Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram how long

angiogram

Avatar n tn He seemed concerned but I have had no discomfort, chest pain or shortness of breath or tiredness. How long do stents last? I heard that the medicated ones from Boston Scientific are not all that great.
Avatar n tn An angiogram (CT or cath) test examines the coronary arteries for any blockage. Blocked coronary ateries compromise the blood flow to the heart tissues. A lack of blood flow to the heart cells causes chest pains. If there are blockages, a stent implant (usually done at time of angiogram) will increase the diameter of the occlusion/occlusions permitting more blood to the deficit area. Sometimes the area of blockage can not be stented because of location, tortuous segment, too long, etc...
Avatar f tn I am hoping I can avoid angiogram if possible-sometimes I think it would be better to just have the angiogram & possible stent & get on with a better quality of life-thanks again for your help
Avatar m tn I think another angiogram is your best option personally. It will show how clear your vessels are but ask them to do a FFR on your coronary arteries. This is a tiny sensor which gives the cardiologist the blood flow rate. Without this test, they are simply going by visual signs which is an inaccurate method. I would like to know what your BP was to lower your EF to 15%?
Avatar f tn Lol I'm not female I'm not very computer handy and must have messed something up that's my fault. This is very helpful and somewhat calming. How long have you lived with cad and how'd you deal with it I'm so scared just thinking about it?

1161780 tn?1266711844 In the end, however, it was a specific type of angiogram that ultimately confirmed my diagnosis of Coronary Microvascular Disease. I was given a Coronary Reactivity Test which is an angiography procedure specifically designed to examine the blood vessels in the heart and how they respond to different medications. Recently, both the Wall Street Journal and NPR posted some very convincing arguments as to why the traditional angiogram is no longer the ‘gold standard’ in heart testing.
974371 tn?1424653129 t say we have the best doctors where I live. Anyway, I am afraid an angiogram will be ordered and I really do NOT want one of those done. No way could I get through that and understand they keep you awake? Wondering if there is an alternative and if anyone has had the angiogram done and what your experiences were.
Avatar n tn QUOTE: Calcium scores are just how much of this fat that has gone hard. So, the picture is very incomplete, and dare I say, pointless. >>>I had a CT scan and my total score was over 1000 that indicated I was at risk of a heart event within a year.
Avatar n tn HOW LONG AFTER HAVING 3 STENTH PUT IN CAN I GET BACKTO DOING THINGS NORMAL AND WORK I AM A DANCE COACH I CANT GET THOUGH TO HOSPITAL TO GET A ANSWER AM HAVING IT DONE IN JUNE CAN ANY ONE TELL ME PLEASE I AM 65YRS OLD AND WAS FIT UNTILL NOW THANK YOU
Avatar m tn My doctor is obviously recommending an angiogram to rule out/in a blockage, but I just cannot understand how this is possible. I'm terrified of the angiogram and its risks, and the possibility of a stent just doesn't compute (my father was 70 when he got his stent, how am I possibly getting one at 39?!) Part of me wants it to be a blockage so that I will finally have a definitive diagnosis. If it's not a blockage, then what could this be?
Avatar m tn I am a 48 year old male and have been experienceing strange feelings in my chest for a long time with fatigue and some dizzy spells. I have had the excercise test and a 24 hour tape but they have not diagnosed anything. I still feel unwell most days and my father had a heart attach at 49 years old. Do you think the 64 slice CT scan is worth having given the cancer risk.
Avatar n tn What are the risk 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours after the procedure, meaning how long before you know you are out of the risk zone? 5. Is there any other testing that comes close to this one or is this the best one? 6. What are the odds of a healthy woman my age having any blockages? Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated... Sorry for the many questions just seems like a great place to get information.
Avatar f tn My father has just undergone a angiogram and was advised that his Right Coronary artery is 100% blocked. 8 years ago he had his first angiogram d/t tightening in the throat symptoms upon exersion. His angiogram at that time showed a very small occlusion in the lower aspect of the heart- resulting in the stable angina. The lastest angiogram also revealed "new arteries" had formed and have compensated for the blockage somewhat.
Avatar m tn My 1st appointment with him when he told me about my test results was about 2 minutes long. He told me I had a blockage. I had to take 3 drugs, he told me how to use nitro, made me eat an asprin, told me not to travel. He told me he booked me for and angiogram and I had a 1/1000 chance of dieing, or stroking out during the proceedure and sent me on my way. This time he gave me all the info I was needing to hear. He told me how well respected my Cardioligist is.
686233 tn?1227213145 Normally, buildup in the valves causes shortness of breath and not chest pain. Chest pain is normally associated with blocked arteries or arteries spasming due to some blockage even as little as 30 percent blocked. With your heart beating out of your chest, I am wondering if there is pressure building up. What is your blood pressure? Make sure to take your blood pressure 3 times and 3 times a day. Nausea is another sign of heart problems.
Avatar m tn What kind of biopsy? What about an angiogram? Would that be a regular angiogram or would the dr. have to go in the small artery or vessel and how would they know what vessel or artery to go in thru since it's a small artery or vessels.
Avatar f tn You should request a CT angiogram or Angiogram of blood vessels in the brain. I suffered for years with headache - without relief from medication. I had the same hallmark symptoms for migraine. You should have the possibility of cerebral aneurysm ruled out. That was my problem - dx with mutiple aneurysms 5 surgeries later I still experience headaches - and avoid sound and light which still can bring me to my knees! Migraine headaches is a blanket dr's jump to and then the pill game begins.
Avatar f tn You need to discuss with your personal physician and the radiologist. Both the angiogram and conditions the angiogram is done to detect might causes these.
Avatar f tn ve been diagnosed to have mitral valve prolapse. every year i have an executive check up and all was normal. my question is how do we know that our arteries are blocked? is there a specific test done? and what is it?
