it feels as though my skin is going to pop open from the swelling. The swelling has come down quite a bit but there is still major swelling. Today do I continue with ice packs and then switch to heat? Does this sound like this injury could be more than just a major knot/bruise combo? Trying to figure out if doctor's visit is necessary. Thanks!
Avatar n tn He said that was probably something I was born with. He said he did not know what was wrong with my foot and sent me to see a foot and ankle specialist. They ordered an ultrasound to rule out blood clots and there were not any. Now the foot and ankle specialist does not know what is wrong with my foot. I am not able to walk much on my foot and I can not put my toes to the floor. When I do walk on it, I have to walk on the side of my foot because the pain is so bad.
Avatar f tn Two days ago, massive swelling has appeared on that same leg around my ankle along with very dark bruises tinged with red. The bruising over the last couple of days has been spreading completely around my ankle and into my foot. It's getting more and more painful and swollen and is hurting me to walk or move it. There was no other injury after my initial fall whatsoever. My question is, could this be related to my fall? Should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn I am getting E-stim every day. I have had ankle injuries before, and this one just seems to take much much longer to heal. I am more intrigued by the nerve thing because its different than any type of injury I've had. I don't know whether it can be correlated to the sprain, or if it something separate. Also, for something like this, what would the best remedy be?
Avatar m tn In the last 2-3 years have acquired severe pain in ankle and foot! I get a burning pain in center of foot and at the ball behind big toe it stays sore to the touch.. .. Any recommendations!???
3026831 tn?1340069065 I woke up a couple months ago and i had ankle/foot pain in my left foot. My whole foot will get swolen, on my ankle it will get kind of greenish like a bruise.
Avatar f tn I'm pretty sure it isn't broken but then I've never broken a bone before so I have no idea. I was in a shop and one of the clothing rails dropped a short distance (probably from my knee height) onto my foot. It really hurt and throbbed for a while. But it's still hurting almost 2 weeks later and the bruise only just seems to be coming out! Is that normal?
Avatar f tn Recently my ankle has swelled up again (no re-injury) and I have sharp pains across the top of my ankle when I flex my foot towards my body. I can walk on it with some pain and the swelling goes down at night or when elevated. X-rays show no break in the tib or fib... Should I treat it as a sprain and do I need to stay off of it? Possible injuries? - Talus dome fracture? - Cartilage damage?
Avatar f tn The pain is the symptom you perceive and it is due to the packing of many muscles and tendons on the foot and also the blood vessels and nerves which supply it. You bear the weight of your whole body on the foot so pain is perceived more with ankle injuries. Take care!
Avatar f tn My husband had ankle surgery on Dec. 4th. He had two procedures done including graphing/sealing a hole in his ankle bone and ligament tightening. Sorry, I cannot remember the medical terminology for the first procedure. He is non-weight bearing on crutches until at least Feb. 1, at his next appt. and doctor says it will probably be a cane after that? Not sure how he can go straight to a cane, where he will have to walk on his foot, when he has not been allowed to put any weight on it yet.
Avatar n tn Hi, It is quite possible that you just suffered from ankle sprain and not ankle fracture. Ankle fracture will not heal in 7 hrs and without an X ray it is difficult to tell if the ankle was really fractured or not.
Avatar f tn I fell in my house 2 weeks ago, sprained my ankle and my ankle and foot are still swollen and painfull,is this usual? I go to South Africa in 5 weeks so hope to be completely recoved for my holiday. Anyone help?
Avatar n tn Then I took a step and it happened again. Then my ankle swelled... over night the swelling went down. I sprained my ankle really bad about 5 years ago, but not recently. I play soccer about once a week. Help what could this be?
Avatar f tn But I noticed that when I did any type of ankle exercise, the ankle cracked A LOT. If I did the same exercise on my right ankle, it hardly, if ever, cracked. And a lot of times I got a feeling in my ankle like when you need to crack your knuckles and rolling the ankle around will relieve it. But no pain.
Avatar m tn I also broke my ankle and had a screw put in. 4 weeks ago. I also have crush injuries with multiple fractures (whtever that means) in the left foot and some crush injury to the right foot. I have nerve damage in both feet. I sympathize with your frustration! I keep asking when I can walk again and what else can be done. I was told my pain could last for a couple years and mother nature is the only healing treatment available. Nothing else can be done.
155639 tn?1251738603 At times during intense speed work and training it was difficult to walk up and down stairs. After years of treatments by foot and ankle specialists, daily stretching, physical therapy, (you name it), etc. a chiropractor suggested oxygen treatments. I was skeptical, I tried it, and in two weeks the pain was gone, and I continue to be pain free for this particular running related condition. I was so convinced I went out a purchased my own oxygen machine.
Avatar m tn Tried some slow pace walking today on the treadmill and the outside of my ankle /bottom heel area of my foot started tingling. Wondering if this is normal for a sprain. I tried looking for enough but could not find munch on outside of the ankle tingling all was about the inside of the ankle.

Avatar n tn fix ur inverted feet, its kinda hard but it can be done find a thera band (aka body band) and wrap it around ur foot and pull it tight across ur body and wing ur foot(opposite of inverting it) do tthat every day and it should help. its starting to help me and im gkad i do it. finally, take at least two weeks off from any activities that put strain ur ankle. it absolutely killed me having to sit and watch dance class, but if i didnt do it i could b in the emergency room right now.
Avatar n tn crying in pain. My toes feel like someone is running a knife over the top of them cutting them. The sides of my ankle feel like a dagger being shoved in and turned sideways. If I try to put weight on my foot, it feels like what ever is in there is making hamburger out of what meat I have left. You can see my screws almost popping out of my skin. The burning and stinging is HORRIBLE...I can't take much more. I am a nervouse wreck, depressed, can't stop crying. The last trip to my Dr.
Avatar n tn the best person to see is a Podiatrists for foot/ankle pain. bad sprains can tear cartilage which make very painful. i've had my ankle scoped 3 times and a couple other major surgeries on the ankle. make an appt with a Podiatrists and ask him to have a MRI taken.
Avatar f tn I cant move my toes (apart from the one next to my big toe, which occasionally wiggles), and i cant rotate my ankle. i cant push my foot down or raise it. i have had an mri scan on my ankle which has come back ok. i can be sat normally and just lean to the side and causes pain. Just above my heel constantly hurts.
Avatar f tn I got a tetanus shot and the doctor looked over my leg and foot and no suspected serious injury. However, my inner ankle ( where that bone sticks out and the large vein run down to the foot) started to hurt and it bruised and seems like it is not really getting better as I'd like. Is that normal being that I am very active and walking around - has anyone experience very slow recovery?
